Australia confident of Antarctic Marine Protected Areas approval in 2015

Australia will continue to push for Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) off East Antarctica despite the proposal not being adopted at the annual Commission for the Conservation of the Antarctic Marine Living Resources, (CCAMLR) which last month met in Hobart, Tasmania. Read full article

    I think this Antarctic agreement will only happen when the Paracel and Spratley Islands etc are officially given to China, and the Ukraine is made 'officially' Russian.

    Argentina would not be binded to this agreement since we do not acknowledge the existence of the Southern Ocean anyway... so whether we support it or not is irrelevant. It is non-binding because the region it is enforceable upon does not exist under Argentine law.
