The victory of Britain’s euro-skeptic UK Independent Party in European elections broke the traditional British bipartisanship for the first time in over a century. UKIP party swept to victory riding a tide of Euro-skepticism and anxiety about immigration to beat Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservatives and the opposition Labor party. Read full article

May 27th, 2014 - 08:22 am - Link - Report abuse 0A welcome change in British politics, and certainly the EU dimension of British politics. And a party very supportive of the Falklands.
May 27th, 2014 - 09:50 am - Link - Report abuse 0#2. In what way? I can't recall any mention of the Falklands by Farage. Is he keen on Falklanders going to the UK and taking jobs there?

I can't recall any mention of the Falklands by Farage. I'm surprised you missed it. It was part of their ( now de-funked ) 2010 manifesto. Nigel Farage suggested that that BOT's should have an MP in Westminster, that way they could report back to their respective BOT's on the latest developments / idea's and they would also serve to remind the Westminster mp's of their overseas commitments. The Falklands would never again become out of sight, out of mind.
Read it for your self :-) I might not have voted for him but he stands by the Falklands & Gib, so good luck to him.

May 27th, 2014 - 01:45 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Cool, thanks for the link.
Don't see a problem with BOTs having MPs. Need to have rules to avoid a repeat of the West Lothian question. Some might question the costs of BOT MPs travelling back and forth. What is video conferencing for?
May 27th, 2014 - 02:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0After avoiding elections for a number of years, I voted UKIP. I want the UK out of the EU. It just holds us back. It's easy to see. The EU imposes all sorts of rules and regulations that mean the UK can't trade with whoever it wants on terms favourable to the UK. Who's bright idea was that? There are 206 countries in the world. But the UK can only trade with 27 freely. The UK can trade with others, but who gets the benefit? The answer to that is......the EU. Let's say we want to trade with New Zealand for meat. Although, since New Zealand foists halal meat on the UK, we shouldn't. A preferential rate of duty is applicable to goods from New Zealand. Who gets that money? The EU. If Britain were FREE, it would get any duty payable. It could also demand that New Zealand properly label its exports. And we wouldn't have to watch out for stuff coming from mercosur.
it'll be funny to see the situation of the little colonies once the little islands are separated from the european union.
May 27th, 2014 - 05:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0guess spain will close the gate once for all, isolating the stinky rock a bit more.

May 27th, 2014 - 05:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0We in the EU are trying hard to arrest Spain's terminal collapse - in the same way that Venezuela is trying to stop Argentina's terminal collapse.
Europe stand a much better chance of doing this than does Venezuela.
I really do think there will be no winners in South America, however, there may be some walking-wounded-survivors.
RIP Argentina: survival is not in your cards.

May 27th, 2014 - 06:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What exactly are we relying on the EU for with respect to our overseas territories? We were in the EU when Argentina invaded the Falklands and not only did Spain support Argentina, the French sold them Exocets to blow up our ships.
The EU has been nothing but a lead weight around our necks for years, hopefully soon we will be rid of them.

They do say, if the government , opposition put the British people first 2nd and last, we would not have a UKIP,
alas they have not-do not-will not,
and we have UKIP,
simple really..
UKIP; the party with artificial intelligence.

May 28th, 2014 - 12:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Well it’s better than the argies that have NO intelligence, artificial or otherwise.
I just loved the EU results: UKIP the largest party!
It would be great to see Farage be the balance of power at the next elections. The only problem is that Camoron is shit scared of him and has abused him in public, I doubt if he is acceptable to Farage and will need to be replaced.
Millipede won’t be the leader of the Labour prats by then either. The “Great Balls-Up” is vying for position but even the Labour lot can’t be that stupid, can they? Or can they? THEY (not the electorate) did vote The Cunt Brown © Jeremy Clarkson 2010 as their “leader” and therefore OUR Prime Minister. And what a success he was!
Ha, ha, ha.
lolol.
