Vatican officials are becoming increasingly irritated with the Argentine government after its ambassador to Britain, who is a vocal critic of the UK policy regarding the Falkland Islands, requested a private audience with the Argentine born pontiff, reports a piece by Edward Pentin, published by Newsmax.com. Disclaimer & comment rulesSorry Castro, Francis is a Thatcher fan, he knew she did the right thing by ejecting the Argentinian colonialists and had a convenient wobbly when you went to visit. You will have to content yourself with the support of your namesakes, Maduro and other midgets. Chicken or beef anyone?
Jun 17th, 2014 - 07:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0Have you heard the new catch-phrase at the C24 ??
Jun 17th, 2014 - 08:00 am - Link - Report abuse 0Colonializm by consent
Used by Spain to describe the situation in Gibraltar. Bet it comes to a country near you soon - even if it doesn't actually makes sense :-)
If the pope had ended up meeting Castro he'd likely have suffered a severe indisposition.
Jun 17th, 2014 - 08:55 am - Link - Report abuse 0I love the timing of this.
Jun 17th, 2014 - 09:06 am - Link - Report abuse 0Argentina loses in the US court cases regarding repaying their debts, and suddenly they have 'leaked' that they are pressing the Holy See to take a political stand regarding the Falklands.
This is something that he won't do, and indeed can't do, if he wishes to remain Pope.
But it may divert some of the great unwashed brainwashed masses into ignoring the fact that Argentina has lost, and will be forced to pay, or have its overseas assets seized.
Scraping the barrel a bit aren't they?
Jun 17th, 2014 - 09:20 am - Link - Report abuse 0What's the pope going to do, raise a papal army and sail south for a great crusade against the unbeliever? LOL
I'm also opening a dead pool on which irrelevant bunch of plebs Argtards will go to next to try and get a statement of support. I hear the International Tiddlywinks Federation haven't declared their support either way yet, Alicia Castro should make them her next port of call.
Will this retarded circus ever end.....the Botox Fantasy Wonderland smacks of increasing desperation with every passing week. Clearly the whack job that's sits in the 'Casa Fantazia' has set her sights on leaving a legacy to Argentina as being the 'El Presidente' that recovered the Fantasy Islands.....as the stupid Bitch's reign draws to an anti-climactic and in fact pathetic end (disastrous for the argentine people), even God (don't believe in myths myself) gives a fu*k...
Jun 17th, 2014 - 09:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0Surely next time Alicia Castro attends a public event in the UK we should introduce her to some Falkland Islanders.
Jun 17th, 2014 - 10:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0I'm sure the Falkland Islanders will have one or two thing to tell her.
Let's she her reaction to being ambushed.
To Maliciousbloke (5)..... The International Tiddlywinks Federation won't to ukc it, but the International Scrabble and Conkers Federations are considering it. Only if they get envelopes stuffed with Dollars and not Arg Pesos.... They may be corrupt but they're not Stupid...!

@7 Zathras
Great idea-keep up the pressure on her. After all she wants the Islanders deported to the UK, so to meet Islanders in the UK would be a pleasure for her.
@5
My bet is on the International Society for Tyre Burning as they have a big foothold in Argentina.

http://www.entornointeligente.com/articulo/2680619/Otra-mirada-sobre-las-islas-16062014
The pope does not have the political ability to intervene in the matter of the Falklands. he has to remain neutral in matter of politics and wars. regardless of original country of the current pope. lol to you argentina!
Jun 17th, 2014 - 12:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Right, but as we speak the mighty USA and UK are groveling on the floor in front of the Mullahs for help to save-face in neighboring Iraq.
Jun 17th, 2014 - 01:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Let's recall Iran is a theocracy. And that not even Russia or China consider themselves allies of Iran, nor have they asked for help to them.
Let's also recall the massive hysteria and (fake) indignation when Argentina tried talking to Iran and engaging with it. But even Argentina never asked them to be allies.
And here today are the USA and UK, dropping their pants and acquiescing to any Iranian demand as long as they get dirty against ISIS.
This is the greatest humiliation ever. Not only was Iraq a disaster as a policy, not only your armies got humiliated with rag-tags, not only did you make enemies around the world for it... now your only hope for deliverance from further catastrophe is the Ayatollah.
HAHAHAHA. Eat it brits, utter and complete shame.
When will these Argentines understand that Catholocism in the UK is a minority religion. 6 million practicing Catholics in a population if pushing 70 million, what influence do they think that the Pope has in the UK.
Jun 17th, 2014 - 01:21 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The Kirchner regime is coming to an end and next May the political picture in Argentina will completely change. Once the new government takes over and has a look at the finances, I doubt the Falkland Islands will be very high on the agenda for a long time time to come, if at all. All this recent activity is a last ditched attempt at achieving something from nothing.
@15

Lmao! The day the pope takes up the moronic malvanista cause, will be the same day Jesus Christ returns.
Jun 17th, 2014 - 03:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And for myself, that means never.
I would think the Argentines would find it beneath their dignity to try to manipulate the Pope. Apparently, they don't. The Falklands are British, and the Argentine claim is flimsy and groundless. They ought to get on the stick and straighten out their domestic problems instead of stirring up trouble like this. As for referring to the Falklanders as squatters, their own Indigenous populations could easily say the same of them. This whole issue is nonsense stirred up by a corrupt, inept government in order to distract its people from its sins. As for the US nonsense in Iraq...one more reason to thank W. The man was a simpleton, his Vice Pres was Satan Incarnate, and now...Here we are watching those whom they hate, whose philosophy they despise, triumphant in Iraq. As the French would say, tant pis! But...we know that we can't even pretend to ask for Papal intervention to absolve us of our sins in Iraq...JPII and BenXVI both condemned us for messing around there.

It must anger the Pope that Argentine politicians try to involve him in political machinations designed to distract the Argentine population, when there are pressing problems of abject poverty in Argentina. Poverty which the politicians would prefer to ignore, but which the Pope spent his life trying to cure.
Jun 17th, 2014 - 07:57 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Pope Francis is well aware of the cause of that poverty and it has nothing to do with the Falkland Islanders and everything to do with corruption at the top levels of Government. Castro is just the sort of political appointee who climbed the greasy pole, treading on the people below her, parasitically feeding off the public purse and keeping the poor beneath her.
No wonder he was indisposed to see her. The thought of meeting such a woman, who has caused so much misery must make him physically sick. He probably has to disinfect himself every time he is exposed to CFK!
I wonder if Alicia Castro is a Catholic or even a Christian of another denomination. Certainly her public behaviour is not atypical of a Christian.
Jun 17th, 2014 - 08:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0“The white smoke over the Falklands was pretty clear,” Cameron said, a comment ambassador Castro criticized as “dumb” and which betrayed a “foolish” attitude on the part of the prime minister.”

Every time she came round to visit he used to tell his wife to tell her he's having a little nap. He confessed that to me over a beer or two one night in the club.
