I wonder how this will play out in Caracas?

Maburro will be sweating in his chinese-made polyester track-suit wondering how far his best mate will sell him out, now he can no longer subsidise Cuba due to the oil-price collapse.

I said a couple years ago that the USA fracking and our abundant oil and gas would change the world dynamics.
Always hard to see where a change will lead.

Perhaps Obumma wants to leave a legacy when he leaves office which will endure a 1,000 years.

He has singularly failed so far and putting his trust in an unreconstructed multi-millionaire commie bastard doesn't seem like the right play to me.

    @3
Absolutely, the US has got nothing from the Cuban regime in exchange for lifting the embargo. Its only about Obama's legacy.

    No democratic reforms
    No substancial free market reforms

The Castros die in a warm bed.

Getting rid of an irritant benefits the US most.

Cuba is secondary to this but will change beyond all recognition because of it.

They are not getting rid of the Castros and the Latam continental left.

The US got fooled and benefited from nothing.

When was that ever a possibility?

The US is getting rid of an electoral albatross and an international annoyance that they don't benefit from.

After Cuba, the US is the country that will benefit most economically.

They are bending over backwards because Obama wants his legacy mark. It was inevitable that over time Cuba would re incorporate itself into NAFTA and the Caribbean trade zone, but it should have being done only AFTER the regime collapsed and proved as a failure like it did in the Eastern block.

It would have being a definitive nail in the coffin for the leftwing latams and US interest in the region.

What happens to cuba during a republican administration? @4..why would the US get the election reforms? Why would that be a concession that benefits Obama or the US?

This may have cost the Dems the State of Florida.
    So I'm happy.
Odumbo never does anything right. He's turning into a worse form of Carter (as I predicted) and is now more popular in Cuba than the USA.
I hope he's destroyed the Dem brand like Carter did for 30yrs.
That is the only good thing that could come out of this horrible nightmare.

Meanwhile the reaction in VNZLA is to further the plan to become North Korea. Going against the Consititution, (re-drafted by Chavistas during their reign, no less!), he continues in the brainwashing and control of the population.

I hope this gets discussed at the summit, it is appalling and terrifying just how far Maburro wants to take the chavista 'civil-military society' project. He was just looking for the excuse... Obama has given it to him on a plate.

”The youth wing of the governing United Socialist Party of Venezuela (JPSUV) and the 13,000 Units of Battle Hugo Chávez are to pass the master list of their members to the commanders of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB) in order to enlist them in military garrisons, according to reports published in Venezuelan daily El Nacional on Monday.“
”Ongoing moves to integrate political organizations into defense structures may contravene the Venezuelan Constitution, which stipulates in Article 328 that “the National Armed Forces (FANB) constitute a professional institution by their essence, free from political activism, organized by the state to guarantee the independence and sovereignty of the nation.”
Nevertheless, on Saturday, March 14, all young government supporters in Carabobo State were called to attend the nearest FANB barracks and enlist in the National Militia, in a conscription drive authorized by its commander Major General Yorman Rubio.”

@ 9 In other words what Obama has done was gift the Castros the biggest gift and victory they have ever achieved: immortality.

The Latam left will always say, see ?? “Castro stood with his communist regime challenging the US for more than half a century and finally the US bucked, lifted the embargo. The revolution ultimately was a success. Now they are rich[after investment and trade from the US resumes]”

I can believe how stupid the FP analysts that run the Obama administration are.

    12. I've dealt with people very high up at the WH. They're extremely arrogant and not smart. They have a agenda and they don't care who or what gets in the way.
The Dems who've been running the country for the last decade or so are some of the most corrupted politicians we've had in 100 yrs.
I am ashamed it has gone on as long as it has.
I hope it is righted with the next Prez.

Glad I got to visit Cuba before all the fat rednecks go there and turn it into another Miami.
