New York District judge Thomas Griesa has authorized Citibank to complete the transfer of 85 million dollars to holders of restructured Argentine bonds under Argentine law, meeting debt services that expire on December 31. Read full article
Look Argies that's the way to sort out problems by meeting them head on and dealing with them. Remember , these are bonds under Argentinian law so can be distributed to the bond holders. This will have no effect on the bonds under American law so no need to crow about it.
Sistah, The ruling makes sense, Rg law bonds paid thru Citi Argentina.

Do you not comprehend my post @1? He has to release the money as they are under Argentine law, what do you not understand? Christ some people just don't get it just like ostriches.
Argentina's attorneys have asked for the “pari passu” judgment not to be applied to any further litigants, with a ruling expected later this week. The nation has already revealed that it would not begin negotiations without a commitment from other creditors to not request equal rights with the rest of the vulture funds in the case of a favorable judgment.....
The application/interpretation of the pari passu clause should be res judicata as to the similarly situated by-standing holdouts. The chances of a different interpretation are between very slim and none in which case Arg has already announced it will not negotiate.
The ongoing post judgment discovery by NML/Elliot plaintiffs may very well lead to the discovery of theft of government assets by the Kirchners. That possibility combined with the 'no-negotiation with vultures' position she has painted herself into is what is causing the serious psychosomatic illnesses from which she now suffers. When she won the last election with 54% she tried to change the constitution to serve a 3rd term. Now there's a serious question of whether she will last until the end of her current term.
p.s. The personal insults traded here by some are infantile and stupid.

Yeah you don't get it....
His original ruling was no bond payments to bondholders without paying the holdouts as well....
Til someone was astute enough to remind him that his ruling is ineffective concerning payments under non US law....now he's having to relax his original ruling to allow payments.....
Embarrassing what?
Silly old duffer.....
@10. No, you don't get it. Citibank has to ask. Judge Griesa gets to say 'Yes' or 'No'. Because Citibank is governed by NY law. Get it yet? The rule of law! Judge Griesa defines 'the law'. Maybe, eventually, argieland, and YOU, will understand that Judge Griesa holds the whip hand. Take the 'action' in the English courts. If there is just one American party, the action will be lost.

Anybody remembers those stories about President Cristina Kirchner's wild shopping sprees in New York...? FAKES!
If you happen to have ANY information, besides just words, contradicting ANYTHING I just typed, I would be most happy and grateful to receive it.
The situation in Argentina is unlikely to get better in the near future as the social fabric of a once prosperous nation is sliced away by inept economic policies, creeping authoritarianism, corruption, and the growing stranglehold of transnational organized crime. As the scandals accumulate around the president and her ruling clique, her popularity and ability to govern are severely impaired. Until now, the president has managed to keep a thin wall between herself and her trusted officials and partners who are the subjects of indictments and ever-widening investigations. While her hold on the judiciary is not complete, she has proved adept at using the powerful state apparatus to evade a wide variety of past and current cases that likely would have toppled less brazen officials.
