The head of the Argentina's powerful manufacturing lobby, UIA, Hector Mendez fired harsh words against Economy Minister Axel Kicillof stressing “his post is still too big for him”, but admitted he 'has advanced' in the last twelve months. Read full article

Dec 09th, 2014 - 12:56 pm - Link - Report abuse 0There is no real working economy anyway so why the fuss?
Oh, and if he's reading this: you need to increase the Argentine Naval entertainment budget. They're running periolously low on Beluga caviar and Cuban cigars...
Mendez, Rattazzi, Mendiguren and all the industrial class, love peronist governments that protect them from foreign competitors, set tariffs, block imports, and grant them preferential dollar rates, tax agro exports get subsidised electricity and gas.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 01:07 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And they will always blame and use an excuse some sugar producer in Tucuman or some orchard farmers in the Litoral that Mercosur is a failure...
They wouldn't last a day in the real world.
He is a scruffy child who is only in that position because CFK is infatuated with him.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 01:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 02, The self perpetuating corruption is what killed your country. If it wasn't such an amazingly rich land mass you'd already look like Bolivia.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 01:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Only the land is what keeps the people of Argentina above water.
And that can only last for so long
This has been a government with a clear industrialization objective. With Nestor (Cristina's husband and previous president) a period of growth in the manufacturing sector took off and “we don't want a return to a situation which sets back industry”.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 01:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0A bit of arse licking there. Reality is that Industrial share of GDP has being in decline since the early 1990s

Dec 09th, 2014 - 03:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I have lived in both Argentina and Greece and both populations of those countries would do anything to avoid taxes and boast about it when they did. The problem comes when the said countries have to service their debt ( internal or external ) but do not have the money ( avoided taxes ) to pay said debt. Trouble is most of the working class ( not employed by government ) are in the black economy ( cash in hand ).
At least 50% of working Argentines are on the 'black'. They brazenly talk about it and gripe about their bosses having quotas. I know personally of some that only want to work on the black because they can avoid repaying personal debts.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 03:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Part of any rebuilding of a future for Argentina is to inculcate from birth a sense of responsibility to society. If they want to take they have to give.
Going back to the video on Bubblear.com, the pickpocket had absolutely no shame but a complete sense of entitlement to keep what she had just stolen. I am not suggesting all Argentines think like that but an element does. I was heartened by the response of the passengers that forced her to give back the phone. That is what they need to do more of. Make scamming and stealing and tax avoidance socially unacceptable rather than something to be applauded.
Economy lesons for 6&7- I completely disagree
Dec 09th, 2014 - 03:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Argentina pays the largest tax preassure in the Continent. And the largest employer in black by large is the state. People dont want to work in white because if they do they will lose their social assistance.

I like this graph because it says a lot in it, and why Argentina is in the state it is in and what it is clearly causing its problem
http://www.mdzol.com/nota/512648-argentina-tiene-el-record-en-presion-tributaria-de-la-region/
THE PROBLEM ARE NOT THE PEOPLE THAT DONT PAY TAXES, ITS THE VAST SIZE OF THE STATE AND THE DEFICIT THAT IS THE PROBLEM
@8 Surely it is both.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 03:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 09. No, cant you see that government revenue is at a record high in 2013?? We are already in the Laffers curve downhill and into negative growth. You cant tax more the economy without resulting in less revenue
Dec 09th, 2014 - 04:11 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Tax revenue stopped keeping up with inflation years ago.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 04:52 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The tax revenue has gone up but the amount of enteties paying is too law.
Its impossible to have a business there and correctly pay the taxes.
A while ago a CPA firm said if you paid all the taxes in full in BA it would be 108% of profits!!
Surely the people working for the State pay taxes, no? What is the lowest amount you can earn without paying taxes?
Dec 09th, 2014 - 05:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 012. Most working people especially if they're in union don't pay taxes. The floor is too high.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 06:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Its mostly the rich and companies that pay. And pay big.
Its a mess.
It wont be fixed until there's nothing left to tax.
@12 Half of the people working for the State are paid in the black. Yes, it's insane.

Dec 09th, 2014 - 08:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 012. I guess it depends a lot at what government level you work town hall, provincial or national.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 09:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0A lot of what INDEC considers work force a subsidy recipiants from the government who are cataloged as public workers.
Depends what category you are and of you are single or not but its round about 8 k for singles and 11 k pesos for a dude with a typical family when you pay earnings, that is the big one that the Unions and opposition are complaining against, then you've got any amount of other taxes. But to keep it simple use those estimates.
I guess you monoglots won't make sense of this, but it is poking fun at the Argentine government. https://www.flickr.com/photos/127703037@N02/15779848098/in/photostream/

20. You know when you try to slam people here for only speaking one language it makes you look idiotic.
Dec 09th, 2014 - 11:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You're speaking with us in our language, you learned it communicate with more intelligent beings than you could find in your own country and to be able to speak to people universally.
The only reason we'd learn Spanish is to speak to maids, gardeners and to order drinks and food while on vacation.
That's the difference. You may want to consider that before you try to be so ridiculous again.
@22 wow, that was tough... but you are totally right!!!

You better learn Spanish soon as it will soon be the most widely spoken language in the US. (Already is in some major cities).
Just because I am Argentine, doesn't mean I agree with the current government here.
I can speak fluently to my maid, the painters, some waiters and bartenders. I just wish Latins knew the difference between lemons and limes.
Dec 10th, 2014 - 02:48 am - Link - Report abuse 0Everyone in American would be happy then.
”You better learn Spanish soon as it will soon be the most widely spoken language in the US. (Already is in some major cities).”
Dec 10th, 2014 - 04:46 am - Link - Report abuse 0Another product of the Argentine education system.
Unless all those Spanish speakers in the U.S. DON'T speak English, then it is impossible for Spanish to be the most widely spoken language.
I'd be interested to see a list of cities where Spanish is more widely spoken than English in the US.
English is the world's first and last global language. It won't be replaced. Doesn't mean other languages won't be learnt but English is the one everyone needs.
Here you go Skippy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._cities_by_Spanish-speaking_population

They also agree that TDC has the lowest level of understandable Spanish in SA.
They may speak Spanish as their native language but if they want a decent job they must speak English.
Dec 10th, 2014 - 12:57 pm - Link - Report abuse 0As I said maids, janitors, painters, waiters, bartenders.....I will say Argentinians make good waiters and bartenders.
@31
Dec 10th, 2014 - 01:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I think you will find the Spanish spoken in Argentina is called Castellano a bastardisation of Castillian Spanish. Apt I think.
Yankeeboy once again demostrates what being of a master race does to your brain.
Dec 10th, 2014 - 03:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 033. I was shocked at how brutal and racist Argentinians are to people with darker skin. I've traveled all over the world and Argentina is definitely the most overtly racist country I've ever been to.
Dec 10th, 2014 - 04:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@34 It is true that there is racism in Argentina just like everywhere else but that doesn't give you the right to denigrate us. For a country that pretends to be past racism, there is a lot of Americans on the internet being proudly racist on the open, and a lot of racism within your government that is poorly hidden.
Dec 10th, 2014 - 04:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It is unfortunate that most Latinos swallowed the post-racial myth your government built. That is the biggest reason we Latinos don't bother to improve, because we falsely believe everyone is equal now.
The USA is one of the least racist countries in the world. http://dailycaller.com/2014/12/09/america-is-among-least-racist-countries-in-the-world/
Dec 10th, 2014 - 04:26 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What I always thought was funny is Rgs are racist against other Latins! My gosh don't you realize you're one of them?
So you're blaming your lack of improvement on the USA? Bahahahaha
Nope, how can that be when most of us don't know or care about any country south of Texas.
Gads you people are seriously flawed, you need psychological help.
Yankee, Argies dont want to be seen as Latinos, they are ashamed of it. They WANT to be seen as being like sophisticated Europeans not South American outcasts. That is why Toblerone (warning contains a nutter) keeps banging on about hating Europeans. And, they hate black people and particularly indiginous Indians.

I'm not blaming you, I'm blaming Latinos who swallow up the myth of a post-racial society.

This article contains tables of U.S. cities and metropolitan areas with information about the population aged 5 and over that speaks primarily or only Spanish at home. The tables do not reflect the total number or percentage of Spanish speakers in any area reported.
The fricking intro proved my point.
Argentinean education I tell you.
