    @2
Back in the 1990s I spent some time in Valparaiso. Fantastic and pretty little city and the Naval Base is very impressive. In fact the Chilean Navy is very impressive, probably the most professional in Lat Am. Also has some interesting links with Bernardo O'Higgins is you want to look it up.
Alongside the Military Academy, he founded the modern Chilean Navy under the command of the Scottish officer Lord Cochrane, establishing the First Chilean Navy Squadron, the Academy for Young Midshipmen (the predecessor of the current Naval Academy), and the Chilean Marine Corps. O'Higgins continued in his desire to see independence across Latin America, utilising his new forces to support San Martín, sending the Liberating expedition to Perú.
Interestingly there is a statue of O'Higgins in Richmond Park, SW London and every year on the Chilean Day of Indepennce they fly the Chilean flag and a small ceremony takes place on the nearby River Thames.

    scientific research and innovation...
industrial research development and commercialization of technology...
    in chile...
    lol
the most technologized thing they have ever created was that joke of capsule to rescue the 33 miners.
that's why they have to import cars, trucks, electronics, medicines, etc from argentina and brazil.
they don´t even have proper structural engineers to avoid all the disasters the earthquakes periodically provoke.
about valparaíso, is good to stay just 1 day, no more than that.
the bordemar, the centro, etc are bullshit.
and los cerros are not the great thing either.
not to talk about the beaches of viña del mar, reñaca, etc.
    yuck.

Looks like my little vulture-bait stalker has turned up. As usual, nothing to contribute, just some hatred.
    How sad.
Obviously jealous. Again! Stop following me about and get a life, or will no Argentine women talk to you?
It is 20 years since I was in Chile but I like to keep informed. They seem to be making excellent progress and have good relations with the important countries in the world, as the article proves.

I see paul-carrion did not comment on the article but merely used it as a means to denigrate Valparaiso/Chile.
    How weak!
“scientific research and innovation...” Tell us about Argentina's massive steps forward in this area.
How is your Ice-Breaker vessel doing? A scientific ship no doubt? That refurb costs more than a new ship.
RE: Chilean imports. At least they can pay for them. Paying people? Remember that?
Chile is doing well. You should congratulate them.

I like to contribute to discussions. What do you bring to the table? Nothing but your putrid, rotting corpse of hatred for those that you secretly desire to be.
I celebrate the relationship between the UK and Chile. You can only snarl in the corner like the wounded dog that you are.
Before I posted, did you know of the statue of O'Higgins in Richmond Park?
At least you have google, the limit of your life.
    how sad.

@9 paul-carrion, beneficiary of British Aid.

As I posted @1; your comment @6 is proven false. Please take your nose out of my arse.
Nice to see you have been on Google again. After my business meeting tomorrow I may stroll over to Belgrave Square and pay my respects to San Martin.
A man you could never hope to emulate.
Also to wander the streets of London is probably outside your dreams.

Go do some research on the Scottish 'Sea Wolf' Lord Cochrane to learn about deeper links between Chile and UK.

Do you have anything constructive to add this forum? If not, I suggest you go back to gathering firewood and stockpiling sugar.
    brr!!!!

    you + business meeting?
    LOL
to bring the coffee cups in a meeting is not having a business meeting, you nabo.
as for your “respects” to san martín, he was an anti-colonialista, that is exactly the opposite to you.
so save your respects for morgan the pirate.

    @ paul-carrion.
Oh dear. As usual, nothing to contribute except hate and bile
Actually, many people care about the statue in Richmond Park and others too. Typically, you think that because some Argentines don't care, then no one does. This is why the rest of Latin America hates you. Stupid narrow minded narcissistic world view established from a ridiculous arrogance.
You don't even realise how crap you people are. The world doesn't support you, it holds you in contempt.
Argentina contributes nothing. A failed state.

Sad that you are jealous of my life in London. Of which you know so little.

Ilsen, I don't mind visiting London on occasion (I used to live in Reading) I just wouldn't like to live there or maybe that's because I'm a Yorkshireman. I agree though that various historical figures from around the world have monuments in London and quite rightly too.

    @13 boufiewolf
Thank you. I have a home in London and a place in the foothills of Los Andes in Estado Merida, Venezuela. I need not describe London but I will say that from our veranda in Venezuela I enjoy my morning coffee and admire Pico Bolivar, the highest in Latin America.
I love both of my homes equally for very different reasons.
Yorkshire is known as God's own Country for very good reasons too!
