We hope CFK in her desperation does not read anything into this,
to be used by others to gain a foothold,

this is merely a tit for tat considering Argentina supports china over her claims.

Oh, and China back these words with action? How many Argentine bonds have been sold to the Chinese? How much money has China lent Argentina?

Self-serving nonsense from the Chinese Ambassador. The Chinese “support” for the Argentine government's position on the Falklands has far more to do with China's aggressive expansionist policies in the East and South China Seas than the situation in the South Atlantic. In the South China Sea, China has been building artificial islands, harassing Vietnamese and Filipino shipping and fishing vessels, erecting huge drilling platforms etc., all in furtherance of its highly specious “Nine Dash Line” claim to sovereignty over the whole area, where there are at least five other competing territorial claims. China also has territorial disputes with India and Japan, in which it seeks to further its expansion by means of “salami slice” encroachment, viz. scores of PLA incursions into India, the declaration of an “Air Defence Identification Zone” over the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea (immediately repudiated by the US, Japan, South Korea). Thus the ambassador's remarks have far more to do with pushing the limits of Chinese “diplomacy” in its home region than any idealistic support of the delusional claims of the Argentine president.

    Nice friends you're making there.

Unlike the Russians (who just annexed Crimea under the excuse of self-determination) at least the Chinese aren't hypocrites, they seem ready to clamp down on any aspirations of self-determination in Hong Kong.

It's pretty f**king clear that neither Russia, China, or Argentina give a damn about democracy, and more specifically self determination. Good friends you're making there.

“new era has began in Latin America.”
Sadly it seems most of Latin America will never change, corruption and violence remain endemic. Good luck on dealing with your new masters China, they are unlikely to be as forgiving as the West when it comes to debt and your general belligerence toward international norms.

@5. Thanks Felipe. An excellent and well informed analysis
It's for the same reason Russia also supports Argentinas claims.
The Soviet Union lost an empire
Czar Vladimir wants it back .

    @2 SpanishSunshine

    Global Corruption Scores:

    China 80th position
    Russia 127th position and
    Argentina 106th position

My only concern is that which country would outdo the other in the corruption stakes? Argy-land might get fiddled relentlessly.

Such timing!! The only reason that China is supporting this claim is that they need some “friends” now as they are about to wipe out all democracy from Hong Kong.

Land grabbers of the world unite!!

Confucious say, China wants Argentine natural resources and will tell them anything, whilst at the same time investing heavily in UK construction projects and financial sector.
