British High Commissioner to Guyana, James Gregory Quinn has dismissed Venezuela’s most recent claim on Guyana’s oil rich Essequibo Coast, stating that it lacks solid grounds. Venezuela’s President Nicholas Maduro on May 27 signed a decree that now claims an entire portion of Guyana’s territory into the Atlantic Ocean and includes the Stabroek Block where a significant portion of oil was recently discovered by US oil giant, ExxonMobil. None of that will stop Venezuela's government, which is looking for any sort of scapegoat or attention-grabbing headline that isn't concentrating on the economic implosion that Chavismo has wrought on Venezuela.

We are all Chavez..... one of the dumbest slogans possible when it comes to Venezuela.

Why do these South Americans always want to take other people's property?
Are they not content with what they have?
Even if the Guyanians stole it from them(l did say “even if”)the Venezuelans stole it from the Amerindians.
lts a case of “whats mine is mine & whats yours is ours”.
Now where have l heard that before?
    Ah yes, don't tell me……
Argentina's ridiculous “claims” to the Falklands & other British territory in the South Atlantic.

99% of the venezuelans are amerindians.

Do they not teach you South American history in Argie schools? Dear, dear Guyana used to be a British colony until we gave them indepedence. Just like the FALKLANDS, or do you not understand plain English, in fact English is the official language in Guyana. do you understand?

I think you'll find that the UNITED KINGDOM (not “england”) is involved because Guyana is a member of the Commonwealth (of Nations) and formerly a colony administrated by the United Kingdom. As such, there is a a degree of support in diplomatic matters where an opponent outside the Commonwealth is clearly in the wrong. More generally though, the United Kingdom is involved in the wider world - as an example, the United Kingdom is the 2nd largest national aid donor (after the US) and as a percentage of GDP is only surpassed by Norway, Sweden, Luxembourg, and Denmark.

Yes, in the past history of the England and later the United Kingdom we did steal land and resources. This is much like Argentina did (and a significant fraction of the world's current sovereign states did), and attempted to do, post-independence. The difference is that we gave up on the idea of territorial expansion by force before WW2. As far as I can tell Argentina still hasn't dropped this, so spare us your bullshit hypocrisy.

As for your claim that “99% of the venezuelans are amerindians” this doesn't seem to bourn out by the facts:

”According to an autosomal DNA genetic study conducted in 2008 by the University of Brasilia (UNB) the composition of Venezuela's population is: 60.60% of European contribution, 23% of Amerindian contribution and 16,30% of African contribution.” - Godinho, Neide Maria de Oliveira (2008). “O impacto das migrações na constituição genética de populações latino-americanas”. @3. “what the fuck is england doing in south america?” England isn't in south america. We have pride. But, in the past, it provided one of the very few intelligent influences. Please note that the Falkland Islands are not in south america. They are in the South Atlantic.
Strange that, in 2011, 43.6% of the venezuelan population said they were white. Do they lie as much as argies? Or are you talking more B/S?

#10 Apologies for that, mistake on my part.

#9 Can we make it any clearer? Guyana is a member of the Commonwealth. Surely it is within a nation's right to diplomatically or otherwise stand up for a smaller nation being bullied by one of its neighbours, particularly when there is a historical and cultural connection?!

I see you also can't bring yourself to admit you're wrong about the ethnic composition of Venezuela.

@11. The real problem is that Pablo is a lice-infested asshole with piles. Makes him tetchy. He also has a hatred of Britain because we tried to cure his sexually transmitted infection, but failed because he insisted on going back to the 'villas' on a daily basis. They being the only places where he could find transexuals that didn't laugh at his, fully erect, 2 inches. Read his comments carefully. You can see the pointers to frustration and sexual inadequacy. Notice his emphasis on physical attributes and nationality. Perhaps, at some stage, and English woman laughed herself sick when he took his trousers off. Perhaps some English guy told him he wasn't sticking his dick in 'there'. Not even for the US$500 he offered. He definitely has mental/personality problems.

Paul, name calling will NOT WIN the arguement. It just makes you look juvenile.
Incidently if you GOOGLE Guyana you may become educated. Britain will stand by Guyana as they are part of THE COMMONWEALTH, so sorry that bothers you so much. i am now going to change my habit of a lifetime and say you are an

I suppose the natives of the Falklands are really looking forward to the visit of paulcedron. There are several who clearly would like to ring his silly neck.

But, IF he does arrive of course he is such a coward that he will arrive under a different name. The only way to identify him is that he will be accompanied by a strong smell of human effluent.
