Oct 27th, 2014 - 08:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0best destination for wildlife and blablabla...the islets..yeah, right...
and according to who?
the Travel Agents Choice...LOL
now that´s funny because for well known publications like traveler´s digest, lonely planet, etc the best places for wildlife and nature are:
1. botswana, 2 galápalgos, 3 the amazon rainforest
the islets, of course, did not even qualify.
how the fuck can you compare te amazon rainforest or the selva misionera with a pair of islets with no trees?
The FIG seems to be taking their investment in the future to higher levels these days. Great to see such confidence and determination.
Oct 27th, 2014 - 08:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I wish them all the best. They will go from strenth to strength and will grow in stature and recognition levels around the world.
Good effort all round!
Falklands growing,
Oct 27th, 2014 - 08:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0and argie bloggers cry foul,
The Falkland's are getting wealthier better and more popular,
and the other bit downtrodden losers just cry,
well, don't cry for us Argentina, because the islanders are laughing all the way to the bank...lol
I imagine the judges of the 'Best Destination for Wildlife and Nature - the Travel Agents Choice Awards' are quite knowledge in regards to their subject.
Oct 27th, 2014 - 08:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The FIG's pro-active attitude to the USTOA Annual Conference & Marketplace, and attracting tourism in general bodes well for the future prosperity of the Islanders.
Good long-term planning.

Oct 27th, 2014 - 09:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Antarctica has no trees and people pay a lot of money to visit. Neither Namibia nor Morocco have much in the way of trees.. What is your fixation about trees ? The Amazon, a steam bath where everything wants to eat you !
ASTA is a Travel Agents Association who SELL holidays. It's their business, so I must assume that they know their market.
What exactly are your qualifications for judging a holiday destination and who would pay any attention to your totally biased opinion based on hate.
Why don't YOU write to ASTA and tell them they are totally wrong instead of posting on a 4th rate site----your words.

Oct 27th, 2014 - 10:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0South america or africa never.
Ever USA OR EUROPE NORTH AND OF COURSE, NOT SPAIN, ITALY, GREECE, PORTUGAL, ETC
Sorry che, the ARGENTINOS AND THE MEDITERRANEAN EUROPE WHICH are very little to you, is not it.
Some of you wrote: well, do not cry for us Argentina, Because The islanders are laughing all the way to the bank:
It's true, we cry from 1833 when some guys that lived thousands of miles with weapons and ships war stole our land, kidnapped our people and took her to England to make a judgment: the first disappeared in Argentina was the gaucho Rivero: You took him to england and made him disappear: this is a historical truth.
If you laugh, because it has more than 3000 British soldiers in mount pleasant that are caring, (approximately 1 per kelper). So, anyone would laugh.
way to the bank: of course, you like the money, you are overexploiting the natural resources of our Argentine sea, you SELL FISHING PERMITS, indiscriminatelly.
I would not say YOU ARE PIRATES: you are British and this is the reason: you have taken for a long time natural resources in many parts of the world and left a lot of poverty and ruined countries, You are always looking to take the best part and let hunger and misery for the rest of humanity, they just sit in your own ego and pedantry.
Bye, and see you in Boca !!!!!!!!

Oct 27th, 2014 - 11:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Being arrested and being disappeared aren't quite the same thing. Under the British system, it's quite possible to be arrested without being disappeared. Murdering 5 people is regarded as a good way to get arrested, even if it's apparently a good way to get your face on a banknote in Argentina.
About 25% of the G20 are former British colonies. Compare with the experience of the Spanish Empire, which first made the remarkable discovery that it's possible to steal so much your impoverish yourself. This lesson has obviously yet to catch on in certain quarters in Argentina.
To be honest, I find it hard to disagree with what Hernan said...but that's only because I have no idea what he's talking about. Perhaps someone can translate for me lol.
Oct 27th, 2014 - 11:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Glad to see the Falklands doing so well, despite their odious neighbours. Onwards and upwards!!
@11 The background chatter from all the unicorn-riding elves is most distracting I find.
Oct 27th, 2014 - 11:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0On a more serious not it would seem that a sense of victimhood is an integral part of the propaganda. Unfortunately this starts at a young age in the classroom. Not only is it government policy, it's in the Constitution.
What a strange world to grow up in. Especially when confronted with the truth as soon as you engage with the wider community.
Must be at least confusing, if not terrifying.
No wonder the mental anguish.
Meanwhile, back to the unicorn farm...

I have to admit that he worked his rear end off to get the needed votes..

Oct 28th, 2014 - 05:31 am - Link - Report abuse 0You fool, Hernan,
you SELL FISHING PERMITS, indiscriminatelly.
The Falklanders manage the Fisheries resource for sustainability - Argentina refused to agree with that and Nestor tore up the agreements in 2005.
Additionally, CFK wanted to saturate the Argentine Sea with Argentine licensed jiggers to destroy the Falkland fishery industry.
” the first disappeared in Argentina was the gaucho Rivero: You took him to england and made him disappear: this is a historical truth.
Historical truth ?! LOL !!!
Rivero the murderer, was indeed taken to London for trial, but subsequently sent back to Rio De Janeiro where he died.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Rivero
...you have taken for a long time natural resources in many parts of the world and left a lot of poverty and ruined countries, You are always looking to take the best part and let hunger and misery for the rest of humanity”
Britain initiated modern farming practices, created efficient railways for communication and transport of goods, built modern infrastructure, textile manufacturing, telephone networks, modern civil service and governmental institutions, and manufacturing, in 3rd world countries, like India or Argentina, amongst others.
You don't know much about real history, do you?
LOL !!
Surely, Hernán MUST be a member of La Cámpora? His contribution is idiotic!
Oct 28th, 2014 - 06:55 am - Link - Report abuse 0Hernan cannot even count - there are approx. 1200 British forces on the Islands not 3000 - its public information if he could be bothered to check it!
Oct 28th, 2014 - 08:54 am - Link - Report abuse 0he would also find that conservationists in general from around the world recognise that the Falklands and South Georgia Fisheries are among the best managed worldwide.

Oct 28th, 2014 - 09:31 am - Link - Report abuse 0That's a fact, malvinistas don't get along too well with facts.
@8. Poor child. Why would the UNITED STATES Travel Operators Association want to hold a conference somewhere like latam? Do you do tours of the 'villas'? Very costly to lay on the armoured 4x4s.
Oct 28th, 2014 - 11:13 am - Link - Report abuse 0You really must try to get up to date. Why complain when you were using weapons and ships of war both to kill the real owners of the land and committing acts of piracy. Yep, argies are criminals from way back. Troy Tempest has already put you straight on the animal Rivero. And you haven't learned! Even now you celebrate the invasion of a peaceful country and its occupation in 1982, the war you started AND lost. Because you're NO GOOD! I wonder you don't send people from your 'army' to the Olympics. Excellent sprinters! Incidentally, I doubt you'd know a 'historical truth' if one got up and chewed your peanuts off.
And you're close to being right on one thing. 3,000 British soldiers would be more than 1 per Falkland Islander. Have to keep the peasants in line. You know that. How many argie soldiers did it take for you to keep the argie peasants in line during your Dirty War and the days of the juntas. How many peasants disappeared? 30,000, wasn't it? I hear you were very keen on sporting activities. Swan-diving over the Rio de la Plata. Did the nuns volunteer? And you being Catholics as well!
Shall we explore how you argies stole over 90 billion dollars and, despite court judgements and orders, refuse to pay it back? Doesn't that make you thieves? And you even chose the legal system you wanted to be applied! Doesn't that make you stupid as well? Suppose we were to come down and take everything you have that has been obtained with stolen money? How's the 50% inflation going. In Britain, ours is about 2.5%. All by our own efforts. It must make you really sick to see two tiny little island groups doing so well. Did you know that the Falkland Islands GDP per capita is higher than that of the UK? And more than twice that of argieland? Three times for the Islands!
There are some very bitter Argentines commenting on MercoPress recently.... it is sad that they are so consumed with hatred when it comes to any kind of minor or major success the Falklands enjoy. If you truly loved these islands, surely you would be happy for them?
Oct 28th, 2014 - 01:31 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Paul, if you belittle the Falklands so much, why are you so consumed by them? Why do you want the islands so much if they are as bad as you always describe them?
its kind of ....TOO COLD for my liking......!!

Oct 28th, 2014 - 05:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 0At a guess it's because the success is driven by the islanders. Many of the argentines who post here would like nothing more than to get the islands, but empty, and effectively ethnically cleansed of those people who have made their lives there. Good luck facing such hostility and pointless hatred.

Oct 28th, 2014 - 09:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Calm down POLLY, if you keep on like this your feathers will come out and you will fall off the perch and be a dead parrot. Talking of which:

You will be the one lying on the bottom of the cage, if you are not careful.
Back to the topic:
I take it TDC didn’t get a mention or even go there then?
Perhaps they were stopped at the immigration with their tyres and petrol, just to give a faithful rendition of what a traveller can look forward to.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind: back to the cesspit.

omg, you are old...lol

Oct 29th, 2014 - 09:15 am - Link - Report abuse 0You may be correct but not because of a Monty Python sketch. In the last few months this particular sketch has been shown on TV in the UK promoting a tour by the Python team. As a result the parrot sketch will have been by a generation who were not even born at the time of it's initial broadcast.
As to being old, at least Chris and I have made it to where we are now....what are your chances ?

Oct 29th, 2014 - 11:37 am - Link - Report abuse 0I'm relatively young (born in the mid 80s) and know all about the greatness of Monty Python.
Also, the theatre based Spamalot is still in production (I believe) and I was lucky enough to see ”Monty Python Live (mostly)” this summer.
