Eye opening. I imagine that having Argentina partner, that limits your trade partner opportunities.

Cancela needs to read his diplomatic mail... and maybe the news reports coming out of his executive branch of government. Either he was mis-quoted, or foolish, but something wasn't right.

Uruguay, along with Brasil and Paraguay can eventually force this issue, either within Mercosur or outside. And keep in mind that the EU doesn't really care for the Argentine government at the moment... too many debt and failure to honor previous commitments. The EU has PLENTY of it's own problems, protectionist and otherwise, but it's too big a market to ignore.

Like it or not, more open trade will come, sooner or later. There will be winners and losers (both in the context of industries as well as countries), but international commerce will continue to grow.

    Best wishes to all!

In about two days you should be reading that Cancela was in fact not sacked at all.

Interesting post-script on the article, but whether or not the guy was “sacked” or will just be finishing out his term doesn't really make a difference. The point of interest is what Cancela said... and if nothing else, it's really bad judgement on his part.

Maybe he'll be looking for his next job in Argentina. :)

    Best wishes...

    @ 3 Breakdowns R Us

I see the short stay in the asylum hasn't improved your reading comprehension skills one iota.

The mealy mouthed Rent Boy for Argieland (to replace Almagro) clearly thought he was bigger than Vasquez, or are you claiming he never said it?

You really should have spent more time resting. Coming back too early to continue lying and berating people will only end up with another total breakdown.

    I can't wait.
