Mercosur summit will establish 'action plan' to speed discussions with Europe

The Mercosur Council will establish an “action plan” at the next Mercosur presidential summit scheduled for 16/17 July in Brasilia, when the group's chair for the next six months will be handed to Paraguay by Brazil. Other issues on the agenda besides making Mercosur more flexible include addressing the 'special regimes' and the 'free trade zones' in the area, revealed Uruguay's foreign minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa. It's no wonder Mercosur doesn't get anything done, it turns everything into a show and production. Why invite very other South American state along? Surely it detracts from Mercosur actually focussing on its own members and how they can advance their own integration.

It's the way things are done in SA to prove to all the other numb-nuts that something is being “done”.

What a pity that nothing ever gets done.

Children in a grown up body is all you get as “Statesmen” and being a “macho” country, any female with a brain gets to be an old maid. Women are just not seen as being the same as men and in many cases are not: they are better.

No, the women I have promoted during my career and in my businesses got there the same as anybody else: on merit or not at all.
