Did The Saudis And The US Collude In Dropping Oil Prices?

Monday, December 29th 2014 - 20:09 UTC
Full article 17 comments

The oil price drop that has dominated the headlines in recent weeks has been framed almost exclusively in terms of oil market economics, with most media outlets blaming Saudi Arabia, through its OPEC Trojan horse, for driving down the price, thus causing serious damage to the world's major oil exporters – most notably Russia. Fracing tech and exploration took a long time and many companies to develop. I think the US government encouraged this due to a general idea that oil independence helps stop others from meddling with our foreign affair priorities and economy . I dont believe it was necessarily to react to current specific geopolitical situations we have today. Although I do think it is part of realizing the general plan.

Perhaps the blame should fall on Russia, Iran and Venezula for isolating themselves and not diversifying their economies. Cant blame the US for everything.

On a happy note I bought gas for 1.85 a gallon today and its droping like a rock.

I have read the whole article and haven't found a single sentance that can lead to the idea the title suggests. Yeah the Saudis pushed the price down, they said so themselves, but with the US Green light which had its own booming shale industry shifting the world upside down and that is also taking a blow?? Hmmmm
All in all the geopolitical needs of KSA and the other Gulf States got fully served

Give the way the OPEC cartel works it is a bit rich to talk about collusion between the US and House of Saud.

No evidence whatsoever in the article, just conjecture and what ifs.

Lets be honest though, giving Iran and Russia a good financial kicking is no bad thing.

“Global Research, a Canada-based think tank......”

Bahahahahahaha has anyone ever tried to read their crap? It reads like a ranting blog of someone like Nostrils - pathetic and full of shit.

Who cares if they conspired. They could, and there is nothing Russia, Iran or Venezuela can do. Idiot countries making idiot alliances that mean nothing when the west wants to flex its muscle.

Agreed - GR are outsiders trying to look in.

Think of the small-time U.S. investors in domestic fracking and fracking technologies, who will lose big-time on what was to be a global game-changer.

Now delayed indefinitely, how many will hang on long enough to cash in?

If the U.S. gov. were to be known to be involved - there would be a huge groundswell of resentment and accusations of betrayal.

    Not seeing that.

If we did conspire with the Saudis to topple Putin and Maduro and any other Petro$ Dictator it would make me really happy. I don't think Obama is smart enough to have thought of it though.
These nations are failing because they only have 1 export. They're too lazy and corrupt to bother creating anything to sell
The futures market is predicting oil at U$30 mid year.
    I hope so.
The USA fracking has changed the world dynamics. We have 300 yrs of proven Nat Gas reserves, we will start exporting it in 2 yrs when the terminals are done. The decrease in price will drive new cheaper technology its not like these companies are going to just pack up and do something else. The experiment, learn and adapt. We innovate. I am not worried in the least.

The US now has Saudis by the balls. Just think, if they dont collude the yanks will wipe out their oil wealth by pouring extra resources into fracking. Global power is now firmly back in the hands of America. As well as having the biggest and most effective military the US is once again the worlds number 1 Energy superpower. Goodness knows what this strategy will do to oil exploration worldwide. The North Sea is tottering, the Falklands oil hopes are probably dashed. And, basket case oil producers like Venezuala are in shtook big time. No doubt that the US wants to squeeze them, Russia and China too to maintain its global dominance. However cheap energy will boost the world economy. Obama is now recognised as an ineffective gasbag. When the Republicans get in next time that squeeze on selected balls is going to get even more intense. Lets hope that doesnt lead to more wars.

Is it not true, that in most cases , its the oil barons of middle east and other despots who supply most of the money for terrorist activities,

perhaps these countries needed to be brought down a peg or two.

Eight paragraphs down, Mr. Maduro of Venezuela is cited as a credible information source to support this “ article. ”

Sorry, but the author could have done better than that. Time to move on.

I'm all for semi-dictators like Putin and Maduro falling by the wayside, but those countries do not have any democratic traditions. If the current leaders fall, what will they be replaced with?

And a wounded bear can be dangerous to those standing next to it. I can only note that as the Russian economy has decreased, their intrusions and violations of our airspace has correspondingly increased...

So yay to cheap oil, but be careful what you wish for, guys...
