If the released Guantanamo prisoners can't go back to their native countries then that is a clear sign that they are extremely dangerous. I wouldn't trust anything the present USA administration says - they will say or write anything to advance their idiotic agenda and stupid aspirations.
Not worry, they will soon be popping across the border to radicalise CD2....
Looking forward to your conversion CabezaDura2, you might finally get to meet your fantasy of 70 virgins .... just strap on that designer vest....
... you know you want it really, bad boy!
... lol!
russmohr, they can't go back to their native countries because they are from Syria and Tunisia, where they may be subject to torture or persecution. The United States is bound by the Convention Against Torture which prohibits them from sending detainees back to countries where they may be tortured or persecuted. It has nothing to do with whether the men are 'dangerous' or not -- and as Pres. Mujica and the U.S. State Department said, there is not and never has been credible information that these men were involved in any of terrorist activity. The same is true for more than 100 of the men still at Guantanamo, and the vast majority of all men ever held there. The true number of actual terrorist suspects who were ever held at Guantanamo is less than 50. Probably closer to 25.
Back in February the then US ambassodor to Uruguay, announcing this with the government of Uruguay, said that these people were of course not dangerous. Well excuse me - I think it reasonable to expect that people held without charge and due process, and slated since 2009 for release, could and probably WOULD be 'dangerous' I'm sure I would be. And, they've had plenty of time to radicalise and learn a few dangerous tricks while behind bars. We'll see trouble here, or perhaps they'll scarper off to points not too much further north to meet up with kindred souls.
5GTMO Observer(#), Syria and Tunisia are both Muslim countries, they would welcome them with open arms if they were not a threat to their society. Torture and persecution would not be administered unless they were guilty of criminal atrocities against these countries. These countries do not care what threats these men have against the infidel or not (such as Europe and the US) they only care about their country. But if they are a threat to fellow Muslims then how much more of a threat would they be to the US, Europe and the Western World including Uruguay. Muslims are trained from childbirth to hate the Jew, Christian, Hindu, etc., they just want us annihilated completely. Think about that. I lived and worked in the Middle East for three years so I do have some knowledge of their mindset and can speak with some authority.
Wow. I shudder to think what you must have been doing for those three years if your knowledge of their mindset is Muslims are trained from childbirth to hate the Jew, Christian, Hindu, etc., they just want us annihilated completely. Setting aside that there is no one single Muslim mindset any more than there is a Christian, Jewish, or Hindu one, perhaps you're unaware of what the Assad regime in Syria is doing to its own innocent, non-threatening, Muslim civilian population? *Of course* Syria would accept its citizens back from Guantanamo; but as I stated, the U.S. considers it a violation of its treaty obligations to send them there given the conduct of the Assad regime. Similar concerns pertain in Tunisia. Your blind assertion that torture and persecution would not be administered unless they were guilty of criminal atrocities against these countries is naive in the extreme and totally incompatible with your claim to authority on these topics. It's not a question of guilt or innocence, it's a question of what assurances the U.S. has from the receiving country that they will not torture or persecute. Obviously the U.S. cannot trust anything it gets from Assad, and it likewise concluded that whatever assurances it received from Tunisia are insufficient. None of this has anything to do with the individual men, their backgrounds, or whether they are threats to anyone.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
The Beast is releasing its hostages...
What is the Beast Thinking?
Think can't trust the Beast...
Not right now, anyhow...
I Think I'll wait...

And of course, he supports the biggest lie of all-the mal-something-or-other myth.
to GITMO Observer(#) - Apparently you have not read the Qur'an, Sahih Bukhari (most reliable Hadiths), Sharia Law or spent time in the Middle East - I have done all of these things and more. You have been led astray by the main-stream news media and are deceived by the Politically Correct Society. There are no so-called moderate Muslims, they are just passively waiting and preparing for the end times (as per the Qur'an) then they will join the terrorists in a global carnage of all unbelievers. Either convert to Islam or die (head chopping). Wake up man, do some research before you make foolish statements. Allah is Satan the Devil, Mohammed was possessed by Demons and all Muslims follow both.
Yes, because all Muslims adhere to every word and twisted interpretation of the Qur'an and Hadiths just like all Christians adhere to every word and twisted interpretation of the Old and New Testaments. I have not been led astray by anything; you have been led astray by your hate and religious bigotry. Your categorical statements I quoted before, as well as new ones like There are no so-called moderate Muslims and they will join the terrorists in a global carnage of all unbelievers, amply demonstrate to any intelligent reader which of us is the fool. I argue based on specific facts about specific individuals; you hurl baseless insults at entire swaths of humanity. I know and work alongside several of those moderate Muslims whom you claim do not exist; I have studied Islam and jihad; and above all I have been immersed in the allegations made against GTMO detainees and the utter lack of credible support for them.
I urge you to stop regurgitating the talking points you are getting from whatever extreme-right, Christian, and/or anti-Muslim hate groups you follow. Until you do you will merely perpetuate the cycle of violence and despair. Yes, you -- you are no better than the very small number of Muslims who think the same way you do. Those in the fringes of both sides, like you, who cling to an us vs them mentality, treat all members of the other as indistinguishable, support the torture/killing even of innocent people, etc. are the true terror.
To anyone else still reading, especially Uruguayans, do not be swayed by russmohr's myopia. The men who have recently settled in your country are just human beings who were put through a terrible ordeal by my country. They are no threat to you. They simply want to rebuild their lives and be reunited with their families. They, and countless Muslims the world over, are living proof of russmohr's lies. Please give them a chance -- for their sake, for yours, and for all of humanity's. Thank you.
Let the reader, if any, make your choice. I cannot believe that you studied Islam, if you did by reading the Qur'an, Hadiths and Shariah Law you would agree with me. It's written in black and white exactly what I stated above. Look up Qur'an 2:191, 5:51, 9:5, 3:85, 22:19, 3:28, 8:12, just to name a few. Get your Qur'an out and read, that's if you really have a copy of the Qur'an. The Qur'an promotes hate, deceit and lies, the Bible promotes love, compassion and peace. Our lives are guided by what we are taught, we in the western world follow the guideline of the Bible, Muslims on the other hand follow the guidelines of the Qur'an. Whether we are Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, atheist or whatever (other than Muslim) we base our society on what our religions teach us, the Muslims also base their lives on what their religion teaches them. We are talking about two opposite ideologies, one based on love, the other on hate ( Jehovah/Yahweh or Allah ). Don't just say you study Islam and the Middle East, you need to actually have to do it.
