Brazilian stock market has been falling like a rock. Petrobras, Brazil’s largest company, with discovering upward of 100 billion barrels of offshore oil, is debt-plagued and struggling — it was recently downgraded to junk status by Moody’s Investors Service. Petrobras has had to sharply cut back investment and sell off assets. (Note: Dilma served as chair of the Petrobras board for several years.)
