As are the Republicans. Though they are in step with the corporate world. I am glad my military days are over. The GOP was hellbent on USA population control.

Dems are the party of the people under 50k a year

GOP is the party for Corporations.

Somewhere in time there needs to be a party of the people for something in between. Give the GOP their way and the USA will look like Detroit.

Save America lifes......bring back the fucking draft

Ive always thought we should have mandatory military service right out of highschool.
I think it would solve a lot of problems we have with minorities and spoiled rich kids.
Dems overwhelming lost the middle class white vote. They'll not get it back in a long time. They have a fragile coalition of misfits with different goals.
I think odumbo ruined the brand for a generation.
It won't be long to see if I'm right.

I believe in the draft to give pause to false wars. I lost too many colleagues in the past two decades. I would like to see more politicians children die, better yet return disfigured and maimed. Swinging someone else's balls might be a second thought because it is too easy when one only has to pay in U$. ANd that....does not count as serving one's country.

@1, 3. Come now. I thought yankeeland was the 'land of the free'. Difficult to be 'free' when you're dying and can't afford medical care. Also difficult to be 'free' when your rent is three-quarters of your income. I expect, if I consulted an American friend, I could come up with other examples. So yankeeland is really the 'land of the free and economically viable'. Who does that rule out?
What an excellent idea! Mandatory military service. Who do you send forward first? Who gets the suicide missions? Who gets the substandard equipment? Who finds that air support is 'unavailable'? Might it be the ones that you can do without coming 'home'? Thought the US was 'egalitarian'. But really you're very 'class' conscious, aren't you? I've been to the States several times. An 'outsider' can see it. As an Englishman, I was faced with a dumb American female denigrating Britain. Why is that the US doesn't want to engage in overseas adventures without British support? You did once. Vietnam. You lost. Big time. Then again, remember the Gulf War? Schwarzkopf said he didn't need ground troops behind the enemy lines. Remember how he had to go to the BRITISH SAS and apologise?

The trouble with most yanks is that you can't recognise the difference in abilities between someone with 239 years of history and someone with 1,015. Only the weapons etc have changed. Be they military, political, economic. The US still has many lessons to learn.

Conqueror you shit get's old. Even your old fellow Brits realize your illness. You have freecare....I presume it includes psychiatric care, why not take advantage an use it.

You really give the good British people a bad name.

You are one angry old man. But you are an equal opportunity hater and just hate everyone. A classic and strong case for government sanctioned geriatricide......at say 70 and you are like 15 years past your expiration date.

[ and teach the feckless underclass employable skills, respect for others and discipline...]

    Totally agree.

Wish the same for the UK.

My preference is because of those that start meaningless conflicts rarely have the offspring in harms way.

    @ 9 Captain Poppy

    hmm... interesting point....
    I think...
hmmm... I am I correct in saying that you point of view, (POV), is that the more parents that have off-spring in the Military, the less they will be inclined to support politicians that 'invent' wars for their own vainglorious ambitions? Is that your POV?
Interesting thoughts, but I am not sure you take into account such matters as the media-fervour for bloodshed, the influence of the military-industrial complex and the sheer economic necessity of a foreign War every decade or so...
Sorry to sound so cynical, but I truly believe that the American people are willing to sacrifice a % of their children in order to keep alive the the 'American Dream' at home.
    .
I am, of course, happy to be proved wrong.....
    ;-)

You last sentence is incorrect. I spent enough time in service to know that. My POV is that is “politicians” have offspring serving, they may give pause and a longer thought before fighting for oil and other countries fake democracy and freedoms.
I understand what you are saying, believe me I know very well our economy is largely driven by the war machine. I still would prefer a draft for all rather than having the vast majority enlisting because there is no jobs to do anything else.
