China has become the largest importer of frozen Argentine beef, according to the latest data released by the Industry and Trade of Meat and Meat Produce Association (CICCRA). However these figures are far from neighboring Uruguay which in four months shipped to China almost 50.000 tons, that has become the country's leading market. Read full article

Jul 10th, 2015 - 07:47 am - Link - Report abuse 0I'm surprised at Germany and Israel. I would have thought they would know better. All those growth hormones and other veterinary drugs. As for the rest, who cares? China hoping it will reduce their population. Birth defects would be good. Russia doesn't care what its peasants eat.
Jul 10th, 2015 - 10:03 am - Link - Report abuse 0And argies eat 60 kilos a year? No wonder they get fat. Not to worry. Red meat causes heart attacks!
We all know that the Chinese will eat any old shit.

Go back to your soy burgers, Haters!
Jul 10th, 2015 - 01:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@4. Isn't it the case that, 150 years ago, Vernet's little enterprise was selling fresh meat? Leg of argie. Shoulder of argie. Argie haunch. Oft disguised as seal meat. Perhaps argieland is looking in the wrong place for its colonists. Perhaps bits of argies were exported on passing vessels. Any records that Vernet meat tasted suspiciously like pork? Could you tell after whatever it was was salted?
Jul 10th, 2015 - 01:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Argentine frozen beef tastes like what is served in USA school lunch hamburgers. I think we used to buy PATY burgers.
Jul 10th, 2015 - 02:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Hamburgers in Argentina are gross. They don't know how to make good one.
@6 Yes the hamburgers here suck, but the meat is still good.
Jul 10th, 2015 - 03:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Although I don't eat much ground beef.
I prefer Vacio, Lomo o Costilla's. which is increasingly out of the average Argentines budget.
Yeah I could never understand why I couldn't get a good burger. In the USA you take good cuts of beef and grind it to make the burger. The weird frozen stuff in Arg has a tang and off putting texture I could never get past.
Jul 10th, 2015 - 04:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I was super disappointed with the beef I got last time I was there. I went to all of my old favorites but it just wasn't the same as it used to be. You can get better grass fed in the USA whether you want to believe that or not is up to you.
:)
