Argentina's Federal Fisheries Council (CFP) has reassigned hake (Merluccius hubbsi) catches for the remainder of the year. According to Resolution 8/14, published in the Official Gazette, the vessel owners that considered themselves unable to capture the entire allocated hake quota, can partially return it to a reserve fund for future reallocation. Meanwhile, back in Trumpton, Mr Troop the Town Clerk re-assigns the musical chairs.
Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grub were chosen to man the boats.
“In 2013, over 20,000 tons of resource quotas were transferred. And this year, given the irregularity of the activities of the Argentine fresh fish fleet, the volume may resemble that of 2013.”
    Parp! parp!

I think I get it ... progressively destroy your prime resource (Hake) and, as it disappears, the unreached quota tonnage can be used for any other fish/shellfish - irrespective of its status.

This seems so totally disastrous as a way to manage the resource stock/yield/conservation.
It is fisheries anarchy, permissioned by the State.

Different species need very precise and targeted management.
20,000 tonnes of prawn/lobster is very different from 20,000 tonnes of hake/squid, etc.
What a fine way of destroying the MOST valuable (eg) prawn/lobster populations of the South Atlantic!

    Speaking of largely irrelevant topics:

Has anyone ever heard of Gustavo Cerati. rotting roadkill is mourning his passing this pass week and there is much reported on his impact on not only the pop music of rotting roadkill but latin america as well and even the world.

Quick check: Virtually no one in the U.S. is/was even aware of his existance.

Was he a super star in Europe? Asia? Africa?

    The name sounded familiar..
My oldest daughter personally knows Cecilia Amenábar, the former wife of Cerati. She's a model and actress known by thousands in Chile. Apparently, he was an an Argentine music has been trying to revive his career.

As far as the South Atlantic CFP mismanagement, another reason why we should be thankful for the FIG being in control.

I think the last four posters pretty much sum up the values they have.

The first moral value they share, is they make fun and poke jokes at the expense of people that died not even 72 hours ago.

The second value they share is that of being proud of being the typical Anglo provincial and ignorant cunt: having no clue of anything that exists beyond their tiny and corrupt little cultures, which for some years now produce absolutely nothing of worth (which is why around the world everyone is returning to their own music, and making their own movies).

Third value they share is their mental handicap called “monolingualism”. The physical equivalent of this is missing both legs, and arm, and being paraplegic thus confined to a wheelchair. You can live, you can perhaps even thrive with just one hand and much personal endurance... but how will they ever know what it is like to have both legs, another arm, and the ability to run.

There are two pertinent words in the Spanish language which may pertain to Gustavo Cerati - these are “sorete” and “cerote”!

    @11

Why was he not important? Because YOU say so?

    HAHAHAHAHA.

Your sense of importance is overwhelmingly exaggerated.

And the funniest part of all this is I know why. And that you don't know that they joke is on you!! You are such an ignorant little anglo. That's how I see you here, thinking you are being funny and demeaning when in fact it is you who was demeaned by this “Cerati” (and all of Argentine music). YOU ANGLOS NEVER MATTERED TO THEM! You are as important to their careers as Bhutanese monks are.

    I'll be glad to explain.

To imagine that the argies are capable of conserving anything is just fanciful in the extreme.

    Never going to happen.

I would bet you all the fish in the sea that when they run out of fish stocks, the Argies will say that the English pirates stole the fish from poor old Argentina.
