The annual dinner of the Chaine des Rotisseurs was held in the Embassy of Argentina in the United Kingdom and for the first time, the association dedicated its major event to Argentine food and wine. Over one hundred special guests enjoyed a menu of dishes and wines representing the best of the country’s regional culinary traditions. Read full article

I still want to know more about this suburban bbq. This article has no depth concerning the real matters at stake here.
1. Where did she get her buns from, Aldi or Lidl?
2. Did she try that notorious Argentine Embassy trick of buying ASDA own brand ketchup and then decanting it into ramekins to pass off as Hienz?
3. Paper plates, or those nasty plastic picnic plates?
4. Plastic cutlery, or 'just fingers, my darlings'? (Kristina has all the family silver)
5. Prosseco or Cava? (we know it wasn't Champagne)
6. Did she wear a hat? Yes, a friggin hat! No ex air-hostess, jumped-up, social-climbing, pretentious suburban housewife would be seen without a stupid cunting hat at her own wanky BBQ.

What sort of low life is she? Looks like a midget to me, are they all pygmies in Argentina, most of them have little man syndrome or little woman syndrome in Casyros case. Most small people have to shout because they think that no-one will hear them otherwise, probably right as we normally talk over their heads. LOL

Jan 31st, 2015 - 12:21 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You'd think at the very least they'd have declared their support for Argentina's legitimate rights in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, South Sandwich islands and surrounding maritime spaces.
Or maybe their silence on the matter is because they've figured out what these legitimate rights actually are?
Argentina has the most boring food scene of any country I've ever been to. Every restaurant has the EXACT same menu. EXACT SAME MENU. For having 400M people where are the Int'l restaurants? No Korean, Horrible and I mean Horrible Chinese, they don't have Sushi rice so the sushi tastes weird, 1 Indian Restaurant in the whole country and you can't find Lobster in all of BA.

@7. WE English always eat REAL food. For instance, anything argie is immediately thrown back and a complaint is made. Local supermarkets have been made aware of argie methods of rearing and meat needs a health certificate. Still gets thrown back though because it's argie. Most everything else from latam is also thrown back. Whine is not permitted.
Jan 31st, 2015 - 04:31 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Fortunately, in the UK, most food is properly labelled. But these days I'm into boar, duck and venison. All certified reared in the UK. Won't even purchase lamb, or any other meat, from New Zealand.
@12. Looked up Gnocchi. Sounds horrible. What's wrong with British dumplings?
The strange custom of putting money under your plate of gnocchi at the end of each month is strange, but their strange custom of adding water to their red wine is reprehensible for my side of the Andes.

What a collection of resentful, class-lacking comments. Come on people. This was about food and wine, and if a good asado was served, the guests probably enjoyed a unique feast. Read Chicureo at #14; he knows what he's talking about because we are close neighbours and our brother Chilenos also have heavenly plates such as curanto and excellent wines. Have a bit of class. The world is going forward without looking at mental midgets brooding in their little corner, burning in their own acidic juices.

Feb 01st, 2015 - 10:39 am - Link - Report abuse 0Culinary delight in BA . There are only 8 supposedly Indian Restaurants in the whole of BA and that is it, otherwise it is steak and whatever. When I got married to an Argentine I had to teach her to cook as she could only cook steak.
@12 My friends in Buenos Aires say the same thing. The food is all the same and you can't get decent chicken for love nor money. I guess it was O.K. for me as I didn't live there permanently and could cook something different in my apartment.
Feb 01st, 2015 - 11:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0@14 Gnocchi (ñoqui) is traditional Italian poor man's food brought to Argentina by the immigrants. The tradition of eating it at the end of the month is because it is cheap and most people have hardly any money left before pay day. Interestingly the word ñoqui has been twisted by Argentine slang and is now also used for a government employee who doesn’t do any work but turns up at the end of the month, around the 29th actually, to pick up his pay check.
The asado can be excellent or pretty awful depending on who is preparing it. Not all Argentines are born with the skill of cooking meat over fire. The custom of eating every last piece of the animal can be a little stomach churning but I accept that often the cheaper cuts are the more tasty, depending how you cook it.
What did they serve? Asado and choripan?

erón viewed fascist corporatism as a useful method of social organization by which socially harmonious class participation would lead to a fair distribution of national output and elude in this way the class warfare predicted by Marxist socialism. In fact, Perón’s third position, which consisted of standing against international capitalism and international communism, was nothing less than fascist corporatism.
It will never be a legitimate or civilized country. It will only get poorer and dumber with ever successive generation.

BTW the people in the UK/USA know more about wine than anyone in Argentina, why you may ask we can buy wine from anywhere in the world. The best wines that would never ever make it to your country. All you know is cheap malbec and grain fed beef.
Nobody except Rgs drinks Malbec if they have another choice.

the people in the uk / u.s do not know a shite about food and a lot less about wines.
the best wines in the world are from france, spain and italy.
and we inherited those traditions.
hence, we are the 4th country in producing top class wines.
and it is not only malbec.
we also produce world class chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet france, etc.
clearly your knowledge is very, very poor.

In fact I had a lovely Burgundy last night that probably cost more than you make in a month. BTW the restaurant didn't have 1 wine from Argentina. Not one.
You may also want to look at a map and see where the UK is in relation to France, Spain and Italy.
The only reason you think Rgs wines are decent is because you've never had any other.
We've had this discussion before, Arg make good cheap wine just leave it at that.
Problem is I think the USA will ban wine from Argentina over the WTO ruling and it will force most of your producers out of business.
Once they're gone they probably won't be replaced.

and yes there are korean, chinese, indian, japanese and thai restaurants every where.
except the japanese and thai, nobody cares too much for chinese (yuck) or korean food.
it is most of all for brainless guys with no sense for bon goût.
you want the best lobster, poulpe galicien, etc with the same quality to those you can eat in barcelona, madrid, bilbao etc?
go to oviedo, betanzos, iñaki, casal de catalunya, etc.
probably you cannot even afford a glass of water there, lol.
Boring grilled steak and fries or Pizza and pasta and right now people are eating Gnocchi of the 31st. If you don't know what it is ask me. Its hilarious.

I can't wait until I see Rgs fighting over the last bag of beans in the street.
I hope Toby et al took my advice and stocked up on laundry detergent.
He'd be rich if he lived in Caracas.
Next up BA then San Paulo.

@66 But they were/are Argentine. So your statement is ridiculous. Nestor may be of Croatian, German and Swiss parents but he was Argentine.
Feb 04th, 2015 - 08:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The obesity rate in Argentina is almost 30% and you can't blame that on everyone else. Try looking around the next time you walk down the street.
Perhaps Paulie is incapable of 'walking down the street'.

Feb 05th, 2015 - 04:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@70 I never used to believe it when other people said PC does not live in Argentina but I am beginning to. He seems not to know his own country, even allowing for the fact that only the wealthy or itinerant farm workers seem to travel much.
