Disclaimer & comment rulesROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oct 21st, 2014 - 10:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0This is hysterical! I can't believe she won't let it go. More free publicity for Top Gear and the BBC! and Clarkson (love him or loathe him, not important).
lol!
Wnat can she possibly hope to achieve by this? The BBC has a very good understanding of the opinions of the UK public. It will hold a few meetings, make some mealy-mouthed promise that 'it won't happen again' and carry on as before.
I note Ambassador Castro noted the excellent degree of cooperation various ongoing BBC projects continue to enjoy in Argentina, stressing her desire for this to remain the case.
Yup, angry at Clarkson, but still desperate for some hard currency. She has obviously been instructed to make a fuss to statisfy the domestic audience, but not to actually really upset anyone at the BBC.
Ha! She must love that tightrope!
Furthermore, the above article confuses what he actually wrote in some newspapers, and what was then reported second-hand in other publications.
Knickers in a twist Alicia? Masive Fail!
This has me snorting with laughter!
The release concludes saying the Embassy of Argentina awaits a proper response from the BBC.
Oooh! Now there's a threat! Not! haha! 'A proper response'? or what? What exactly? A big sulk?
I can't believe they are making such a mountain out of a molehill.
This can only make Argentina look more foolish.
Absolutely made my day. Cheers Alicia! Now get back down the rabbit-hole to join the rest of the Mad-Hatters in Wonderland.
Arf! Arf!
A BBC spokeswoman said: The BBC has received a complaint and will apply its usual processes.
Oct 21st, 2014 - 11:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0With all due respect to Ambassador Castro, I take exception to her provocative behavior and offensive remarks towards the UK Government.
Oct 21st, 2014 - 11:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It is as though she is there only to antagonize and irritate people with stupid ill chosen remarks, rather than to encourage any meaningful dialogue with the British people.
I see she has taken steps at least to beautify her appearance somewhat, but she would be ignored at Copacabana or Ipanema, except on Dias das Bruxas ( Halloween is a recent adoption here ).
As beautiful and attractive as # 60 coarse grit sandpaper.
The Top Gear team will be lapping all of Alicia's BS up and loving it.
Oct 21st, 2014 - 11:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Meanwhile in the Falklands some deadbeat applied graffiti around Stanley last week writing things like Malvinas Argentinas on public walls and other erections. Did we throw stones at them? No.
This thread is gonna run and run....

Not bad. 6/10. Not actually witty as such tho.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 12:50 am - Link - Report abuse 0It's only rock and roll. Guess you missed that part. Too subtle.
oooh a formal complaint from a 3rd world country nobody cares about.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 01:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0I'm am sure they will give it all the consideration it deserves.
Wheres the trash can?
Alicia Castro isn't a professional diplomat, if the term has any value at all. The mere fact that she expects to be taken seriously over this issue is ample evidence of that. Britain isn't Venezuela, which is where her career should have ended.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 02:12 am - Link - Report abuse 0@3
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 03:48 am - Link - Report abuse 0She's nae even that bonnie, - That's an old photo of her above.
Beautify her appearance?
Probably Decapitation would be the best option.
She's a tink.
Why cant they get rid of her? we used to expel soviets like it was going out of fashion. She has never indicated a grip on reality, god only knows what she was like as a trolley dolly?
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 05:01 am - Link - Report abuse 0The trolly dolly strikes again! Has she finally admitted the the islands are called The Falklands and not Malvinas, the number plate is FKL , not a sign of an m. Clearly its not her turn to share the collective brain cell with CFK and Timmerman!
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 07:03 am - Link - Report abuse 0Oh dear!
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 07:45 am - Link - Report abuse 0And it's so not like Argentina to be wallowing gratefully in a grievance and working it for all it's worth.
Perhaps Top Gear could make amends by inviting Ms Castro to appear in the programme? Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, perhaps? They'd have to find another noun, of course, but they could probably re-use that BE11 END number plate.
Just wondering if she will be repeating the lie that the Falklands War was started not by the illegal invasion by Argentinian troops on the Falklands & South Georgia. But instead when we sunk the Belgrano which was a threat to our fleet.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 07:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0Also the numberplate: H982 FKL,
No problem with that the war Argentina started was 1982 not 982.
Plus Argentina has a silly name for the Falklands.
Did anyone else pick up that the Argentinian nutters also didn't like the other two number plates because the numbers were roughly, and I mean really roughly, close to the numbers killed on both sides.
@3
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 09:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0There is a saying in the UK that you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear you can try but it won't happen . Poor dear. Did she mention the 20 yr old ( VETERANS ) that stoned Clarkson and crew, thought not.
It just gets better and better - is there ANY other nation in the world that is so thick and full of its own pompous bullshit as Argentina!
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 09:15 am - Link - Report abuse 0H982 FKL appears on quite a few vehicles in Stanley now and I hear T Shirts are coming on sale as well for the tourists to buy.
Argentina’s ambassador to the UK has made a formal complaint to the BBC about Jeremy Clarkson’s “provocative behaviour” in the recent Top Gear special, and demanded a public apology.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 09:55 am - Link - Report abuse 0As usual with Argentina it's always a demand she demanded a public apology
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/top-gear/11177314/Top-Gear-number-plate-row-Argentina-complains-to-BBC-about-Jeremy-Clarkson.html
Responses from the British appear to cover a range. There's 'F*** OFF'. Another is 'UP YOURS. PLENTY OF ROOM'. More expansively, there is 'After argentina apologises for invasion, occupation and 258 British deaths'. Also 'Declare the old witch persona non grata and ship it out in a slops bucket' and 'shove her broom where it will do the most good'.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 10:27 am - Link - Report abuse 0What's wrong with an ISIL solution? Remove 12 pounds of ugly fat.
Anyway, why is this being reported here? The braindead of latam already subscribe to this. The Brits are laughing their heads off.
But Britain is TOO laid back. A couple of frigates sailing up the River Plate firing to the south? A few Apaches picking out a firing range? Another topsy-turvy argie destroyer?
Lots of comments in The DT yesterday when they ran this piece.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 10:44 am - Link - Report abuse 0Clearly on the radar of the argie scum but there comments were so farcical it was really funny.
POLLY and Marcos missing so far I see but it's a bit early over here for those planks.
Excuse me?
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 11:03 am - Link - Report abuse 0A `formal´complain for that absurd, still not totally clear episode?
Somebody has lots of free time in London. I suggest our chavez-loving ambassador to use her time to build better ties with the UK and to concert business for our companies, rather than playing this sad role.
The answer from the Director general of the BBC should be when you formally apologise for the stoning and damage to our equipment and putting the fear of life into our personnel then we will respond in kind only fair I would hasten to add. Persononally I think the BBC will give lip service to the morons of The Dark Country, just as every nation in the WORLD gives lip service regarding the FALKLANDS. Just talk nothing more.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 11:23 am - Link - Report abuse 0I should have invested in Argentine companies that sell mirrors and smoke generators. I would be a millionaire by now.
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 11:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0Now I don't want to get all tat-for-tat, nit-picky about things, but has Argentina aplogised for the Falklands war yet? Hundreds dead...thousands injured or missing their loved ones....20 thousand line mines scattered over the countryside...
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 12:03 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Come on Alica! Put a little perspective on this, take it on the chin and learn to live with and accept your shameful act and humiliation. Then you can move on.

One really must feel sorry for you poor people, perhaps you should take a look at what a London based Argentine thinks about the lovely Alicia http://taboofart.com/2013/08/28/the-embarrassing-argentine-ambassador-to-the-uk-alicia-castro/

I think any incident from a private citizen that affects bilateral relations is indeed the purview of the respective governments
I would just like to say that nothing that J.C has done has affected bilateral relations. I would say that a rent-a-mob, throwing stones and trying to burn the cars of a British film crew who were trying to film a program in the country ( and create a bit of free publicly for you ) would affect bilateral relations.
They should read out her letter on points of view alongside other such crap as countryfile not being country enough and period dramas using the wrong type of frilly lace on costumes.

@43
Oct 22nd, 2014 - 09:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I totally agree. That would be perfect.
For those that don't know Points of View is a very genteel, Sunday afternoon type short consumer feedback show. Where viewers can write in with petty but often unintentionally amusing complaints about the BBC.
As Juan said, like having the wrong sort of cutlery placements in Downtown Abbey. Or a newsreader wearing a rather garish tie when announcing a sombre news story.
That would be great to see.
A Mrs Castro has written from London as she is most upset at the tone of one of the presenters in popular motoring show Top Gear etc etc.
With a nice 'sad-face' photo of her clutching her pearls, all discombobulated like.

Argentine Ambassador to the UK, Alicia Castro, made a formal complaint to the BBC regarding Jeremy Clarkson’s provocative behaviour and offensive remarks towards the Government and the Argentine people,..........
Oct 23rd, 2014 - 06:34 am - Link - Report abuse 0It's taken them this long to decide to lodge a formal complaint - I guess they don't think to fast. But we are dealing with a crowd who believe they can borrow money from the world and not pay it back, conduct a brutal invasion and occupation of a neighbouring territory and then complain when they get evicted, and stone passing conquistadors.
For a crowd that has demonstrated a hide thicker than and elephant's, they sure can get offended easy!

His clever like ggs schoolboy mocking should not be allowed. This lack of respect for ISIS and its feelings and rights is disgraceful and he should apologise.

Argentina media should have the right of free press, just not the foreigners. Simple as that. Argentina media is freer than in Britain, I can tell you that much. You are a police state, surveyed, recorded, and videotaped at all times. Your government can do as it pleases and you can't to jack about it. UK is a Paracoloustiocracy.

@75
Oct 25th, 2014 - 07:25 am - Link - Report abuse 0The thing is, unless you're stuck with a truly Argentine sense of proportion, sporting a number plate which might possibly be construed as referring to the date of the war, and sporting a T-shirt featuring P-51, B-17 and 'USAF, German Tour 1942-1945' aren't quite the same thing.
However you can reasonably sure that the German authorities would not be involved in whipping up a howling mob to throw stones at your TV crew. They'd probably just ignore you, as would the citizenry. As a general rule, they don't suffer from the same state-induced cult of victimhood that so demeans Argentina.
Here's another joke you might appreciate, what with with being an aviator and all. Frankfurt Air Traffic Control are renowned in aviation circles for being snotty pains in the arse. So one day, a British Airways flight queries the instructions he's been given:
Frankfurt ATC: You don't understand? Have you never been Frankfurt before?
British Airways: Yes. In 1945. But it was dark and I wasn't landing.
What a hoot, huh?
76 - Actually have rather enjoyed his shows, especially where he pits old spitfires in Belgium against Beemers. Yep, I rather expected his rockfest sporting the license plate considering the passions and tempers still flaring up. I write the word 'Malvinas' at work and the Brits get wind of it and let the insults begin....even for the active duty RAF (the younger ones don't even know where they are).

These stunts by the Argentine Government such as this request/ demand for an apology from the BBC are mere sideshows.
Shame on them.

Oct 26th, 2014 - 02:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Your English is atrocious. Evade in legal terms suggest the implication that one party is under the legal purview of another.
Argentina is not under the purview of the US courts, so there is no evasion. And they can't do anything about it.

Oct 26th, 2014 - 02:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The two parties, when reaching their original agreement, agreed on US juurisdiction in the event of a dispute arising.
Now you say they haven't. Are you re-writing history?
There was a dispute and both parties went to the agreed tribunal. Argentina didn't like the outcome so has been trying to weasel out of its obligations.
The full legal document of the arbitration case is available here:

This is why there is a lack of FDI in Argentina. The Government can't be trusted. The proof is there in plain view.
Exactly. The government can't be trusted, and all argies are by genetics crooks.
Oct 26th, 2014 - 03:27 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Scenarios in life from better to worse:
1. Be thought of as decent and behave like a crook (anglos, japanese)
2. Be thought of as decent and behave decent (tribal groups, Sammi)
3. Be thought of as a crook and behave like a crook (latins, Chinese)
4. Be thought of as a crook and behave decent ( ?)
So why behave otherwise, when it would not bring anything or any advantage? We would just behave honestly and still be thought of as crooks, so we might as well be crooks and get some money from it.
And there endeth the lesson.

Oct 26th, 2014 - 05:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0So once again we learn that the acceptable standard of behaviour for Argentina is the worst that can be alleged of anybody else. It's a sweet deal if you can get it, because it means you're never guilty of anything, and if you are it's all somebody else's fault anyway.
I wonder how a country with a deal like this has become the most downwardly mobile in the world?
