The Falkland Islands are set to have another bumper year of Illex squid catches with 150,000 tons already caught this season. Last year the fishery had a record catch of over 306,000 tons. Shame that those people are being denied their due because of their own Govt.s foolish behaviour.
Cristina is keeping them poor and supplicant on her hand-outs.
Meanwhile, the Falklanders enjoy freedom amd prosperity.
Nice!
One day the saying as rich as a Falkland Islander will be commonplace I reckon.
Apr 10th, 2015 - 07:02 am - Link - Report abuse 0I'd like to draw the attention of my malvinista compatriots to the very traditional British name of the Senior Scientist at the Falkland Islands Fisheries Department, Dr Sasha Arkhipkin. Obviously an implanted British person;)

Apr 10th, 2015 - 02:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The Argies don't see it that way though. Every time there is bad news about the Argie economy or good news about the Falklands' economy they always say it's because of colonial injustice
On the Islands: A well-managed, competent, prosperous fishing industry free from corruption, and getting better every year.
Across the pond in Argentina: An over-fished, under-managed fishing industry riddled with corruption, incompetence, arrogance and pulling in less and less every year.
But the Argies don't get the connection. I bet Filmus is writing a press release right now to tell the whole world how all the problems in the Argie fishing industry are due to the Brits refusal to clear out the Islands and hand them over...
Simon 3 - yes correct, Sasha has been here many years with his family, children born here, typical of the 20 plus different origen nationalities that make up the Falklands people today - and many of these folks of non-british origen are on the electoral role - and guess what they voted for in the referendum?
Apr 10th, 2015 - 08:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Once they got the info on the Falklands electorate make up of today Argentina has shut up a bit about their earlier claim of The Brits voting to stay Brits!
