Full article 33 comments

Ladies in distress, particularly in summer time when going swimming is a ritual in Argentina: in effect because of the imports restrictions and lack of sufficient dollars, tampons are in short supply. They had been scarce all along the year but the situation peaked now that summer holidays have taken off. Read full article

Marcos- You are clearly totally embarrassed and humiliated by the abject failure of your shambolic country to even allow the importation in time of a basic ladies commodity!
Otherwise why go off topic at the start eh?

Another achievement for Cristina Kirchner´s government. Well done.
Please make sure those evil medicines / medical technologies also stay away. After all, you will always get medical attention at the most expensive private hospitals.

I get so tickled when I think back a year or two on Think Marcos et al telling me how ridiculously stupid I was and calling me every name they could think of since the amazing K heterodoxy policies are clearly working and have changed Argentina forever.
    Rubes.
Argentina is devolving just like Venezuela and next is Brazil and China.

What is it about South America? Bog roll shortage in Venezuala, now Tampon shortage in Argentina! If these countries cannot produce simple items like these one questions their ability to produce everything.

However, with his usual inane comments, Marcos gives us a clue - Argies are generally knuckle draggers.

    Chuckle chuckle…

@9 We do produce those simple items, but it turns out, the raw products we need to make them are also imported...

There's alot of ifs in that bloomberg article. I would hope 2015 is a better year. As far as the ladies things shortage, something like that happened here in NY years ago, you can read about the O.B. shortage on the net. Nuthin new under the sun. If there is a shortage of this thing, the govt should warn about toxic shock syndrome too and how one can get it from these things.....

    China? Seriously...China? I thought that they-were-set-to-biggest-economy-in-the-whole-wide-entire-world-ever.

I do realise that all you have predicted thus far has come to pass but.......

China? about to run over the financial cliff?

Why do you say that? ( can't say I would be upset IF it did happen.............. )

I think they can use a banana leaf and a slice of Victoria sponge or a twinky. The dog also gets a treat at the end of the day too.

However, it does need to be held in place with a pair of knickers, but i'm not sure Argentine women wear any. Cellotape?

HEy Pagina boi.....I mean tobi.....oh wait....it's Crusie ConTroll, any way........are you playing “Hunt Brothers” and cornering the market on tampons? If you were actually in Argentina, the women would be making you a real vagina.

Hey pagina boi.....ever find a restaurant....even a store for me to visit? All I ask is that you tell me the first thing I will see when I walk through that door and look to my right.......hell.....even left for that matter. I expect none though because you would actually have to be in Argentina to know this information.....which is why you avoid like an Argentine getting a bill.

    22. Yes China, they have been paying workers to build products nobody wants to buy, paying people to build cities that no one can live in, making their bank lend to these enterprises to keep them going and going and going. It is all about to collapse. Even the U$3T they have in reserves won't be enough to fix the mess they're in. The massive corruption has sucked untold billions out of China and into the rest ofthe world.
The system is all smoke and mirrors.
It is going to be really ugly when they have to let the banking system go...
    really ugly

#1 the surprising thing is anyone being willing to buy Argentine debt, but obviously if someone was to do so they would demand the highest returns as Argentina is, shall we say, an unreliable payer.

I was with my wife grocery shopping, she is Argentine. We came to the aisle with tampons and such and considered a smuggling operation. Any RG takers? There is no legal issues in the USA. The only downside is Arenting you may be looking at serious jail time if caught.
I can't believe how many different types and brands and choices women have for these things.

    30. I passed this article to a friend at one of the Int'l banks and he said the same thing. I told him either customs or the baggage crew would just steal it so don't bother.
If you're going to bring something just bring U$ they're more scarce than tampons.

Can you imagine being arrested at Ezeiza at customs for possession of tampons? I wonder if pads......Mini, regular or maxi's are on the “Do not fly list” ?

Argentina is coming unglued. It may have started as a slow drip.....but drip by drip it is accumulating. They are bleeding money endlessly. They need to plug the flow. This is like an economic curse. Now that I think of it.........maybe the government is hoarding the tampons.
