US corporation firm General Electric has “over-invoiced” imports in a financial maneuver designed to access additional dollars in the official foreign exchange market, claimed Argentine Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich. GE thus becomes the second large US company in less than a week to face accusations of financial trickery in order to obtain economic benefits. Read full article

I love the way that Argentina now uses the 'guilty until we've robbed you blind' system, instead of the 'innocent until PROVEN guilty' which is what civilised countries use.

Alleged means that it hasn't been proven, so taking ANY steps against GE would be premature and ILLEGAL.

Just another show of how the current Argentine government is destroying Argentina for decades to come.

If Argentines thought the 2001 economic crash was bad...well you ain't seen nothing yet.

Absolutely amazing. That's THREE inaccurate amounts. Mind you, if you read carefully, there's no indication of the amount of tax involved. As a matter of interest, what does AFIP when it's not trying to criminalise argentines? Having been on the law enforcement side of the import/export 'game', I'm inclined to think that the argie import/export taxation system is crap, the enforcement staff are crap or they all just sit back and wait for the argie govenment to tell them who to target. You see, all these 'taxes' require declarations. A few weeks experience, at most, are usually enough to indicate to alert staff whether a declaration needs further investigation. What Capitanich is actually doing is demonstrating the incompetence of official staff. Is this supposed to somehow excuse argieland for its criminal, fraudulent behaviour? Doesn't work for me.

Yet Boudou is still in office after his Harley-Davidson is proven to be registered at a phony address. It never ends.

“economic terrorism” Jeez. .. bunch of drama queens! This the language of Maduro and his ilk.
Why is Argentina attacking US companies? What do they hope to achieve? It seems like some sort of childish 'revenge' over Griesa's ruling.
If so, this attitude will only create greater problems long-term. Eventually Argentina will alienate every one except the Chinese.
Then the Chinese will begin to turn the screw
What a gloomy future for the Argentine people. They need to change their government fast!

All this will do is speed up the closings of US companies within Argentina.

There's no reason to have mfg there.
    None at all

    Just wait and see.

“General Electric insisted that Argentine officials had not asked for any information regarding its foreign trade transactions, stating that it complies with all Argentine laws and regulations”

Of course they do!! But the KFC gang NEVER let a little thing like “The Truth” get in the way of their All American witch hunt.........

Remind me again, who is committing “economic terrorism”???

This phrase “economic terrorism” seems to be getting very popular with the governments of Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela. They deploy this 'phrase du jour' at any given moment.
    I would suggest this is
    a) to distract from the frightful mismanagement of their own economies and apportion blame elewhere
    b) to support the introduction of draconian laws and policies under the guise of 'anti-terriorism' (Maduro has had the power to Rule by Decree since Dec. 2013, based on this).
    c) to frighten the people and keep them compliant
    d) to boost their own egos, (and salaries), as they whip up propaganda that they, yes them, those lily-livered politicians are 'heroic fighters' defending the nation in times of distress.

You couldn't make it up.... Oh, hang on! Umm... they already have.
The bunch of lying hypocritical crooks.

Kretina makes out for the domestic audience that she is a serious global player but in reality, when it's G20 time, she takes to hiding in private hospitals.

GE practices tax avoidance all over the world. Why does rotting roadkill think it should be treated any different than any other country. And GE is a multinational and accordingly really can't be typed as an American concern. If you do business in rotting roadkill: GET OUT STUPID!
