What is all this piffle about 'reaching out' to homosexuals. They aren't alien life forms!
I wonder how many members of both the clergy and the laity are homosexual? Shouldn't have to reach too far methinks...

Why is it that religions always get their knickers in a twist about who is getting into bed with who?
None of their damn business really.

Still, at least this Pope is attempting some sort of modernisation.

Too little, too late, the RCC are on a general downward slide apart from SA.

What a surprise that is, NOT.

Looks like the days of the Papal Edict have been replaced with a warped form of 'democracy'.
Francis never stood a chance against the Establishment.

Although Protestant Christianity is merely tolerated in China, the Catholic Church is actively frowned upon. Simply because the Chinese Government took a look at Southern Europe and Latin America, (society and economy), then compared them with Northern Europe and North America.
Made their decision. For the whole nation. What was acceptable and what wasn't. As only totatalitarian regimes can.

I'm not aligning myself with the Chinese Gov. in anyway, or why they took this approach, just thought it was quite interesting.

    Hilary Clinton -

Gay people are born into, and belong to, every society in the world. They are all ages, all races, all faiths. They are doctors and teachers, farmers and bankers, soldiers and athletes. And whether we know it or whether we acknowledge it, they are our family, our friends, and our neighbors. Being gay is not a Western invention. It is a human reality.

    @6
Excellent quote and the truth. Now try telling that to the Vatican, or the rulers of Saudi Arabia, or Iran. Take your pick.
The Sultan of Brunei once said there were no gay people in 'his' country, said that they didn't exist, said it was a foreign fashion. So the journalist then asked why it was illegal.
    Journalist got deported.
    Ho hum!

Unfortunately the Catholic Church is still a powerful force in Lat Am. A major force against combatting AIDS and unwanted pregnancies, not to mention homophobic attitudes and a serious Madonna/Whore complex holding back 50% of the population.
Lots of work to do there before they can become 'progressive'...

Its being a personal policy in the last few years to always speak my mind and be true to myself, I dont go with the flow. Im not like you ilsen. I have a mind for myself and its mine, not imported from somewhere else.

The Catholic church should not persecute gays nor divorcees, but it should hold on to some basic guidelines as to what a family should be.
