Disclaimer & comment rulesSlumping circulation....pity. Indicative of the current generations foolhardiness and the education system. My aunt had a subscription I NatGeo for years and she kept every single one of them. I loved to go and read them every month. One of the things I looked forward to with delight. Sad state of affairs.

Murdoch will of course completely ruin it.
National Geographic has been in bed with Fox for 18 years already and I haven't seen anyone complaining about the decline in their standards. This move is just recognition that the world has moved on from print media.
Sep 12th, 2015 - 12:57 am - Link - Report abuse 0The National Geographic Society's purpose isn't just to publish a glossy magazine - this is just the journal for the society. A medium to get the message out so to speak. The core of NGS won't change even though the format of its journal may.
What many may not be aware of is that the publication of hardcopy journals is reducing markedly every year as journals migrate to online sources. Hopefully National Geographic continues to be published, and perhaps it will be more successful with the advertising might of Fox behind it. However it will lose its journal title if it descends into journalism. Considering how much journalism outlets Fox has access to, I don't see it needing this small audience.
