The United States Department of Justice brought charges on racketeering, wire fraud, and money laundering on 14 FIFA and sports marketing officials. Dubbed the “World Cup of corruption” by Richard Weber, chief of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation unit, the charges are the result of an investigation from the U.S. District Attorney’s office in Eastern New York. Good news, especially that José Marin will be prosecuted for corruption.....as so should his predecessor , Ricardo Teixeira, president of the Brazilian Football Conferderation befor Marin. I ran into Ricardo Teixeira a couple of times in airports (in São Paulo and in Miami), and just to see this corrupt, stuck-up little prick, strutting around with his security detail trailing right behind him, made me feel like kicking him in the nuts.....

Long overdue, but a welcome move anyway. The amounts of money that have been going under the table are simply astounding and one more sign of corruption at financial institutions without which those huge sums could not be used to pay bribes without being noticed.
