Cubans are now allowed to own small businesses and to buy and sell cars and properties.
What the Castros' give.. the Castros' can take.
Until there is a real constitution that protects democorcy, private property rights, freedom of speech and the other basic human rights, then the US should continue the embargo.
Those Cubans working to build their businesses only to have them confiscated later will experience what drove so many (now) cuban-americans to hate the Castro dictatorship.
Rick I suggest you look at other countries that the US trades with such as Vietnam, China and Russia.
It seems that the lack of a real constitution that protects democorcy, private property rights, freedom of speech and the other basic human rights doesn't stop full diplomatic relations admit plenty of trade.
The simply fact is that the US cracked a strop on scuba and now they can't back out. Cuba is no better or worse than the countries I list above.
There's no logical reason to stop businesses taking the risk of investing in Cuba. Everyone else is.
It has just become a self perpetuating embargo for domestic political consumption.

There are many Cubans and there families in the US who fled Castro in fear if their lives. They had there own private property, homes, businesses and life savings stolen from them.
For decades Cubans risked and sometimes lost their lives trying to escape Castro thugs.
It's real and very personal to tens of thousands of our citizens.
To even begin, Castro would have to make some kind of restitution and constitutional guarantees that the people of Cuba will enjoy freedoms and legal protections like their relatives now in the US.
It's too bad for Cuba that the Castro boys care so much about holding onto power that they forcibly keep their boot firmly on the necks of the Cuban people.
Until then, I'll not visit and I'll invest my money elsewhere.
Which is unfortunate since I hear it's a beautiful country.
