Argentina states 'lack of confidence' in mediator Pollack named by Judge Griesa

Tuesday, June 2nd 2015 - 05:32 UTC
Full article 40 comments

The Argentine government has turned down a plea from mediator Daniel Pollack to return to the negotiating table with holdout investors, with the Economy Ministry considering that talks with the speculative funds, so-called 'vulture funds', would be inappropriate given the behavior of the litigants. Griesa will add in the “me too” debt over this...

Meanwhile, Argentina's economy is in a dangerous place. It's racking up debt at a rate unseen since its last default in 2001-02. Revenues increased in Q1 2015 compared to the same time in 2014, but expenditures and interest payments have increased by far more.

As economist Claudio Loser of Centennial Group pointed out in a recent note, these calculations don't include any payments to NML or other creditors either.

“These numbers mean that during the first quarter, the overall financial deficit of the public sector increased by 206 percent from the first quarter of 2014,” Loser wrote.

“If these numbers are projected for the year, Argentina would incur in an overall deficit of about 6 percent of GDP, the highest in the region after Venezuela, on the basis of a nominal increase GDP of about 30 percent. The ratio would be much higher if one believes the official numbers of inflation and of real growth.”

    He continued (emphasis ours):

“This is a terrible situation for a country that is in dire financial circumstances. Moreover, it would be the worst fiscal performance in the last twenty years on a cash basis, even worse than 2001-03, when Argentina declared unilateral default.”

In short, now is not the time for Argentina to be adding more to its tab.

    But here we are.

    4. I think in the end it will be around U$10B. I think they'll have to renegotiate all the outstanding debt and get an IMF loan to bridge them.
    Its really bad.

The entire future economic collapse of Argentina will be blamed upon an international conspiracy coordinated by vulture funds and the IMF. It's obvious to the Argentine government that the US Federal Courts are coordinating this conspiracy by orchestrating the non-payment of bond holders debt that Argentina sincerely has tried to fulfill.

It is always someone else's fault...

    6. Between the BCRA assets that are pledged, short term loans and over due import payments they have a negative float. With the huge decrease in exports that float is drying up. It should all collapse about the time the next Prez takes over.

Argentines with money now go on a regular basis to Brazil or Chile for medical care. BA still has some excellent private medical clinics, but there is a backlog of patients as Argentine national healthcare is in crisis. (Once SA's best, now an estimated 85% of the scanners are out of service and imported medicines are in short supply)

  • ARGIES PAY YOUR DEBT

Who are the Argies? They're 3rd world bloodsuckers with “airs”. That chithole was invaded by the worst of the worst from Italy, Germany running away (WWII), and Jews. For some reason they consider themselves Europeans but go outside Buenos Aires and see the rest of that country & their poor indigenous people, yet they keep procreating. The Argies have been unable to control the breakouts of AIDS, dengue & TB. The best thing the US gov't did was to ban all imports of that filthy Argie beef from diseased, obese animals and the world should follow suit. Avoid eating that “dulce de leche” made by the Argies, this is a spread invented by the Spaniard centuries ago made with cow's milk ~ very dangerous if it comes from the Argies. READ THE LABELS!!! If you ever get involved in a traffic accident & the other driver or “victim” is an Argie CALL THE POLICE!!! Do not fall for the Argie well known practice all over the world to fabricate accidents, play the victims & ask for cash on the spot. There millions illegal Argies in the US & Europe + they keep invading their surrounding countries esp. Chile. Brazil is a Marxist country, they're no better either.

It is an unfortunate fact that it is not only the administrations of foreign powers that lack confidence in the institutions of the US government. The American people are also loosing confidence - as detailed in this article:
    http://www.nationaljournal.com/white-house/why-we-can-t-trust-the-nsa-and-why-that-s-a-crisis-20150601

In the case of the US courts there have been a number of cases dismissed on no other basis other than 'national security' (aka 'state secrets'). I am old enough to remember when we used to condemn the late, but not great, Soviet Union for exactly the same behavior.

@13 That article made me smile. One time I was checking out of an hotel in Argentina when an Argentine friend came over to meet me. While I finished packing she went through the room harvesting everything not nailed down and put the items in her handbag. I told her to keep the toiletries as they are included in the room rate - as are the towelling slippers - but made her put the rest back. It wasn't as if she had paid for the room! It was just so casual that she assumed she could help herself.

That said, I also recall reading about some dumb people in the UK trying to take a flat screen TV out of a hotel room window - in full view of the CCTV!

Toiletries, slippers, postcards and stationery in the rooms are all factored into the room rate. If you want them, take them. Everything else is rented for the night. And think about thieving because in some places they take the cost of stolen items out of the maids pay.

When I was in active duty in the Armada de Chile, I was assigned as liaison officer to a visiting official delegation from the Armada de la República Argentina. As there were several other navies in attendance and because our commanding admiral was in a generous mood after himself being lavishly hosted in Buenos Aires the year prior, he had them booked at the Sheraton Miramar Hotel in Viña del Mar. Mind you, these four individual “officers and gentlemen”, specifically a Vicealmirante, a Capitán de Navío, a Capitán de Corbeta and a Teniente de Navío took somehow sheets, pillows, bed coverings, glassware, all the liquor in the minibars and ran up outrageous food and bar bills leaving the Armada de Chile fully liable for millions of Pesos. The only reason that I was not demoted to a subteniente and assigned as a file clerk in Arica was because I had previously advised by memorandum to my CO that room charges were not recommendable as from prior experience. We all knew and expected that there would be some “war booty” collected by our invitees, but the subsequent grand theft was stunning!

In the end, an extensive investigation was conducted by a special committee that debated the merits as well as disadvantages of sending the ARA an invoice, but eventually it was decided not to as it might cause a diplomatic incident. Weeks later, myself and the other investigating officers were all unexpectedly promoted and advised to forget what happened.

The Diva complex of the English is self-destructive and I have always said so.

The English think it's 1879 or something, and that they are some sort of world superpower that people will weep and beg for them to stay. The other big three in the EU are already at the point of “who gives a f'---, don't let the door hit you” (that's why Merkel, Hollande, Renzi, and the others have all been so “polite” to Cumoron, they simply don't care a ferk). The USA, the entire British private sector is saying how bad of an idea it would be, the English don't care. Now as I predicted the Scots and probably the Welsh will say “hell no” to the English unilaterally dragging both of them out of Europe and into some meaningless and irrelevant north Atlantic minor archipelago alliance.

I hope Cameron just keeps going with his outdated and obfuscated English arrogance. He is the big lemming leading the rest straight into the North Sea... hahahaha.
