Falklands names Islander, civil engineer, as next head of Public Works

Many people settle for less money and fewer opportunities because they want to live in the Falklands.

Great to see that Mr Summers in this role, adding to the ongoing development of the Islands and being able to provide for his family in a safe, secure and beautiful environment.

Colin did work in the UK for many years and came back to the islands about 18 months ago. So we all already know he is capable of holding his own in the “big world” but why wouldn't he want to come home again? Of course he would.

I know more or less what he'll be on and you can live very comfortably in the islands for that amount and indeed much less.
The PWD and the community will be in good hands with Colin in control and that's nothing against Manfred who also did a very good job. In many ways it's a thankless job. When everything is going as it should nobody notices but when the roads get a bit rough or a job runs a little over, all of a sudden the islands are populated by 3,000 civil engineers.
