The Gibraltar Government’s recently-appointed representative in Hong Kong, Jason Cruz, will succeed Albert Poggio as the Rock’s man in London in two years’ time, it was revealed in Parliament by Chief Minister Fabian Picardo who confirmed the decision as he answered Opposition questions about Mr Cruz’s salary and employment package.
Gibraltar some months ago opened an office in Hong Kong and named Jason Cruz for the job. He has lived over twenty years in the former British colony and is an expert financier.
Picardo revealed that Cruz is paid an annual salary of 130.000 pounds, plus housing allowance, and education for the children and annual trip to Gibraltar.
CM Picardo said that Gibraltar should be proud of the achievements of Cruz in Hong Kong where he is acknowledged for his expertise in financial affairs.
Jason has worked for over 20 years in Hong Kong. His family has been in Hong Kong for almost forty years and he enjoys an excellent reputation and an excellent network of contacts, which have worked for the benefit of Gibraltar, underlined Picardo.
Jason was director of Cushman & Wakefield in Hong Kong, which is a real achievement since that is the world's most important company in commercial real estate services. The firm represents a diverse customer base ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, said Gibraltar's Chief minister.
Picardo also pointed out that Jason has been responsible for transactions involving over a billion dollars.
