Nov 04th, 2014 - 04:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Both names suggested by Former President Lula are well known, and would be good choices to replace Mantega as Finance Minister.
Nov 04th, 2014 - 05:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0But note the subtle comment about the chemistry with President Dilma. She has portrayed herself as THE Economist in Brasil, and would obviously resent anyone independent, or (dare I say it) actually better qualified than she.
Better to leave personal differences and childish jealousies aside for the good of our country, as we are now in a technical recession and January is knocking at the door.
Dilma is very much her own finance minister ......
Nov 05th, 2014 - 07:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0that sort of lets Mantega off the hook, then ?? not really - if he had a pair, he'd have told her where to get off the first time she obliged him to deny what he'd been told to say only the day before.....he deserves the prize for being a manipulated rat and for putting up with it.
As to Trabuco, CEO of Bradesco, didn't think he'd accept...he knows all too well that the DumboAss would try to use him, and end up destroying his reputation, as she did with Mantega. Meirelles could be a reasonably good choice, not only because of his previous post as Finance Minister , and his extensive banking experience, but exactly because he won't want to take sh*it from DumboAss .....she still has to learn that she is no more than a medium level manager - and a bad one at that, catapulted to the top by Lula because she's his 'yes' woman - and let people who know their business, get on with it.
