South Georgia received record number of visitors during 2014/15 cruise season

The island of South Georgia attracted the highest ever number of cruise ship passengers in the 2014/15 season, in contrast to falling numbers of tourists visiting the Antarctic, according to the May edition of the South Georgia Newsletter. Read full article

    If there was one place in the world I could return to it would be South Georgia, a truly magic place. Thank goodness it remains safely in British hands.

    Talking to the cruise director of one ship a couple of years ago - they had given a free trip to South G to the Argentine manager of their supply company in Ushuaia - his comment on the ship on the way home was “Its good South Georgia is British - had it become Argentine it would have been polluted and ruined years ago”
