UNASUR need to be criticising Venezuela for oppressing its own people.

What will it take? A massacre of opposition protestors? Thousands being 'disappeared'.

It's because of these stupid statements and a refusal to take a stand against a member is why they'll always be considered a joke. And a bad joke at that.

And yesterday they gave him the power to do almost anything. And I am sure he will. Just watch as the opposition disappears.

    @2 MC

Agreed. And these idiots just stand there and applaud him.

But when the sh!t hits the fan, and the bodies are piled up in the streets, they'll be the 1st to distance themselves from Maduro, and state how they never supported him.

They're a pathetic weak bunch with no moral stance on anything.

And after the dust has settled South America will still blame the USA and the EU because they refuse to accept any responsibility.

Who on the planet apart from the chidren 'ruling' the countries of SA takes any notice of them: NOBODY, that's the answer.

MADuro will only stop when a bullet rips through his head and it needs to be sooner rather than later.

I think that trying to talk to these zealots would be like trying to talk to ISIS or the Taliban...or Iran. What a waste.

Strange that MercoPress, on the same continent, doesn't appear to know how to spell COLOMBIA.

However, it might be a good idea to impose more sanctions on those funny little latam 'countries'. Perhaps the USA could declare unasur to be a terrorist organisation. Imagine wanting to have sanctions on a limited number of criminals from a criminal country lifted. Perhaps the USA could do it on a graduated scale. Three more for Venezuela. Ten for argieland. Nine for Bolivia. Eight for Brazil. Seven each for Ecuador and Peru. Four each for Paraguay and Uruguay. One each for the others.

    The statement:

'Member states of the Union of South American Nations express their rejection of the Executive Decree of the Government of the United States, adopted on March 9, 2015, it constitutes an interventionist threat to the sovereignty and the principle of nonintervention in the internal affairs of other states.

The Member States of UNASUR reaffirm their commitment to the full observance of international law, the peaceful settlement of disputes and the principle of nonintervention, and reiterate the call for governments to refrain from applying unilateral coercive measures that violate international law .

UNASUR reiterates its call on the government of the United States to evaluate and implement alternatives for dialogue with the government of Venezuela, under the principles of respect for sovereignty and self-determination of peoples. It therefore requests the repeal of that Executive Order.

    Quito, March 14, 2015'

Very shameful my country participated in this. Socialists are all hypocritical when it comes to human rights, democracy and justice.
