Yep, conclude the “negotiations”. Admit that mercosur isn't up to it and save millions of consumers the trouble of not buying anything from the asshole of the world. Brazil couldn't cope. argieland is a crook. Uruguay is too small to bother about. Who in their right minds would do business with Venezuela? Sorry, Paraguay. You joined the wrong group. Get out and join the Pacific Alliance.

And Dilma still thinks that Brazil is a First World country and should be on the UN Security Council as a full member?

There's nothing worse than a woman with a bee in her bonnet for clinging to delusions.

Good time for Paraguay to bail out and join PA.
How long until Venezuela is a 'full' member? That will be the death knell.

Argentina, don't ask for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee.

MercoSur is a dead duck. The EU should cancel now.

15 years and nothing to show for it. Take a fuckin' hint guys. No deal.

    just leave them

I like Sr. Barroso, and will miss him as EC President.

He has done an excellent job over the years, more as a EC/EU diplomat, than just his official title as President.

He counsel here in Brasil about the need to effect a trade agreement with the EU is meaningful. We should not have to wade through all the Argentine and Venezuelan merda to put that agreement into place, as the sands of time ARE running out of the hourglass.

As anyone can see, and has been said before 2 years ago, MERCOSUR / MERCOSUL is politically hamstrung, when compared to the Pacifica Alliance., which has accomplished much in the way of business and trade in a very short time.

We should leave that political and romantic nonsense about a new Latin World order for ALBA and CELAC dreamers such as Kirchner, and Maduro , one a bloated dead whale, and the other a near-dead scrawny seagull.

Brasil should take the 2 lead weights off, get running, and not miss the EU bus.

' “The Mercosur and the EU have been 'engaged' for more than 15 years. Isn't it time to take the next step and make it official?”, said Barroso, using language usually reserved for two people who have put off getting married.'

The better parallel would be a marriage of 28 grooms and 5 wives (assuming Venezuela is allowed to get married).

At least the rules of (marital) engagement will precede the marriage - who gets to sleep with whom ... and when .. and how?
(only missionaries may apply for the position and no, Chris, doggin' will not be done, the dogs are already out - “woof, woof”). Hmm, seemed funny at the time.
