Argentine stocks closed down 6.85% Wednesday, weighted down by falling oil prices for a second day of heavy losses. As oil prices sank to new five-year lows, the Merval stock index in Buenos Aires shed more than 600 points to 8,279.04, after losing 7.22% Tuesday. Read full article

In other words, excellent news for Argentina. OPEC firesales oil, Russia MUST firesale oil, and Brazil and USA have tons of oil comming online at the WORST possible time and they will have to firesale it too.

Argentina gets super cheap gas, CFK can balance her trade, and Argentina keeps VACA MUERTA, the other shales, and the likely off-shore oil for when everyone else runs out of oil and we can charge $2000 a barrel.

Argentina is on the decline, but it will have one last hurrah! yet.

not only does he life in a bunker, his father rapes him and mom uses his tongue as toilet paper.

no one now believes he lives in Argentina or even paupers like him would realize the rapid decay that is excelerating. Hell BA city and the province is going through regular power outages. My family was told to expect these and more frequently because they cannot import the needed parts to properly upgrade or/or repair them.

    PARADISE!!!!!!!!!

Careful what you say here, Giorgio. The trolls are about and will get you. Nonetheless, your central point is well-taken. Falling oil prices are good for Argentina. This news article seems to be suggesting that there is some direct relationship between falling oil prices and a falling Merval. I think the Merval is falling in spite of falling oil prices, not because of it.

OK trolls, now it's your turn. Tell me all about how my personal habits have eroded my intelligence. Don't be shy. I know you are up to it.

Its bad for Argentina because at the same time SOY is becoming unprofitable and its too expensive to mfg cars ( or anything else for that matter) so you still don't have teh U$ you need to support the fuel you need for your economy.
As I told Toby before it really doesn't matter how low oil goes if you don't have the U$ to pay for it.

  • Captain Poppy

Yes yb not be mention that the lower prices pushes risk for drillers to the backburner. This means dwindling investment in the dead cow (Vaca Muerta not KFC). They will still need to import.....and as stated by yb.....no U$. Hell they can't even import parts to keep electricity on in Recoleta....all of BA for that matter.

I wonder if they cleaned up Casa Rosada with the Columbus statue asslips kirchner had cut into pieces and was left in yard there? The pink house looked like a junkyard in June.

The main problem they have with electricity is they are buying lines that aren't meant for their climate so if it gets over 80F they melt. Plus they've been using spit and baling wire to keep the substations functioning for a very very long time.
Everything is on the verge of collapse.
    The anticipation is maddening.

@23. Fantastic! How's the inflation going? What about the collapsing 'industry'? So glad you want to starve. Or is it just other people you want to see starve?
@26. 'The world won't let Argentines starve'. It won't? Why not? We have a territory full of crazed, corrupt, genocidal criminals with a lengthy history of lack of civilisation. I think you've mentioned before that you have friends in argieland. That hardly makes you objective. Let's view the Falkland Islands as an Ark. Carefully selected argentines might be allowed aboard if there is famine and starvation. However, numbers and types would need to be properly restricted. Wouldn't want them successfully breeding. Remember that it would be a situation they have brought on themselves. You need to look forward and imagine the results of your generosity. Imagine 500 breeding pairs. In one year, you have another 500 of them. In another year, there's another 500. Assuming no twins. So, in 2 years, those you have saved have increased by 1,000 to total 2,000. How long before they outnumber Falkland Islanders? It could be as little as 4 years! Be warned. Here in Britain, it now seems that the most popular name for male babies is Mohammed. What does that tell you? There are different ways to invade. Britain fought and died for you. It still protects you. Don't give away what our boys fought for. If the day ever comes when elected representatives on the Falklands have spanish names, you will have stepped on to the slippery slope. It might come about with immigrants allowed in through compassion asking for representatives from their own kind. And THAT should tell you that an invasion is underway. Remember that they made no 'diplomatic' protests between 1849 and 1941. So they are capable of letting things lie for many years. You must take the same long-term view.

I think you will find England will have much more to suffer when your financial bubble built on top of two other financial bubbles burst. After the latest “economic growth” you still produce NOTHING more than before. You still have no better EDUCATED workforce than before. You still have no NEW resources to exploit then before. You DO have an ageing population and high racial tensions. Plus you will soon cut your leg and right arm by withdrawing from the EU, and as retaliation they will certainly slap 35% tariffs which will send you into a massive depression if you by that point aren't already in one caused by your own stupid policies of real estate/banking speculative GDP growth.

Sorry to disappoint you GP......Brazil does NOT have tons of oil “'comming”' (spelled wrongly) online..... about 3 weeks ago, the president of Petrobras announced that the company ‘might’ become self-sufficient in 2015 (meaning the oil produced, is enough to attend consumption)….this self-sufficiency was announced back in 2006 and was briefly reached, but with the political use of the company by the government, self-sufficiency has been delayed. Since you are informed otherwise, it must be because, although you live in Argieland, you subscribe to the lies of Lula and the Brazilian Worker's Party (PT) regarding the sub-salt (pré-sal) oil....Brazil is still a net importer of oil.....and what they do export, is heavy oil, in exchange for lighter oil which they can refine..... ”(15 Think) May 03rd, 2013 - 03:10 pm
    Article says….:
”According to scenario 1, if crude oil were to be worth $100 a barrel in 2018, the Falklands GDP, which is at present around £140 million would have leaped to just over £1 billion and would not return to current levels till around 2045.
    I say….:
Regeneris and Mr Nichol’s *U$S 100* a barrel ”Scenario 1” is set to start working in the Lords Year of 2018... until 2045...
That's 5 (five) years from now… and almost 30 years in the future.
I wonder if Regeneris and Mr Nichol’s ”Scenario 1” included a bit of history about oil prices for the Engrish Kelpers……
Any Engrish / Kelper in here knows what the median world oil price has been in the last 40 years (1970 – 2011) ???
    U$S 100.00 per barrel ???.................... Nope.
U$S 80.00 per barrel ???...................... No, try again.
    U$S 32.50 per barrel?...
    Juppp, that's right…: U$S 32.50 per barrel!!!
    www.wtrg.com/oil_graphs/oilprice1970.gif...:
”Prices in the mid $30s seem exceptionally low by today's standards. However, when the current President of the United States ( Mr. Barak Obama) took office the price was $35.00 per barrel. By the end of 2009 prices had doubled bringing the average for 2009 to $56.35 or $57.00 in 2010$.”
    www.wtrg.com/prices.htm

And what does all the above mean, will the Turnips ask...
    Elementary... my dear Watson...
It means that serious Oil companies plan long term with an average oil price of ~U$S 35.-...
Unserious, cheating Engrish Oil Pirates in the South Atlantic..., on the other hand..., plan long term with an average Oil Price of U$S 80, U$S 100 or even higher...

As I was saying some 18 months ago...:

“...we are, as you Yanks so elegantly put it, in the midst of a Freaking Fracking Oil Revolution…”
And, in my humble opinion, nothing can or will stop it...
Not the one in the USA...
    Nor the one in Argentina...
And... After the Shale Oil & Gas Revolution, comes the Coal Liquefaction Revolution, immediately followed by the Coal to SNG Revolution...
As our dahling wannabe Kelperette “Isolde” rightly said on these pages...: “The World is swimming in Hydrocarbons”..., as the yearly average Oil Price rightly shows...:

    1984: $27.50
    1985: $26.50
    1986: $14.64
    1987: $17.50
    1988: $14.87
    1989: $18.33
    1990: $23.19
    1991: $20.19
    1992: $19.25
    1993: $16.74
    1994: $15.66
    1995: $16.75
    1996: $20.46
    1997: $18.97
    1998: $11.91
    1999: $16.55
    2000: $27.40
    2001: $23.00
    2002: $22.81
    2003: $27.69
    2004: $37.41
    2005: $50.04
    2006: $58.30
    2007: $64.20
    2008: $91.48
    2009: $53.56
    2010: $71.21
    2011: $87.04
    2012: $84.46
    2013: $89.84

Taking into account the above...; the Engrish Pirate Oil Adventure in the South Atlantic, based on a minimum price of $85 a barrel, has a very good chance of being a “No Starter”...
That will be the moment when Argentina will tighten its grip on the tourist and fishing industries that provide nearly 70% of Malvinas GNP…

Argentina 's opportunity has come......and left. I believe you work at being the way you are. Do you think Argentina will fix the electricity situation before or after they drill these virtual fracking wells?
BTW. How did rolling over the Boden bonds go?
    I've a game to watch.
Any ever tell you that you sound like voice

Cue a lot of Malvinas bullshit coming out of Argentina's government, to distract the sheeple from how their corrupt government is f*ucking over their country.

    Ooooooooooooooops......

Bad news for our friendly Engrish Oil Pirates in the South Atlantic..., good news for Argentina...:
”Premier Oil sank to a new low today, of 146.9p for a 12-month loss of 49%. And that’s a company expected to see an earnings per share (EPS) gain of 40% this year, to put the shares on a P/E of only 4. EPS is predicted to fall back again next year, but it would only raise the P/E to 6.

In its November update Premier told us it will go ahead with new projects “if they are robust at our long term oil price which is currently $85/bbl“, so $60 a barrel is going to give those plans a kick in the teeth.”
