    The truth about MGOs.
It all depends what protein the added genes code for.

But people do have the right to know what they are consuming. Freedom of choice, even if it’s not based on scientific evidence, after all Halal meat is labeled. Why can’t GMOs be labeled ?? Yeah big companies will lose big money, but how long will the consumer keep on choosing expensive food over GMO produce???

And yes Syngenta+ Monsanto is far too much and far too big.

Agreed. There have been several cases of GMO contamination here in Chile and Monsanto has acted like a bully in international agriculture.

If not for companies like Monsanto most of the world would be starving. There's nothing wrong with GMO foods, its like being afraid your cell phone is giving you brain cancer. Something is going to kill you. These people should worry more about getting hit by a bus.

Actually a good friend of mine knew someone got brain cancer from her Cell phone. She was a sales rep for the last 10 years and spent 5 to 6 hours on her cell phone. The first thing the neuro surgeon said to her when she want to see the guy for the first time was, “Your a sales rep right?”
Monsanto are an evil organisation. The dont care about who the kill or what poisons the pump out.

@3. But don't you think that people have a right to know? I'm personally against many of these demands by 'the public' who think they have a 'right to know'. Oh really? This is how MI6 infiltrates the Chinese political infrastructure. This where the sound and vision pickups are located in the Russian embassy. I don't think so.

But this is about what people are going to put into their bodies. There 'may' be nothing wrong with GM food. It may be that the evidence of cancer and birth defects reflects more on the chemicals sprayed on growing crops. But doesn't anything sprayed on to a growing crop leave some sort of trace? What quantity of such chemicals causes adverse reactions? If I become ill, should I be able to tell my doctor what GM foods I have consumed? What if my illness is immediately life-threatening? I do understand that everyone is going to die. Isn't it important that people should know when and under what conditions? You may not care whether you die tomorrow. That's your prerogative. But we speak much on here about the Falkland Islanders' right to self determination. Isn't it right that we should all have the right to determine what we eat? We are constantly told that activities such as smoking will kill us. As you say, we should pay just as much attention to avoid being hit by a bus. But suppose a particular GM crop, sprayed with a particular chemical, and then consumed within a particular time interval from ingestion of a particular medication will cause the relevant individual to drop dead the next day?

The reality for these anti Monsanto folks is the following...The only way to stop Monsanto from becoming a global monopoly is that governments around the world lift sanctions on GMOs and allow companies and competition to flourish.

    Especially the Europeans.

    Well said!

I'm not against GMOs, but the public has a right to know what they're eating. If a mother wants to feed her child non-GMO products, that should be her right.y

We have have a small family farm here that we use “Round Up” herbicide, along with some milder fungicides and pesticides, but we also grow several family crops nearly organic. We switched completely over to organic compost when we realized how better the flavor was. I'm not against using chemicals when it makes sense.

The heavy handed tactics of Monsanto have been unreasonable and because they're so big, no one can stop them.

If you want to assure yourself your eating GMO free food grow your own or buy solely organic ( if you believe it).
I think organic food is a rip off. I don't think its any safer than any other food. With one small caveat I don't eat anything from China. I think their foodstuffs are pure poison. They lie, they have no idea whats in there nor would tell you if it was something toxic.
I stay far away from Chinese imported food.
    Far away.

6 When talking about good and evil don't forget the profit part. That's before we get onto the environmental concerns.

I completely agree about your statement: “... I don't eat anything from China...” Currently in the United States as well as many countries, use imported food ingredients from China that are incorporated into American processed products in the USA, yet are not required by the USDA or FDA to list their origin. Dehydrated apple chips, apple juice concentrate, honey, milk powder ... hundreds of ingredients including fish and shellfish. Thousands of pets have been poisoned by American manufactured dog food that was made with Chinese ingredients.

I think we all agree that we'd prefer being sharp in our August years vs. being extremely dull witted as you are in yours...
