Following on the lead of Uruguay's new government, Paraguay has also demanded Mercosur returns to its roots and original objective with free circulation of goods and no obstructions of any kind or impediments such as tariff barriers. The five countries group has been paralyzed and negotiations for an encompassing cooperation and trade agreement with the European Union remain stalled. Read full article

Why bother? Mercosur is a failure. Latam countries are too greedy and selfish. Although the result has not been good, the EU had one advantage over mercosur. It had undergone a major war. The major area of conflict in a world war. There are problems. The EU has largely forgotten the Second World War. Who 'leads' the EU? The defeated and the conquered. And there's a psychological aspect. Germany wants to forget and return to being the main European power. There have been reports that Germany is considering removing examination of WW2 from its educational system. France wants to forget that it was conquered. It harks back to the days of Napoleon. And it just hates the idea that its 'old enemy', Britain, ended the war by saving France.

So Latam needs a major war. It might then remember that no-one is really safe. MadUrine's Venezuela is prime for taking on the role of nazi Germany. There are weak adjoining countries that it can invade. It has armed forces that are totally unrealistic for its actual situation. Would argieland assume the role of fascist Italy? Well, Mussolini was a nutjob and so is Kirchner. I think it's called the 'Messiah' complex.

It doesn't really matter. Mercosur has changed from being a trade organisation to being a backup for unasur. Paraguay had to face two 'organisations', both under the same control, forcing the same result. Must be so much better to be able to say that both mercosur AND unasur condemn Paraguay. So much better than saying that argieland doesn't like what's happening.

We can watch and wait to see what will happen. Democratic, freedom-loving countries with human principles will break free. The 'rump' will be the control freaks.

In the meantime, the EU should abandon these pointless 'negotiations'. The European people don't really want latam goods. Sell the stuff to the Chinese and Russians. They don't believe in quality control either!
