“Strong cultural ties historically link Argentina and the UK

and when it does not, the likes of Alicia Castro calls us usurpers and pirates.

some would call that two faced,

All the usual kiddies clown town venues in London were already pre-booked and no else would take the booking without an upfront payment in British pounds from the argentine regime.

So they were forced to eat in.

Also the phrase about it being the first time at Castros gaff. Do they mean there'll actually be a second time?

She can kiss and blow the strong cultural ties.

I still want to know more about this suburban bbq. This article has no depth concerning the real matters at stake here.
    1. Where did she get her buns from, Aldi or Lidl?
    2. Did she try that notorious Argentine Embassy trick of buying ASDA own brand ketchup and then decanting it into ramekins to pass off as Hienz?
    3. Paper plates, or those nasty plastic picnic plates?
    4. Plastic cutlery, or 'just fingers, my darlings'? (Kristina has all the family silver)
    5. Prosseco or Cava? (we know it wasn't Champagne)
    6. Did she wear a hat? Yes, a friggin hat! No ex air-hostess, jumped-up, social-climbing, pretentious suburban housewife would be seen without a stupid cunting hat at her own wanky BBQ.

Was it just Tesco Economy burgers?

These are issues of Global Importance.

I think we should be told.

heehee, that was a fun thread.
And now Alicia is back offering more hypocritical bullshitt and joly japes for us to laugh at.

What sort of low life is she? Looks like a midget to me, are they all pygmies in Argentina, most of them have “ little man syndrome ” or“ little woman syndrome ” in Casyros case. Most small people have to shout because they think that no-one will hear them otherwise, probably right as we normally talk over their heads. LOL

Curiously enough, there's no mention of this momentous occasion on the Chaine des Rotisseurs web site.

You'd think at the very least they'd have declared their support for Argentina's legitimate rights in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, South Sandwich islands and surrounding maritime spaces.

Or maybe their silence on the matter is because they've figured out what these legitimate rights actually are?

Argentina has the most boring food scene of any country I've ever been to. Every restaurant has the EXACT same menu. EXACT SAME MENU. For having 400M people where are the Int'l restaurants? No Korean, Horrible and I mean Horrible Chinese, they don't have Sushi rice so the sushi tastes weird, 1 Indian Restaurant in the whole country and you can't find Lobster in all of BA.
Boring grilled steak and fries or Pizza and pasta and right now people are eating Gnocchi of the 31st. If you don't know what it is ask me. Its hilarious.

@7. WE English always eat REAL food. For instance, anything argie is immediately thrown back and a complaint is made. Local supermarkets have been made aware of argie methods of rearing and meat needs a health certificate. Still gets thrown back though because it's argie. Most everything else from latam is also thrown back. Whine is not permitted.

Fortunately, in the UK, most food is properly labelled. But these days I'm into boar, duck and venison. All certified reared in the UK. Won't even purchase lamb, or any other meat, from New Zealand.
@12. Looked up Gnocchi. Sounds horrible. What's wrong with British dumplings?

The strange custom of putting money under your plate of gnocchi at the end of each month is strange, but their strange custom of adding water to their red wine is reprehensible for my side of the Andes.
Saying that, they do and incredible damn good asado.
Their pears from Rio Negro and their very good Malbecs are worth mentioning as well.

    14. The steak used to be good but now its mostly grain fed in feedlots. My last trip I was really disappointed with the beef.
Everything that Arg used to be know for leather, steak, fashion, style is all gone.

All that's left is the memory of what was and the arrogance.
They are no more than any other SoAm nation.

What a collection of resentful, class-lacking comments. Come on people. This was about food and wine, and if a good asado was served, the guests probably enjoyed a unique feast. Read Chicureo at #14; he knows what he's talking about because we are close neighbours and our brother Chilenos also have heavenly plates such as curanto and excellent wines. Have a bit of class. The world is going forward without looking at mental midgets brooding in their little corner, burning in their own acidic juices.

@12 My friends in Buenos Aires say the same thing. The food is all the same and you can't get decent chicken for love nor money. I guess it was O.K. for me as I didn't live there permanently and could cook something different in my apartment.

@14 Gnocchi (ñoqui) is traditional Italian poor man's food brought to Argentina by the immigrants. The tradition of eating it at the end of the month is because it is cheap and most people have hardly any money left before pay day. Interestingly the word ñoqui has been twisted by Argentine slang and is now also used for a government employee who doesn’t do any work but turns up at the end of the month, around the 29th actually, to pick up his pay check.

The asado can be excellent or pretty awful depending on who is preparing it. Not all Argentines are born with the skill of cooking meat over fire. The custom of eating every last piece of the animal can be a little stomach churning but I accept that often the cheaper cuts are the more tasty, depending how you cook it.

For those of you who don't understand why Argentina is a mess you should read this:
    http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/2015/01/30/perons-legacy-inflation-in-argentina-and-an-institutionalized-fraud/

erón viewed fascist corporatism as a useful method of social organization by which socially harmonious class participation would lead to a fair distribution of national output and elude in this way the class warfare predicted by Marxist socialism. In fact, Perón’s third position, which consisted of standing against international capitalism and international communism, was nothing less than fascist corporatism.

It will never be a legitimate or civilized country. It will only get poorer and dumber with ever successive generation.

In France its quite the delicacy.

BTW the people in the UK/USA know more about wine than anyone in Argentina, why you may ask we can buy wine from anywhere in the world. The best wines that would never ever make it to your country. All you know is cheap malbec and grain fed beef.

    33. Paul, I was one of the first Americans looking at buying a winery in Mendoza after the last crash.
I know a lot more than you could ever hope to know.

In fact I had a lovely Burgundy last night that probably cost more than you make in a month. BTW the restaurant didn't have 1 wine from Argentina. Not one.

You may also want to look at a map and see where the UK is in relation to France, Spain and Italy.

The only reason you think Rgs wines are decent is because you've never had any other.
We've had this discussion before, Arg make good cheap wine just leave it at that.

Problem is I think the USA will ban wine from Argentina over the WTO ruling and it will force most of your producers out of business.

I loved watching Cronica when I lived there. It is hilarious. I love the little Primavera day count down song.
Psst can you find that online for me?

Silly I moved back to the USA because I was tired of paying ARMED Guards 24 hrs a day to watch my property in Znorte. They didn't even help with my neighbors kid getting kidnapped or the various commando assaults that happened too regularly in the surrounding houses.

I would love to know what the real crime rate is in the sh#thole of Argentina. Most crime won't get reported because everyone knows the police are in on it.

My favorite story is the one where the Belsunce (?) lady was found dead in her bathtub, the coroner said she slipped, well yeah she slipped, everyone would with 5 bullet holes in her head!!

    Uncivilized Rg baboons.

    @56 http://www.bubblear.com/tourist-shooting-mar-del-plata/

No one shot at me but I did get a serious case of food poisoning last time I was in Mar del Plata. A couple of Argentine friends (one of whom is a real tubby) convinced me to go there for a weekend and it was disappointing at best. The lasting souvenir of food poisoning meant it was over a month before I could eat properly.

    pair of nabos
mar del plata is shite during the summer, but it is not that bad during the rest of the year.
anyway, the most horripilant beach in the world is blackpool, by a country mile.
i know you dont even know where it is located, but i think you both would love it.

and do not forget to visit blackpool pleasure beach.
it will be your favorite place on earth.
    lol

MDP is no worse than any other city in Argentina. The beach is horrible, freezing brown water and wet blowing sand. Frankly its one of the worst beaches I've ever been to. It is the first time I saw people put tents on the beach to stay out of the blowing sand. Super weird.
For as long as the coast is there are no good beach town in the country,
At least there's stuff to do in MDP, Carilo, Pinamar and VG are so boring with terrible beaches. I don't know why anyone bothers going.

    Car sales dropped 40% yoy.
I doubt there will be any car mfgs left in Argentina in a few years.
    Then what??

to return to the topic, for a moment...

was it paper plates and 'wipe-clean' tableclothes?

I think we should be told.

i think hythe beach is possibly the worlds worst beach being behind a massive army firing range still didnt stop some lunatic family clambering over barbed wire to get too it! Took ages to get the idiots to leave.

    63. You might want to check the MDP beach pics today on Clarin. Not a lot of skinny Rgs on that beach by any definition.

I love how they talk about a yoy increase in Taxes collection of 30% like its a good thing. Inflation is running 40% and they upped taxes by a LOT! And its still 10% below inflation. You're in for a severe depression and hyperinflation shortly.
I can't wait until I see Rgs fighting over the last bag of beans in the street.
I hope Toby et al took my advice and stocked up on laundry detergent.
He'd be rich if he lived in Caracas.
Next up BA then San Paulo.
    :)

@66 But they were/are Argentine. So your statement is ridiculous. Nestor may be of Croatian, German and Swiss parents but he was Argentine.

The obesity rate in Argentina is almost 30% and you can't blame that on everyone else. Try looking around the next time you walk down the street.

Perhaps Paulie is incapable of 'walking down the street'.
Which would explain quite a lot.

    30% obesity rate in argentina??
    lol
    no.
    you are wrong as always.

as for kirchner and his useless son, they must be the exception of the rule.

you are jelous because the obesity rate in england / the ilsets is + 60%.

@71 Almost 30%. Have you been to Argentina recently?

@70 I never used to believe it when other people said PC does not live in Argentina but I am beginning to. He seems not to know his own country, even allowing for the fact that only the wealthy or itinerant farm workers seem to travel much.
