All of these imaginary numbers while Unions are demanding and receiving 30-36% raises.
Who do they think they are kidding?

    Kaboom

I can't wait until middle class housewives are street fighting over the last bag of bean in Buenos Aires.
    I will laugh and laugh.

Its not their fault, they just want to live. Those of us that live in civilized countries don't understand how the Kthugs intimidate and terrify people to get their way.

You may remember me telling the Kidiots not to rely on Brazil to bail them out.
Guess what, I was right again.
Brazil is a few steps behind Argentina, economy is dropping like a rock.

A little bleach seems to take the stink away:

Is there anybody in the world who believes INDEC figures? Apart from Kirchner who tells them what to say? Less than 5% in poverty she says. 25% in poverty says everyone else. Let's consider the villas miserias. Do they all have 4x4s or SUVs parked outside? How lovely to get in your car because it's better constructed than your home. Plenty of electricity though. Since you just tap into the company's power cables. Unlimited power and no bills. Anybody seen flush toilets in the villas? A statistic. City of Buenos Aires population - 2,890,151. Population of local villas - 120,000. 4.15%. Anybody think Kirchner just went for saying everybody in a villa is poor, and everyone else isn't? Will the next 'government' have the guts to say that everything Kirchner did and said was a lie.

Actually at home to watch the Copa America with a glass of 2013 Colchagua Malbec.

Imagine someone had a curiosity about someone anonymously surfing at www.armada.mil.uy, EMINT would immediately identify the IP and some other basic information as well implant cookies and spyware. (Especially if the person knew a specific page they visited.) There are a number of sources that would provide tracking information. Hypothetically, EMIT could see through a secured server and learn a lot. But really I don't know very much about the subject myself.

A very simple and basic example is at: https://panopticlick.eff.org/
Click on the red button and you'll get an idea.

Good luck to your national team!

Oh no, let's hope not! We already have enough Gypsies and sock puppets here at Mercopress.

The moral of the story is at @28, which reminds me of the benefit of flypaper. Imagine a lonely obscure link that rarely gets visited, receives several hits in a short period of time. Strange you would think...

Reminds me also to never open a page you don't trust, as you could end up with a stomach full of cookies and sweets, yet not realizing you consumed them. Take the hypothetical case of visiting an obscure page of the Uruguayan Navy. Not only could they go right through all the walls and “see your soul”, but then trace your sins through a third party service re that collects data on where that unique IP has been frequently visiting.

How you might ask? Truthfully it's far beyond my pay grade, but imagine sock puppets named Hansel and Gretel that leave a trail of cookie crumbs all over trail. Anyway, it's only a fairy tail.

The moral of this story is that those with pure hearts have nothing to worry about.
If my had something to hide however, I just might go for @45.
    Hypothetically thinking at least...

@50 I brought this subject up at a dinner about a week ago in the context of dormant laws in the British legal system. I believe it was once a capital offence to impersonate an Egyptian. We came to the conclusion that being Egyptian must have had some special status that people tried to abuse. Something similar would have been the Jewish people allowed into England under the protection of The Crown to conduct banking when it was still illegal for Christians to do so. We are talking centuries ago.

With regards to sock-puppets, as I said before, it doesn't really matter. I have no doubt at all that people use more than one identity on here to stir shit. Like anyone assuming an identity, they cannot sustain it. Their true character traits and use of idioms always shows them up. Though why they are so keen to garner personal information as opposed to debating is plain weird. Maybe they are incapable of debate.

From what I read in a historical book about Judaism, Egyptian was a name for Gypsy. It was a way of condemning the entire group from engaging in any “Gypsy” negative stereotypical behavior. There were special permits for the rare specimens of Chinese, Arabs and Indians that arrived to seaports that were bizarre.

Chile has a few strange laws as well. We were the last country in the Western Hemisphere (ten years ago) to legalize divorce.

    From La Tercera:

Article 496 of the Chile Penal Code punishes all those who profit from making “premonitions” or interpreting dreams.

Article 404 indicates that you must face “imprisonment in its minimum degree” if you challenge your opponent to a duel.

Under the Chilean Constitution the presidente/a is not allowed to marry or become a godfather/godmother without the consent of Congress.

Of course, we have adopted her as our “Momi”...

Here's an interesting passage I recently came across :

“Studies of perpetrator motivation explain that those who incite acts of hate are seeking to rid themselves and the world around them of its unsettling, messy, ambiguities and complexity. The perpetrator mentality is one of 'splitting' - that is all-or-none black and white thinking. Perpetrators often see themselves as enlightened, as holders of a greater truth, superior to their foes, above reproach and accountability, struggling to break free of a world of dichotomies”

    Remind you of anyone?

It's from the book “Hitler's Furies”, a study of Nazi women, by Wendy Lower.

@56 I believe it's still legal to walk like one, or the Bangles might have got into trouble.

Yes, unfortunately there are miscreants that fit the profile perfectly.

Speaking of miscreants, and just making a few minor changes to a paragraph over at the current OAS article, it puts the current Peronist mentality in a historical perspective and and showing what bullies they are.

“Reich Minister Timerman refers to the Falkland Islanders as a 'non people' since they were 'implanted' and thus with no rights to Lebensraum (”living space”) or self determination, while Reich President Fernandez refers to them as 'non-Latin squatters' and calls for a Final Solution to relocate elsewhere”...

    @56,57. Trial by Single combat.
This old method of settling legal disputes was I think still on the Statute book in Scotland till 1985 when a litigant insisted on his right to settle his case by this method and issued a chalenge to fight the Queens Champion in Scotland, at that time Lord Lyon King of Arms.
As this gentleman was well over 80 years old, perhaps not a very fair contest.
I write from memory as there is only a passing refernce on Wikipedia.
The law was also invoked in England in 2002 by amechanic who offered to fight to the death with kukris the chief Clerk of the DVLA over a vehicle licencing fine of 25 pounds. On appeal he lost his case as the relevant statute had been repealed in 1818.
Perhaps the most entertaining case , although fictitious, was The board of Inland Revenue v Hadddock where Mr Haddock wrote a cheque to the tax authorities on the side of a live cow, “ duly stamped on the horn dexter”.
A.P Herbert was writer for “Punch”and conducted a lifelong vendetta against the tax authorities. The twists and turns of the case makes hilarious reading

Lots of legal nonsense in the UK. I remember traveling with my wife from Scotland to London and experienced a Pakistani shopkeeper refusing our Scottish banknotes. My wife became enraged and began a quoting an English non-existent law that gave her the right to have the shopkeeper jailed for a day for refusing the Queen's legal tender.... The shopkeeper quickly changed his position.

Supposedly, there's still a law on the books in Peru that fines anyone that addresses a llama with profanity...

There is a difference between English and Scottish banknotes....
    The English one says
Bank of England promises to pay the bearer on demand...Twenty Pounds...
    The Scottish equivalent says..
Bank of Scotland or Royal Bank of Scotland or Clydesdale....promises to pay the bearer on demand Twenty Pounds Sterling...
    Must mean something...

I used to think Scottish banknotes could not be refused but I think they can. Also, there is a maximum amount you can pay in small change before they can be refused in favour of notes- though I can't be bothered to look it up.

I knew about the divorce laws of Chile but annulments were available if you had the money, right?

The conversation I had at dinner the other week also moved on to the strange covenants that can be attached to property here in England. Some people have found themselves liable for repairing the parish church even if they have never set foot in the church and are, in fact, practising satanists due to an ancient covenant.

I spent some time in training in Dartmouth and Bedford England where I learned you couldn't force a shopkeeper to legally accept more than 20 pence in individual coins, but you could make him accept Scottish or Irish (North) banknotes. (They hate it because they have to keep it separate and deposit it apart from the English money. Apparently there are a few other regulations, but you can make them accept notes issued by the Bank of Scotland.

As far as marriage, the only solution in Chile prior to 2005 was murder or an annulment. Costly due to lawyers and time. The really well connected then would also arrange a Catholic annulment through the Vatican that was even more costly.

What has really changed in the past 30 plus years has been women's rights. Today women in Chile have more legal rights today than men.

The Voice, we prefer the Cherub. I had my boat upriver at Noss Marina but we moved it back to the Hamble a couple of years ago because it was rather far away from our pile. Dartmouth is a very nice place though. We still visit regularly because our daughter lives nearby.

#75 There was not so many pipers in the Scots Guards when they visited the Falklands in 82. Some strange names and ordinary ones too. Cross reference that with Dunoon and environs and bingo, we have Big Mac! Like me to give you a ring?
Or, are you Para Handy in disguise? A scruffy puffer where you cook brekky on a shovel is about your mark. House prices are very cheap in Dunoon. You could move down here, we have trailer parks for folk like you :-]))) The westhers much better

Captain, we love Dittisham, the pub is a hoot, as you probably know you can Anchor in the pool up there and dinghy over to the pontoon. Very nice spot. Agatha's house nearby is interesting to visit. All the yacht clubs in the area are great too, excellent views, cheap beer.

You mean like the 30,000 Argentine “desaparecidos” that as ordered by President Videla were thrown from helicopters to their deaths into the Plate river? Certainly not, as we have our stadium filled with people all over the world enjoying Copa America.

No, I mean like: what's your point about gathering such an heterodox group like Conqueror, Voice, The voice, CD2, Troy Tempest and myself in a black list?

It is even more surprising when I recall that we've had an interesting and respectful exchange of views in the past.

You just don't sound like you today.

As a side note, you are pretty much aware that the 30,000 missing during the “process” is hardly tenable anymore. That number has been inflated -as most things in Argentina currently do- due to propaganda purposes. As a second side note, I'm not denying the atrocities carried out by the Junta, including but not limited to dropping political prisoners from helicopters.

    Have a good night sir.

But your list includes post #6 which belongs to 'Conqueror'. Besides, I never even mentioned that 'Jose' guy.

I just stated that I believed that CD2 is who he says he is because he did mention some little known things from Cordoba which would be rather rare to come by in Wikipedia or other internet sources.

Scrolling back then *and only then* I find some link that you posted about this 'Jose Oribe' being CD2 and a link to some site which other posters warned against.

Brasileiro and Trunce are also in the infamous list.

It started with a debate he coudnt sustain, he lost and for worst there was also some pussy he wanted to impress and the only way for a honorable retreat was consistently lying that I’m this guy Jose Oribe, then he just went entirely paranoid and suffered a melt down.

The only option left for him is keep on lying and lying in hope that someone believes him
