I suspect this was just a last chance to 'play with the big boys' for Castro.

Last opportunity to visit the Pope and pretend she is a 'somebody' before her political cadre gets dumped from the government that needs to find more palatable figureheads for public office.

    Hello, Maximo...

I'm guessing “Malvinas Matters” is another attempt to push Argentina's fake sovereignty claim?

I'm also pretty sure the Pope won't appreciate it, after all one of God's most sacred commandments forbade bearing false witness.

I'm sure the Pope will put the presentation away and keep it with the copies of the Beano, Dandy and Scouting for Girls. Sure to be a right riveting piece of fiction. Meanwhile Castro is trembling as she awaits the backlash from BBC TG Christmas Special that she didn't want shown.

Seeing as Ambush Alicia is out of the country, might this not be a convenient time to declare her persona non grata - she's already out of the country...

Or, seeing as despite her uselessness and the irritation she causes she's apparently on the 'A' list of Argentine diplomats, does the prospect of her being replaced by someone on the 'B' list seem too terrible a prospect to contemplate?

    I´m sick of two things:

a- The `malvinas´ claim, since I am convinced now Argentina has no case at all; and

b-this pope-dude, who has turned to be nothing but another supporter of the Kirchner regime. Bloody idiot, useful tool.

Its all just a pathetic stunt and carries zero weight with the vast majority of the worlds population. One of the principal reasons that South America is so backward is because of Catholicism. The Argies go out of their way to prostrate themselves in front of this fake to try to bolster their image. It cuts no ice with any thinking person. As for the mythical Malvinas thing the fake wont play which makes them look even more stupid.

I wonder if its this map

    http://www.mapandmaps.com/en/south-america-copper-plare-map/2379-antique-map-of-south-america-copper-plate-engraved-map-by-rigobert-bonne-1787.html

What I notice is that the Islands are called Malouines/Falkalands (sic), so this map of 1787, according to the trolls on here should only have a French /Spanish name as they 'think' that GB never had a claim before 1833. Strange how a French Map of South America would use and accept a French and English name to islands that we are told were only ever French then Spanish. Yet he uses Spanish place names else where, I wonder why?

    Just an observation...

Oh dear, you never learn do you?

I am neither juvenile (how I wish) and most certainly not a fool and you compound the RCC problems by saying poorly thought out comments as you consistently are wont to do.

Do you believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden? NO! Why not, they have exactly the same status to thinking people as the RCC and all the other ‘religions’: they don’t exist.

I am not going to waste any more time on this nonsense, the pope is a guy in a very fancy dress, the CEO of a world-wide organisation that has for decades covered up the kiddie fiddling which has ruined the lives of the very people they are there to ‘bring to god’ as your lot claim.

YOU should personally go out and report ANY and ALL ‘fathers’ to the POLICE not to a bunch of willy-wavers carrying crosses who do nothing apart from hide the perverts deeper into the maw of the ‘church’.

You are the juvenile here, you need to get a grip (around the throats of the perverts).

Yes, the Great Northern War - pretty much set the tone for our relationship with Russia ever since then. Did you know we have a special word in Swedish for describing the fear of a Russian invasion?

    @64
We have many schools and institutions in Sweden where you can learn Russian. It is not because we like them, it is out of necessity. Many companies still try to do business there, and, well, lets face it - part of a good defense is to learn the language of your potential enemy...

Now, in Argieland there are thousands of schools and institutions at every level (actually, pretty much all of them) where they teach you all about the evil UK Colonialism and the Evil American Imperialism.

And they keep writing and publishing story books about these mythical islands in the mist off the southern coast. In most normal countries that would be considered fiction for young readers. But in Argieland, that is somehow passed off as factual reading for adults...

    @68 Z-ville,
All wars are immoral, however everyone has the right to defend themselves.
Getting it in its proper perspective, Sweden had an empire consisting of Finland, the Baltic states, parts of Germany & Poland.
All these places were conquered by Swedish arms.
The Russians merely replaced the Swedes as overlords of most of these peoples.
Neither of you had the right to rule these territories, they belonged to the Finns, Estonians, etc etc.
This is in no way a criticism of Sweden, thats the way things were done in those days, i.e. our own British Empire, two centuries later.
Just human nature, to want to expand at the expense of your neighbours.
    And actually still going on.
Look at Argentina's current ridiculous “claim” to the Falkland lslands.
    Wholely without substance or morals.
    Peace

i actually feel sorry for the Catholics worldwide for this.

First they get a pope that resigns for the first time in centurys, probably because of the focus on his Nazi past

Then you get an Argentine pope, that unfortunately keeps giving lip service to a corrupt regime formerly known for killing nuns, invading innocent countries.

Sometimes these things can be forgotten, but not when cretins keep popping up and forcing meets with him and producing propoganda which to the ill informed looks like support from the pope when in fact it is not.

Just all leads to another papa having to resign.

    Well done CFK

BTW, the SPANISH Inquisition made sure, “the Whole World believes...” - does that sound a familiar phrase??

I would suggest to you, Peronist Prostituto, that there have been many many more “Protestant” and “Presbyterian” scientists that have shaped our modern world.

By the way, to dash any feeble retaliation from you, Argentinian “Saint Biro” was Hungarian, invented the ball point pen in Germany, Patented it in Britain in 1938, and then sold the rights and the company to Argentina in the 1940's in exchange for sanctuary from the Nazis, for himself and his family.

Biro was Jewish, that's why the Argentines extorted payment to allow his family to settle in Argentina, as a refuge from the Nazis.

To be fair, they charged the Nazis any stolen gold they had - to escape the Allies.

The problem is that your government is trying to tell everyone that colonialism and imperialism are the causes of all of Argentina's problems.

All your economic problems are supposedly because of the so-called “American vulture funds”, or foreign speculation, or US judges having the ridiculous idea that your government should actually pay back money that it borrowed and promised to pay back etc...

Likewise in geopolitical issues, there does not seem to be a single problem or setback that your government doesn't blame on the “Colonial Injustice” of the Falkland Islands.

And all that nonsense and “blame everyone but ourselves” attitude is being showed down the throats of your school kids and college students every day...

Biro was Hungarian when he invented 1931 and patented 1938 the BIRO pen.

It had nothing to do with “ARYENTINA”

ARYENTINA exploited his plight and the plight of his family as Eastern European Jews, persecuted by the Nazi's.

They could live in ARYENTINA, in exchange for surrendering the majority ownership of the Biro company and patent, to ARYENTINA !!!

    Very mercenary of you!

In effect, you STOLE the Intellectual Rights to the invention !!!

Sure... it was further developed in ARYENTINA, but it was no ARYENTINIAN flash of intuition that produced the “BIRO” .

    Deluded much, Pablo ??

Thank you President Barack Obama and Pope Francis, for your leadership. All countries of America (from Alaska to Tierra del fuego), appreciated and will recognize his leadership forever.

Today December 17 is a day that will live forever in the memory of Latin Americans.

Beyond, that many of us in Latin America not share the Cuban ideology, Cuba is an American country and should return to their roots, along with the rest of the countries of America, beyond ideologies, sitting at a table where all the American countries put forward their opinion.

Now the challenge is to the Cubans themselves, hope in a future free elections and multiparty. Cuba should relax its political system towards new horizons, more democratic and flexible. The countries of Latin America has a fundamental role in this last item.

NOW THE ONLY DISPUTE WHICH STANDS IS THE MATTER FALKLANDS / MALVINAS. THE UNITED KINGDOM MUST HAVE THE GREATNESS TO START A DIALOGUE, ONLY THAT, DIALOGUE, NOTHING MORE.

A NEW AMERICA IS EMERGING FROM ALASKA TO TIERRA DEL FUEGO, LONDON TO GIVE ACCOUNT OF THAT.

OTHERWISE, THE BRITISH ISLANDERS WILL BE THE ONLY PEOPLE IN ALL OUR GREAT AMERICA, ISOLATED WITHOUT BEING ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS OF OUR LIFE AS AMERICANS

NOW AT THE MEETING OF MERCOSUR, HERE IN ARGENTINA, ALL COUNTRIES OF THE REGION (INCLUDING CHILE) ARE EXPRESSING, JUST RIGHT NOW, THE UNRESTRICTED SUPPORT FOR THE QUESTION MALVINAS AND VULTURES FUNDS TO ARGENTINA.

FALKLANDS / MALVINAS, FROM TODAY AND LAST GREAT CAUSE OF AMERICA, WE LOVE YOU AND WISH YOU AT HOME, BEAUTIFUL, RADIANT AND VIBRANT AS YOU WENT SOMETIME.
