Catholic Church points out that 25% of Argentines are below the poverty line
The Argentine Catholic Church has stood out strongly on the controversy that has followed President Cristina Fernandez statement before the FAO assembly in Rome arguing that poverty in Argentina is below 5%, which was later made superlative by her spokesperson and cabinet chief Anibal Fernandez arguing that poverty in Argentina was less than in Germany or Denmark. What are the basics in Argentina?
Paul, Oxfam are probably talking about the Scotch thats where most of the impoverished live. Cheap houses, poor weather, lots of Marxists, drugs and whiskey, smackheads and drunks everywhere. I would believe much more than 25% poverty there,

The difference is that, in our case, 'poverty' doesn't mean human faeces flowing down the street. It doesn't mean stealing electricity. It doesn't mean a 'home' constructed from corrugated iron and cardboard. In the UK, 'poverty' means not being able to afford a second car or a separate Playstation for each of the kids. Only one night a week down the pub. Possibly not a second 'en-suite'.

Argentina is not a mostly Italian country. Its just the way it is. Over 200 first surnames in Argentina only 5 of them are of Italian origin the rest all Spanish.
Over 56% of Argentines have native american ancestry, and almost 80-85% Argentines have one or more Spanish ancestors.
