Argentina's newly-appointed Central Bank (BCRA) governor Alejandro Vanoli claimed a “devaluation attempt” by 'concentrated powers' and rejected any official plans to downward the value of the country’s currency. He pledged to discourage speculation and to “put an end to abuses from financial institutions.” Read full article

    So are they going to pay their debts or nor? Yes or no? Vanoli says the government is not afraid to use the reserves to pay its debts. Well come on then, get to it!
    Don't forget the $185.3 million still owing to British Gas Group Plc. It is still outstanding after Argentina reneged (2002) on a British-Argentine treaty from 1993 designed to encourage foreign investment.
    Let's see it then, Señor Vanoli.

    This guy looks like he is missing some chromosomes. In the same article in the Rg press he said inflation was caused by businesses making too much profit.
    They're doomed.
    I love watching this slow motion train crash.
    I can't wait until the screaming and fires start.

    What is it with these guys and businesses that make profit? Some form of envy, or inverted snobbery?
    In Venezuela successful business people are vilified as the very devil himself (by the looney-tunes hardcore Chavistas).

    3. Its envy and greed and the insatiable gov't tax machine. Obama does it too. Marxists thru and thru.
    It took 6 years for people to finally see what I was talking about when he was elected.
    The best part of this Odumbo Presidency is that I think its ruined the Dems for another 30yrs like Carter did.

    Come on, yb, you should be good on this. He says there will be no devaluation. When will the peso next be devalued? With that sort of 'positive' statement, I'm thinking next month.

    “ . . . strengthen the peso by raising fixed-deposit interest rates.”

    OK, so its rotting roadkill and the effect of physics - classical or quantum - don't apply here. Hey Cannoli, how can this be anything other than inflationary which will cause the valuation of your pesos to do what?

    @10
    Let's play a game. You have to guess the correct answer a, b, or c.

    A) We are all bots controlled by the Death Star located some where in South Atlantic
    B) We are all super - intelligent Stealth Penguins located in the secret nuclear base under the Falkland Islands
    C) There is no 'we'. Just a lot of random strangers, from across the world who have a common interest in Latin American affairs, for a whole bunch of different reasons. However, a large proportion of these random people happen to think the current Argentine administration is a bit shit.

    Please answer now.

    Capitan Drag Queen is trying to wrest U$ out of World Bank IDB.
    It isn't going to happen
    He's wasting his time

    Nobody is going to deal with these maniacs, they're all just waiting to see if the next Prez is as crazy as this one.
    I wouldn't think it is possible
    But look at N Korea, Iran, Venezuela...those are the models they're using

    “We are taking every step not only to stabilize the exchange market but also to create the conditions to accelerate exports sales,” Vanoli stated.

    “ Well, that's at least what they told me to say in the script they handed me.” Vanoli said, adding “ So I hope I said it accurately, even if it makes no sense. ”

    “ Well, sort of, before I lost the actual script. Más o menos ”

    They should try these tactics on drug kingpins and criminals like the motochorros who stole an ambulance:

    Maybe this was the asshole they released last month.

    Oh my gosh, that is awful! Who on earth robs an ambulance! Outrageous and disgusting behaviour.
    I hope they have a very nasty accident and the same ambulance crew turn up at the scene!

    I still think those posts are all alike, the product of a single mind. Did I say singled-minded?
    Same for the bunch's haste to gang on anyone dropping by with a different optic, discouraging contributors and keeping the old wives club in a cozy and warm, all-agree environment.
    It's your loss, Mercopress.

    17. What is hilarious is that they think it will work. Sure the Peso is “reported” down for a day.
    Just reported
    Nothing else
    The trade is still happening it just moved around the corner.
    I think CFK is mad because the black market peso trade is being recommended in the travel mags now.
    ouch

    @19 Enrique
    So... you are going for answer A) just as Cristina instructed you to do so?
    ;-)
    Moving on from my humourous little asides;
    Is it a bunch, or a single mind? you haven't made that clear..

    There are posters here from Argentina, Australia, Brasil, Canada, Chile, England, The Falkland Islands, Germany, London, Scotland, Spain, Uruaguay, USA, Venezuela, Wales and probably a few other places too. (sorry if I missed anybody out!)
    I agree/disagree with them all on an individual basis, some topic by topic.
    Some I can disagree with but still enjoy their posts. For example, I might not agree with their religous standpoints, but respect their political ones.
    It's all relative, it's an internet forum. Lose the paranoia. Don't be so senstive. I like this site for the outspokeness of the posters. All with different agendas. All with varying degrees of passion for what they think is 'right'.
    Try getting a grip! (I understand they are available in a store near you right now)
    :-)
    see you soon!

    No the other cowardly thug was not involved, but he has just been arrested again but not for trying to rob the Canadian, but for causing a violent ruckus in the street and when the Policia turned up he thumped one of them.

    It was in the Herald earlier today but has since been pulled.
