I wonder how much that cost TMBOA in bribes?

Still, the money came from the electorate anyway so you could say they are getting their own back!

Good news-the last thing the Falkland Islands Government need is a friendly administration that tries hearts and minds in trying to con the Islands, however unpleasant it is listening to a scratched record.

It will reinforce the Islander's progress(essential to maintain autonomy), and make them state their case internationally, which will erode and nibble away at Argentina's lies).

But for the Argentines, a bad thing as they will never benefit from the money and jobs they might get from the Falklands if they were good neighbours.

However, if a benevolent Argentine government dropped their claim, that would be good as the Argentines could enjoy jobs and actually receive financial benefit from the oil revenue rather than getting jack squit.

The best possible outcome financially for Ushuaia and Santa Cruz would be to return the territory to the Falklands (right of first settlement), so that the region could be successful and provide full employment for the Argentines who will become Falkland Islanders.

This is why I left Argentina. When I saw that Venezuela endured 16 years of Chavez and had 50% inflation, the highest murder rate in the western hemisphere, and Maduro took power after Chavez' death; it's gravely disappointing.

For those of you that vote for Kirchner's party, just know that you are part of the problem. Any grievances you suffer thereafter are entirely your fault.

    9. You need a civil war. I can't see that happening though. There's still too much apathy. Its not bad enough yet for the masses to start fighting back. Maybe next year when inflation is above 50% and there's not enough gas or oil to keep BA warm.
Its got to be pretty dramatic to wake people up.
The slow steady decline, year after year, decade after decade, generation after generation seeps out hope and people become complacent. They get tired and apathetic not angry.

The best you can hope for is civil war.
    Good luck.

Cristina Fernandez' candidates for October's general elections
    North Korea,
In today’s papers, shows him casting his vote,
It’s compulsory to vote, the leader selects his own candidates for each region
And you can only vote for him,

Sounds similar to Cristina Fernandez' candidates don’t you think,
But hey what do we know abt elections or referendums,
Compared to South Americans, nothing it seems.
    Change the subject=
Today Mr Obama again stressed the UK should remain at the centre of Europe
As it’s in all out interests, he says.

    NASA
Has found what is described as earths twin, and it may hold life,

What are the chances of duplicate argentines, still claiming the Malvinas?

    In the meantime,

In Argentina you can only vote for the candidates, as in North Korea. Yes.

    You know why this is?
Because voting for non-candidates would be a mess.

I understand your supreme practice of democracy allows you to vote for non-candidates, which probably is the reason you end up with the politicians you have.
I don't know if it's these politicians, or Obama's own conviction, but the statement that UK would be at the centre of Europe, is plain wrong.

    Tarquin
If Briton's #26 made sense to you, then you will never understand my posts.... Just move on, not for your eyes.
In a self-centered world, such as your own, you could argue you are the center of the world, the world being round and all, or even the centre of universe, it being infinite and all. But remaining the centre of Europe will be a difficult task to acheive, as it would require the UK to be in the centre to start with...

Many here have been conveying a vision of an Argentine government badly managing the country and as a result marching towards a monumental defeat in the October presidential election.

Decent arguments? It is quite clear that perosnism is fascism but for you this is not a “decent” argument. Yesterday CFK spoke again to the whole country in her 30th “Cadena Nacional” of the year.....

These might be decent arguments: 30% of inflation, 25% of monetary base increased yearly during the last four years, 10% of devaluation of the local currency during year 2015 (when Nestor K started ruling the country the rate was U$D 1 = AR$ 3.5 but now it is either U$D 1 = AR$ 9.10 or U$D 1 = AR$ 15 depending the dollar you refer to), the current monetary base (in U$D at the official rate) is U$D 54.000 millions but the “real” reserves are U$D 20.000 millions (to the Central Bank is in bankrupcy), the GDP will -1.5% during 2015, poverty is skyrocketing (more than 30%), the internacional debt is increasing again (now is almost 50% of the GDP), Argentina is in default, babies died due to famine in a country that can feed a population three times the current ones.

Do you know why people still vote CFK (or Scioli)? Basically for two reasons: they are scared of suffering more privations and they are slavers of the subsidies of the governments. But in the richest district of the country, the City of Buenos Aires, CFK and peronism got less than 20% of the votes....

All these would be “decent arguments” for someone with some objetive attitude but you are not a reasoning person at all.

Actually It is very difficult to say the “real” BCRA reserves becuase the are all the time trying to hide the “real” situation of it. Of the “nominal” U$D 32.000 millions declares there are U$D 8.000 millions that are privete money. Around U$D 5.000 millions are money lend from the Basilea Bank and the chinese government “swap” but this is money that cannot be used.

The BCRA authorities officially said that they won't inform the “real” reserves to avoid private “speculators”...they must believe that the reserves belong to them.

We can say that the “real” reserves are in a range of U$D 20.000 millions to U$D 18.000 millions (to back U$D 54.000 millions of the monetary base).

It is estimated BCRA owes between U$9-12 B in unpaid imports which you'd have to take out of that “real” number. They've been working on a float for a long time and with the huge decrease in Export sales the float is disappearing.
I am pretty sure Griesa will not allow any further BODEN bonds to be sold so they'll have to use about U$4B to pay them off in NOV.

You got it damn right, German!
Kirchnerism favours a strong presence of the state in the economy, as opposed to past administrations that preached a free-market approach that gave the power to a few large corporations.
In just a few years, Argentines have seen it all: Menem's savage corporate management that emptied the state and left the country belly up, and the reconstruction of the country's productive sector done by the Kirchners.
”Makri“ is following the same path Menem did, who declared months after becoming president: ”If I had said what I was going to do, nobody would have voted for me.”
Much remains to be done, but electors are now able to sort the chaff from the wheat.

You asked me about “strong arguments”. I had posted some of them but you replied with poetry. I am now asking you “strong arguments”.

These are my strong and decent arguments: 30% of inflation, 25% of monetary base increased yearly during the last four years, 10% of devaluation of the local currency during year 2015 (when Nestor K started ruling the country the rate was U$D 1 = AR$ 3.5 but now it is either U$D 1 = AR$ 9.10 or U$D 1 = AR$ 15 depending the dollar you refer to), the current monetary base (in U$D at the official rate) is U$D 54.000 millions but the “real” reserves are U$D 20.000 millions (to the Central Bank is in bankrupcy), the GDP will -1.5% during 2015, poverty is skyrocketing (more than 30%), the internacional debt is increasing again (now is almost 50% of the GDP), Argentina is in default, babies died due to famine in a country that can feed a population three times the current ones.

Would you like to discuss them?

  • Enrique Massot

Oh come on German! Are you living under a rock?
Of course some numbers are not optimum at this time. Inflation is not good. GDP's numbers will not be stellar. Reserves are down. So what? The world is struggling, and Argentine exports are suffering of course.
Today countries' solidity can be seen on how they sail through the crisis. Argentina is sailing rather well. In 2001 the world economy was doing well and Argentina hit rock bottom.
    Have you heard about Greece-Europe?
Hey, there is a discussion going on about whether Canada is already in recession or not. The country has been governed by supposedly good Conservative managers for the last nine years.
In oil-producing province of Alberta, thousands have lost their jobs. Food banks are desperately asking for increased donations following a steep increase in people who can't meet their basic needs.
“Babies died due to famine.” At least, the government has attempted to come to the help of the poorest. Have you heard of AUH? I've seen that sort of social tools in Europe, but had never expected to see it in my home country in my lifetime. However, when AUH was implemented, people of your ilk claimed that “teenagers were going to get pregnant just to get AUH.”
    Argentina is in default?
    Come on German!
Don't you know the vulture story?
I appreciate your effort to come up with some serious arguments to justify your dislike of the CFK government.
I am sure you can still do better than this. Perhaps take a look at “Makri's” new “libreto?”

You cannot run away from rational discussion by using the “bad examples” of the World as a justification of Argentina decadence.

Greece in in a terrible crisis (crisis that CFK and other peronist leaders cinically celebrate) but Germany, the UK, the Scandinavian countries are not in a crisis. Argentina is in a crisis but Chile, Peru or Uruguay are not in crisis.

Alberta is in crisis due to the oil price but Ontario is no in crisis....the World is not falling into pieces as CFK wants to make argentine people believe as a justification of argentine crisis.

You are so fanatic that you are not able to recognize mistakes made from CFK government. Hitler made the very same mistake. He was convinced until the very last moment that he could change the result of the war. Galtieri thought the very same thing.

Questions in numbers require answers in numbes and not poetry. The real thing, based on some date shared in my post is that the current situation of Argentina is quite depresing. Really Argentina is a country in really bad shape. So if Argentina is going on Venezuela's direction it is wise to chage it. Of course, it is hard to be understood, being a fascist and fanatic of peronism but living under the protection of the Queen.

“The real thing, based on some date shared in my post is that the current situation of Argentina is quite depresing.”
Again. As I said in my previous post, the economy is not in its best shape and it's partly due to the economic world conditions and other factors such as the action of the vultures.
However, Argentina is not in crisis, even if those who oppose the current government would like it to be.
Using the “you said, he said” is not useful, so I will just refer to a World Bank report from April.
“The country has grown steadily in the last decade, investing
heavily on health and education, to which it directed 8 per cent and 6 per cent of the GDP respectively.
”Between 2003 y 2009, the middle class doubled going from 9.3 million to 18.6 million, which equates 45 per cent of the population.
“The country has given priority to social spending through several programs such as the Universal Child Allowance, which reaches about 3.7 million children and youth up to 18 year-olds--9.3 per cent of the country's population.”
    However, the report also notes:
“In the last few months, the external sector of the economy faces significant challenges. During 2014, the fiscal accounts had a primary deficit of 0.9 per cent of the GDP and a total deficit of 2.5 per cent of GDP.
”The public sector income increased 42.5 per cent and its expenses increased 45 per cent in relation to the previous year.”

Again, I understand not everything is rosy--so leave your redundant insults out--however, the current government has made big efforts to reduce the plight of the poorer while attempting to consolidate a growing middle class. The electors have understood it and Macri has understood it too.
Oh, and it's not a matter of Alberta or Ontario--Canada is in recession, with the Canadian dollar at its lowest point since 2004.
And all of this is not poetry, my friend.

Cristina and Kiciloff make statements that are obvious they're laughing at argentina's situation....if you have a decent education. Her disgusting speech on May 25th 2014. “a veces me duele porque se nos critican porque damos cosas...a los pobres y los negros. ”

And then Kiciloff. “los fondos buitres nos van a decir negros”

    Negro means black in Spanish.
Only because you lot have villified every word related to Latins Niger, it doesn't mean you have any right to project your inherited racism on others.

Check your local employment office and see proper racism...

So what is Kiciloff trying to convey? He gave dark skin a negative connotation like they don't pay. and CFK, we give things to poor and dark people. That's a joke. she gave pesticides and hunger to the poor

Please link to the video showing icillof saying what you and Clarin says he did say.

You guys give dark skin a negative connotation, to the point that you forbid words related to Latin's black in order to deal with your prejudices.
You relate the color of the skin as something of value and think that if you don't speak about it, you're not rasist anymore...
In the meantime, immigrants in the UK are way overrepresented in the unemployment stats and at the further back you get in that cue, the darker is your skin.

    Shovel it.

Spreading lies and invented morals, that's all you are good for.

“Again. As I said in my previous post, the economy is not in its best shape and it's partly due to the economic world conditions and other factors such as the action of the vultures.”

You obviously have no idea about what is going on here in Argentina.

You refer to a World Bank report to back up your claims. I'll give you a couple of facts that I'm sure are not included in that report:
-half the kids finishing high school can't understand what they read.
-People with no health insurance have to wait at least 4 hours to get a doctor appointment in a public hospital. Usually that appointment is at least 20 days in the future. Not to mention some people that have scheduled surgery but when the time comes are just sent home because of lack of supplies.
    - A growing number of people sleeping in the streets.
    - A growing number of custom officials driving luxury cars.
    - Growing groups of kids smoking weed and drinking beer at 10 a.m. on working/school days.

Looks like a crisis to me.
Do you get to see any of that in Alberta?

I appreciate your direct observations pointing to serious deficiencies in several fields of health, education and social policies that need to be addressed.
I encourage you to scrutinize the candidates aspiring to become Argentina president in October, and to vote for the one presenting the best approach to solve those problems.

Argentina will grow at a rate fo -1,2% (minus means recesion) during year 2015, the inflation will be around 30%, it is in default, almost no real reserves in the Central Bank, almost no international commerce, unemployment is growing. For God's sake. How can you write that “Argentina is not in crisis”?

All the “official” history about social figures “are manufactured” in the official INDEC. Do you believe in them? So real inflation is aroubd 10%? A private university published its annual survey: poverty is around 30% !!!

The country grew during the years when soy bean had a extraordinary value. Now, that the price of soybean is more reasonable...Argentina is on recesion again.

I have never insulted you. I wrote that you (like the rest of the peronists) are fascists. This is an opinion and not an insult. I can prove that perosnist are fascist.

The Clintons were in BA in 2010 telling people the Kirchner were fine. Argentina and brazil are f“·(ing destroyed and Chile is in a disasterous recession. I'm done telling fa”·$ot US Liberals about how brutal and disgusting their party is. The party that whines about trump's mexico comments and praises this new legitimacy given to the scum of the earth killers in Havana. The castros that gutted Venezuela and Brazil.

@65 That's exactly the problem Enrique.
Scioli, the heir to be, is full of shit just like CFK. Macri is full of shit. Who would you vote if you lived here?
    Massa? Altamira?
Who amongst all these people do you think will solve the problems that I pointed out?

The only reason the yerba mate is so expensive, is the fact that it only grows where it does and you lot have yet again hijacked a cultural aspect, making your crap market press prices...
Same thing with the meat. Your darn FTA's have made our meat so darn expensive, a result of us (Uruguay and Argentina) having the best conditions for beef cattle. Hence the world pays a lot for the best meat and we have to adjust to the market.
The dollar is expensive today, but that's a non-issue, we just wait for the Chinese to handle that issue.
As for the petrol, well now that Iran is back in the market, you'll see a weird scenario.... Iran or Russia, yanqui?

Shot a random bypasser today? No?

    Slacker...

Stevie, We don't have FTA with Argentina. So try again.

Oil will go to $20-30 soon. That's great!

U$ “blue” is killing the Arg economy, if it wasn't you wouldn't have Police trying to tamp it down nor the kidiots whining about it constantly.

Hyperinflation is on the way to Argentina
just like it arrived in Venezuela this year
    That makes me happy.
