A London court ruled on Friday that English law applies to a disputed case involving interest payments on Euro-denominated Argentine debt, making a payout more likely in spite of conflicting orders from a US court. Read full article
The Bank of NY Mellon is still held by the US judgement. It will need to get permission from Griesa before any money can be released.
I am not saying Griesa won't do it, just that he will have to rule on it. But you never can tell when it comes to a dick sizing competition between legal systems.

@1, 3. Oh, do tell. Griesa rules OK!! No money moves unless Griesa says so. Funnily, maggotland is pushing for a legal framework for debt restructuring at the UN. That'll be good won't it? A legal framework that 'might' apply if 193 countries legislate to apply it. Leaving 13 countries that aren't UN members. And then the bond conditions that specifically exclude the 'framework'. Still, all those politicians and experts have to do something to justify the millions (hundreds of millions in the case of argieland) in expenses. Should be good for at least ten years!
First off Danielle......in the big picture I am not here about maggots not paying what they are contractually obligated to pay or the fact of the matter, most RG's possess no sense of responsibility, so why would I care about this ruling? Plus I highly doubt it matters unless the English court can force over the RG funds in USA banks.
ONE question.....why do SAssholians love youtube so much? I find it doubtful anyone views them.
If you don't hear from me daniella.........think of me at Stratton as the snow falls.
The Judge reaffirmed the propriety of the U.S. court’s injunction freezing the funds because BNY, as trustee “can properly be the subject of any orders which that court considers appropriate”. The court also expressed it's reluctance to get involved in the pari passu proceedings in the U.S.: “The Court is, of course, very concerned not to intrude improperly into matters which are before U.S. Courts.”
The only item granted was a declaration — which was not even disputed by BNY — that, under English law and per the bond documents, the funds sit in trust. But no relief was granted.
@ DanyBerger
This ruling only means the funds in question can be judged under English law, it is still up to Griesa to release said fund from his jurisdiction, the money being in NY, before any ruling could be made in the UK.
Not much of a victory, even by Argy standards.
Parasitic though these vulture funds undoubtedly are, if you even think you are winning, never mind have won this dispute, then mate you are simply not in the real world.
This is a case where Argentina has a strong moral argument, however due to the totally incompetent/populist approach of your government to the issue, you are still going to lose where it counts, in the courts holding your money/assets.
This is costing Argentina a fortune, yet they are still ahead of you at every step, with a long way still to go.
At this point the smart money has to be on them to win, in the end.
Singer's life is good. His style of living goes forward as does that of the rotting roadkillians. If he defers liquidation of rotting roadkill it only extends the suffering of said rotting roadkillians. Paul goes where he wants. Buys what he wants. And generally enjoys life.

@19. Really? Could you produce your evidence? Do you have any other incarnations? YB could probably advise, but I reckon Obama had his chance. Could have lodged an amicus curiae brief. Didn't. No doubt judging that political interference with a judicial process would be criticised around the world. Is argieland feeling confident now that it's sold itself to China? Have you noticed that all those wonderful 'agreements' provide for direct recruitment? That means the Chinese companies can directly recruit Chinese 'workers'. And those workers may include military personnel. I wonder if the idea is that the project sites will be under Chinese military control? Doubtful if the argies could stop the Chinese from taking control of military installations. Could the Chinese takeover of argieland be imminent? How will argies feel about being invaded and occupied? However, enough of wishful thinking.
Back to the subject of the article. There is an interesting feature. NML has WON a number of judgments against argieland in English courts. I would expect NML to open a case looking for resolution of a number of judgments by taking dividends due to 'local' bondholders. The 'local' bondholders would, after all, be parties to argie evasion of the judgments.

@26. As recently posted on another thread here. 28 murders just in Rosario in the month of January. Halfway through February. That'll be 42 murders by now, just in Rosario. Multiply by how many 'cities'? Twenty? 840 murders? Wow. As of 2012, the rate of murders in the US was 4.7 per 100,000. The rate in argieland was 5.5 per 100,000. Go for a walk. One big question is how many of the murders are carried out by the argie Federal Police?
@28. You'd know all about lies. What else do argies do?
@30. An incorrect word. Not 'apathetic'. The word is 'pathetic'. Can't you see it? Divert, divert, divert. Lie, lie, lie. Have you seen anything yet that justifies their existence? I watch those various 'aliens' programmes on cable tv. I listen to the theory that the U.S. actually has a secret space force. And the possibility of nudging an asteroid so that it smashes into argieland is what? Go for the U.S. Space Force!
@33. And the Russians will do England a favour and obliterate scotchland!
@39. Nobody from anywhere is 'jealous' of any argie. Take a look at the facts. In argieland, there are only graduations. Oppression, corruption, criminality, poverty, desperation, death. Probably best to be dead. Then there are the cowards that flee abroad and live on state handouts. The difference between argies and Somalis is what? Occasionally Somalis tell the truth!
@40. Any tankers docked yet?
@43. Not to worry. Argieland will be looking for incredibly efficient scotch gas and oil. Oops and the price has dropped. Scotchland needs to hang on to every litre. In an attempt to hang on to free prescriptions and free university education. But it needs English help. Hang on, I thought scotchland was rich! Except that, in truth, it's just a bunch of skiving scroungers. Just like argieland. Scotchland has massive debts. So does argieland. Scotchland is run by corrupt, criminal liars. So is argieland. Scotchland has nothing worth having. Neither does argieland.
You know I was thinking about how many times these fools told me I was wrong Argentina is on the road to good times, won decade, inflation doesnt exist, blah blah blah
How easily they forget
I guess when you're wrong so often its better to forget.
Silly losers.
Doesn't matter, none of it does. The poor dove above me just doesn't understand climate and thermo-dynamics.
Thanks to global warming which the USA helped cause, the mean northeast pacific ocean temperature has been raised beyond a tipping point.
This warmer ocean off the NorthAmoan west coast causes the compressed air stream in the atmosphere to move north as warm air from the ocean expands. This causes a high pressure to build in the west of NorthAmoland, which brings sun and warmer temperatures on land (west USA and Canada). This raises the ocean temperature even more, reinforcing the vicious cycle.
This results in all storms bypassing California, USA's food basket, and it is causing it to become a desert.
SIMULTANEOUSLY, the warmer ocean feeds much higher moisture and energy levels to the storms in the ocean, which then have far more rain/wind/snow. These supercharged storms are then deflected far north into Siberia, Alaska due to the high pressure in west North Amoland. There they pick up arctic air, and then go plunging down to Eastern North Amoland. This causes massive snow and cold in that area.
Since the mechanism cannot be stopped, snow will simply start turning to ice, and eventually the pattern will be so strong the summers will bet shorter and the snow won't melt. An Ice Cap will build burying New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington, etc.
This new icecap will create a new superdry wind blowing off it into the southern USA, causing massive drying and dust, creating a vast unusable scrubland.
West USA/California: desert
North USA: ice cap
South USA: scrubland
And that will be the end of that hapless country.
Just as I had warned yankee and captain two years ago. Now it's too late. But... there's always Argentina.

Feb 16th, 2015 - 02:01 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Why were they left out?
What a bunch of lonely losers.
Feb 16th, 2015 - 05:11 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@28.
@40. Any tankers docked yet?

Not a smart people
Doesn't matter, none of it does. The poor dove above me just doesn't understand climate and thermo-dynamics.
Feb 16th, 2015 - 08:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Thanks to global warming which the USA helped cause, the mean northeast pacific ocean temperature has been raised beyond a tipping point.

My grandmother is being paid by the Argies so this judgment does not change. It will increase security. From the solicitors it allows the next step of seizing BNY assets. The Belgium case coming up in the next couple of months. That will allow Euroclear assets as well. Expect robber baron scum to go to gaol.
