Type 23 frigate HMS Lancaster sailed from her home in Portsmouth last week for a routine nine-month Atlantic patrol tasking, which includes the Falklands and South Georgia. She is the first ship in the Royal Navy to deploy with the new Wildcat helicopter, and her crew are wearing the newest naval uniform in 70 years. Read full article

“The ship will take over from HMS Dragon and expects to cover in excess of 30,000 nautical miles and visit up to eighteen different countries. The deployment, which takes the ship across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, will build on the UK’s strong ties with its allies and continue the UK’s commitment to the region.”

... and there is not a single thing Argentina can say or do to prevent this taking place. But we can expect some ineffectual whining, no doubt.

Hope you have a good trip, I am sure you will be welcomed in many ports in LatAm.
    Colombia, Brazil, Chile for starters...

Just think what the Wildcat can do, apart from the ship-this is surely worth an Argentine complaint to the UN.

It would be nice to see two Apaches deployed to MPA, to accompany the Chinooks to respond to any remote island raid by the RGs.

I hope to see the ship in Valparaiso, and am especially curious of the new uniforms. Our uniform are similar to your traditional one, except for rank.
Obviously it will be fun to see the upgrades to the Type-23 compared to the ones being done to ours.

I missed the Dragon, but Chile pays a great attention for obvious reasons to Type 23s, and BAE Systems services ours as well. Any modifications are interesting to see.

Good to see. I wish HMS Lancaster and her ships company “God speed” and hope they have a safe and successful patrol.

Interesting isn't it, Argentina would have the world thinking its just the UK involved in territorial disputes, clearly that's far from the truth

Quite a few of them in South America right? Which in turn are DWARFED by the disputes in good ol' peaceful EUialand, where of course the UK is a protagonist, as usual.

But what can we expect of a nation with this utterly atrocious and morally reprehensible record. Maps don't lie:

And btw, where have the latest genocides taken place? Europe. (Yugoslavia0

Where have the latest talks of rebuilding border controls occurred? Europe (Western)

Good for the Falklanders, they deserve a peaceful existence.

So now that it's been confirmed there is no threat (and that being the only reason the UK even glanced an eye towards Argentina), can you just get on with it in your Falkland Islands, leave us alone and never interact with us again?

Good for you. All you have to do is to persuade YOUR govt. to give up all pretensions to the Falklands and associated territories and the problem is solved.
We will no longer have to hear from the whining, bitching and self pitying Argentinians and they can then stew in their own juice..
You could then ban the use of the English language in books, TV, films etc. and in any educational or cultural matters. Just think, a racially pure ARGENTINA, the jewel in the Spanish speaking world.
What a paradise that would be for you all.....and indirectly for us !

We already have only Spanish in our music, by choice btw.

Spanish in movies, by choice btw, because we have a healthy film industry.

Obviously a vigorous writing industry too.

We could completely fine keep on having no problems with those even if all the Anglo nations sank in the ocean tomorrow.

But we still appreciate the best you have to offer, as the best German, French, Italian, Chinese, Brazilian, Russian, etc have to offer. That is the major difference between us and you (the Anglo), who could tell a foreign writer or music song from their missing teeth, that's how provincial and limited your lives are.

@15. Just as a matter of interest, why are there talks going on between the EU and mercosur to extend European 'influence' in South America? I'll tell you how it works. It starts as 'influence'. Then the EU explains that certain goods cannot be imported into the EU unless certain minor regulations are complied with. You'll be amazed at how many EU regulations are considered 'minor'. But the EU will explain how. To make things easier, a number of organisations will need to be set up. Mostly operated by EU civil servants because of their familiarity with the subject. With any luck, before things get into full swing, Britain will have left the EU. Knowing the number of 'Anglos' that come here, why do YOU insist on coming here to 'interact'? You could stick with the spanish version. You could go somewhere else entirely. Could it be that you come here in the hope that some brain, experience, intelligence, knowledge, responsibility, thought, wisdom will seep across?

since when you, a hopeless monoglot, know what the other hispanoparlantes say about our wonderful version of spanish?
what the fuck can you know about foreign languages when you dont even understand english?
the only idiom you understand is the noise of your stinky farts, you flatulent fatso.

as for the definition of the verb patrol, according to the oxford dictionaries, here you have the one that fit the best:

[transitive] patrol something to drive or walk around a particular area, especially in a threatening way.

    fatso and imbecile...great combination.

@32 Since you ignored me on another thread I will ask you these questions again.

If YOU needed to get to a CT scanner, how long would it take Pauly? A serious answer now, how long would it take to get someone from your area to a CT scanner?

Also, if the Falklands become an Argentine territory, would we be required to have a CT scanner on the islands? Or a University? And what would become of our natural resources (fishing, oil etc)? Would we have a degree autonomy from the state (like Hong Kong)? Can you answer these adult questions Pauly?

Now if Pauly can't answer this, is there at least ONE Argentine who will? I'm simply curious as Argentinians are always saying the Falklands are Argentine but I have never heard what Argentina's plans for the Islands are should they gain sovereignty.

As paulcedron is incapable of answering any question sensibly, I can give you a partial answer to your query on how long it would take me to get to a CT scanner in case of emergency:

    1) After obtaining an order from my GP, it would take me (in clock time) 45 minutes approximately to get to the clinic which has the apparatus, BUT it is the only CT scanner in an area which attends to about 35000 people so there would surely be a waiting time involved which I am unable to calculate.

With regard to your other questions, I can only state that at present in the whole Province of Neuquén (aprox. 551,000 inhabitants [census 2010]) there are 3 privately owned CT scanners and 1 owned by the provincial government. I doubt that if we somehow took over sovereignty of your Islands we could afford to put up a CT scanner for 3,000 people!!!! The same would go for a university. As to the natural resources they would be squandered and over exploited until you were left with sweet FA.
