Three oil explorers drilling in the Falkland Islands, including Houston based Noble Energy have shelved plans to drill a second well in the south and east Falklands following the steep drop in oil prices, one of the partners said on Monday. Partners, which also include London-listed Falkland Oil and Gas (FOGL) and Edison International, said they would continue drilling in other parts of the region. Read full article

@2 It is only unviable because of the current oil prices, the oil itself is perfectly fine. I know this due to my connections in the oil industry.

Anyway it's not like we are relying on oil, i couldn't care less if a single drop never reached the surface, at the end of the day at least you grubby thieves still don't have the Falklands.

@1. Typical argie pervert ignorance. I won't set it all out because you don't have the education or intelligence to comprehend. Is there anyone in SoAm that can take this perverted moron somewhere and drown it? Slowly. There's a prize if you make it last a week.

“It is only unviable because of the current oil prices, the oil itself is perfectly fine. I know this due to my connections in the oil industry.”

your connections with oil industry could be summarized in cleaning toilets in a gas stations.

you like the rest of the assholes here do not know a shite about oil industry, and worse, about life.

it is very funny how these thieves, go-getters and arrivistes of these “oil companies” can deceive a group of 2000 bennys.

    not a surprise.
the bennys are not known for their intelligence, no?

    Did you read the article?

“Oil explorers across the globe have scrapped expensive drilling work to rein in costs on the back of a steep decline in oil prices and instead focus on projects that will bring more immediate returns.”

If that is so then why do you concern yourself about its extraction?
Its oil, property of the Falklands Islanders, who have perfectly good title under International Law,do they not?
But you can always take the matter to the ICJ.
Out of interest, why have Argentina not done this?

    @5

Your idioticy has no boundaries does it?

Don't you realise that is Oil Prices can go down, they can also go up too. In other words, when the Oil price has gone up, they are likely to go and drill there anyway. Where at the moment with the Oil Price being the lowest it has been for years, it makes more economic and business since, to concentrate on extraction of oil where they know Oil is and make a profit, then to spend millions on exploration wells with no guarantee of the black stuff being there or being in viable quality or quantity!

    Jesus, its not rocket science!!

    9 imbecile
the important thing in any oil investment is:
    1. the quality of oil.
    2. the oil well potential.

now let's see what happens in the rest of the world:
Essar Plans Exploration Drilling in Two Offshore Blocks in India, Vietnam
Karoon Gas Finds Hydrocarbons at Echnida-1 Well in Brazil's Santos Basin
Statoil Makes Gas Find Near Aasta Hansteen Field
Transerv Gets Ready to Drill 2 Wells at Warro Gas Field in Perth Basin

as you can see, you knucklehead, the industry continues with its job.
it is only in the stinky islets, where those cesspits cannot even be called oil wells, where exploration and drilling are suspended.

and do you believe in this article, you imbecile?
do you think that this 4th class newspaper or that twat of the picture are going to tell you the truth about those cesspits, you retarded fart blower?

if you want to have a minimal notion about the current state of oil industry, start reading rigzone.
but i strongly doubt that you can understand a shite.
clearly the fat is clogging that little brain you have in that fat head.

If I read this correctly, they haven't stopped drilling - they are just moving to a different area to that originally planned for a 2nd well?

  • golfcronie

Hows PUTA MIERDA going Paul? Drilling any more wells or is it too expensive to drill and frack, could be ok to find conventional oil deposits but you would need US$ 70 a barrel to break even. Why don't you read oilzone?

Marcos, but how do you explain the fact that the same number of holes is to be drilled? Further spudding in the south is still possible. Also in the North.

Its a pain for you I know, but Argentina is utterly irrelevant with regard to this campaign. Also, the failure of this campaign is irrelevant to the islanders future prosperity.

You are correct, same amount of wells drilled, they are just targeting the higher potential in the North Falklands Basin. As I understand it the Rhea Prospect has been firmed up with the Zebedee discovery. A very nice little cluster of fields developing there with good clean Lower Cretaceous sandstone reservoirs.

Mr Filmus said the area being explored was “as much ours as the centre of Buenos Aires.
It’s ours, all ours and we aren’t sharing with a bunch of pirates,
We will fight you in the courts, in the arena , and in the streets, in the name of peace.

Adding that the firms were ”performing illegal acts by entering Argentine territory
Tensions between London and Buenos Aires have again been raised after Argentina initiated legal proceedings against three British and two American companies drilling for oil and gas off the Falkland

We are determined to cause maximum chaos and misery

    British reply,
The Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has slammed the move as “an outrageous piece of bullying”.
“It's an outrageous abuse of international procedure and we will take any action we can to resist it”
Mr Hammond went on to say that the Foreign Office was talking to the United States about what possible action to take
