“Good cruise season” for Punta Arenas with some 60.000 visitors

Punta Arenas in the extreme south of Chile is expecting some 60.000 visitors this cruise season (2014/15) according to estimates from the local port authority Empresa Portuaria Austral, EPA, which is considered a 'good season' and an improvement over previous years. Read full article

    Compared to dismal Ushuaia Punta Arenas is a very nice place for a cruise port. Lovely town centre with great restaurants and cafes. Two nice museums with Magellans ship, Shackletons converted lifeboat and a wonderful folk museum with old houses plant and equipment from when the town was developed in the 19th Century. And… no tyre burning, rock throwing mobs of Argie thugs either, just nice friendly Chileans.
    Top Gear were checking their number plates down in Oz on last nights show just to make sure they didnt offend the locals. With Chilean flags lapel pins last week and the number plate check this week they are still poking fun at the Argie knuckle draggers! Bahahahaha
