Nov 10th, 2014 - 08:41 am - Link - Report abuse 0I mean, honestly, such statements don't mean anything. Argentina has realised that their laws don't extend in the territory of the Falkland Islands; which is why they have done nothing to stop the exploration and exploration of resources there.
Argentina is powerless on this matter!
I don't know whether to laugh, to cry or vomit! This crass idiocy is demeaning to those Latin American countries who allow themselves to be led by Argentina in the name of hermandad
Nov 10th, 2014 - 09:30 am - Link - Report abuse 0My long years of experience in several Latin American republics has been enough to realise they couldn't care less about Argentina's claim to sovereignty of the British territory in the South Atlantic and that these same countries value their friendship with the UK far more than their connections with that pariah nation Argentina.
Same old boys, talking the same old rubbish.
Nov 10th, 2014 - 10:13 am - Link - Report abuse 0Mercopress' use of the adverb allegedly at the very beginning of the article reveals that the information is not only biased but their approach misleading and false.fo and verify at the OLADE website and you will all confirm this is the second declaration on the issue. There's no alleged second intention here but a extremely firm support. Englishmen on the islands are really paying a lot to this news agency to distort reality.

Nov 10th, 2014 - 11:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0Alejandro, if you are so concerned with government interfering with news media, shouldn't you be taking action against your own government?

Where is your proof that Mercopress is paid by the Falkland Islanders ?
Another Y-A-W-N from who cares.
Nov 10th, 2014 - 12:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I'm sure the UK and Falkland Islanders will put this declaration in the appropriate place - the rubbish bin.
Nov 10th, 2014 - 12:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Just one Little question......
Nov 10th, 2014 - 12:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Who gives the OLADE the right to makes statements obout a not state member of its club.....????
End of the issue.....
'“illegal hydrocarbons exploration and exploitation ...'
Nov 10th, 2014 - 12:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It is only illegal in the same sense that Vaca Muerta extractions will be thought illegal by the Mapuche, Texas oil by the Concho and Toboso, and the Pre-Salt by the merluga and humpback.
'Buenos Aires would complain to the UN over the oil project and might take the case to the ICJ in the Hague,' Argentinean Foreign Minister Jorge Taina, February 2010.

HMS DRAGON: Brief Visit to the Territory
A UK Royal Navy vessel will be anchored in Road Harbour for a short visit on the afternoon of Friday 7 November. The purpose of the visit is to pay a brief courtesy call to the Territory whilst en route to the [ Falklands Islands. ]
HMS Dragon is the fourth of the Royal Navy's six Type 45 air defence destroyers. The ship left the UK on October 27, 2014 for a routine seven-month Atlantic Patrol Tasking deployment where she will take over from HMS Iron Duke.
And the argies will start to cry..
OLADE-Go away & do nasty things to yourself.

Statement on “Malvinas sovereignty”
Nov 10th, 2014 - 08:55 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Perhaps the Falklands should appoint a minister for argentine sovereignty and discuss this with others,
And see how they like it…lol
.
Excellent ldea Mr Briton.
Nov 10th, 2014 - 09:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0l like it.
lf you want the post, l would like to be your 2nd in command.
And if you don't want it, l volunteer myself as Minister for Argentine Sovereignty.
Ha ha ha.
Briton- Correct, HMS Dragon due Stanley for 8th December for 100th Anniv of battle of the Falkland Islands Commemoration, On the 9th she will carry direct family descendants of both sides - includes 6 of Von Spee,s family out to the battle area for a wreath laying ceremony.
Nov 10th, 2014 - 09:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The descendants of Von Spee, Craddock and Sturdee will also be unveiling a Centennary Wall and Plaques dedicated to the memory of all those who were lost at sea on both sides in the battles of Coronel and the Falklands.
Argentine readers take note - we respect those who fell in combat 100 years ago who once were enemies but are now friends and allies.
We are able to get over history and move on.
“Based on this OLADE members have the full right to defend and protect natural resources in their territories, in full exercise of their sovereign rights.”
Nov 11th, 2014 - 07:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0That doesn’t just apply to OLADE members, the UK and the Falklands have exactly the same rights and, since they are, and have been for nearly 200 years, in possession of the territory the rights to exploit the natural resources belongs to them.
Thanks OLADE for re-affirming the Falkland Islanders rights.
6 M_of_FI (#) don't deviate the attention from the real issue.This IS the second resolution and firmly supports Argentina. And Mercopress knows this. UK and hence you (Crown) guys should be more than concerned. You may keep on lobbying uselessly but truth and international law will always prevail
Nov 11th, 2014 - 10:43 am - Link - Report abuse 0I fully support Isolde in her new role as Minister for Argentine Sovereignty.
Nov 11th, 2014 - 12:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I think her first action should be to expell all those of non-idigenous heritage.

I am glad that you have taken this correct stance. It means that you agree that Argentina has no legal case apart from avarice.
why are these people getting involved in politics? will opec declare a position on the Ukraine, or those islands Japan and China are arguing about.
Nov 11th, 2014 - 05:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The sovreignity of The Falklands is way out of their remit.
It has nothing to do with them outsiders,
Nov 11th, 2014 - 08:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0if they wish to advise, then advise the ICJ or mind there own business,
the ICJ or nothing..
@18 Isolde
Nov 13th, 2014 - 09:00 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Go for it Minister for Argentine sovereignty! -I found my copy today of Falklands to Patagonia by Mainwaring that confirms Falkland Islanders settled Patagonia long before the 'siesta lovers' in the north got there (even if it was to get away from the FIC)-and guess who (apart from the native Amerindians ) established Ushuaia?
Maybe with your leadership Ushuaia may one day become the second city of the Falklands, but not as Argentina understands it.
Its got painted tin roofs so Ushuaia is yours!
@20
This IS the second resolution and firmly supports Argentina.
You may keep on lobbying uselessly but truth and international law will always prevail
Correct, Argentina's useless lobbying is about as effective as worn knicker elastic as it doesn't understand the meaning and function of the I.C.J. and yes, international law is prevailing, because the Falkland Islanders are obeying International Laws.
Why aren't you at the ICJ?
@26 Pete Bog,
Nov 14th, 2014 - 09:50 am - Link - Report abuse 0l've said for a long time that the 2(or maybe even 3)southern Argentine provinces should be ours.
We were there first & they are not only johnny-come-latelies but also an usurping implanted population.
l'm sure that we can come to some arrangement with the surviving Amerindian population & exclude the Argentines. lol!
@27
Nov 14th, 2014 - 08:39 pm - Link - Report abuse 0l'm sure that we can come to some arrangement with the surviving Amerindian population
Well, Bishop Stirling tried to help them out-they might have a small claim on Keppel (except maybe those Yaghans may be extinct).
The Amerindians would get more rights under the Falkland Islanders than they do under the Argentines.
And Ushuaia would be cleaned up, and wealthy!
Interesting that even though it was mixed up with religion, the Brits in this case actually tried to help the natives rather than exterminate them.
Looking forward to my long lost Falklands to Patagonia book(left to me by the late and great Eric Ogden some years ago-full of historical surprises-perhaps Gollum should read a copy.....
but truth and international law will always prevail”
Nov 15th, 2014 - 04:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0it already does - the Falklands belong to the Falkland Islanders.
Any doubts, just ask the head of the UN.
