An Argentine magistrate ordered the Executive to present official reports on the extent of poverty and indigence in the country, figures which allegedly the much questioned stats office, Indec ceased to release almost two years ago. However cabinet chief Anibal Fernandez ironically downplayed the order arguing the judge was 'meddling' in something she does not know. Read full article

“That index does not exist anymore because it was discontinued; it is no longer linear, not only income is measured; so (the judge) is meddling in what she must not be meddling in, she talks about what she does not know,” Fernández affirmed.

So how did your dear President know it was below 5 % if the index doesn't exist any more........

“I would love to ask her to tell me what she thinks the poverty rate is to know what she is seeking to find,”...

I assume she thinks it is not 5%, so she is seeking to find the truth. Shit, sorry, I forgot, we are talking about Argentinian politicians and government figures. The bastions of truth, freedom and transparency.

How dare these politicians ask a judge to find out what the truth is.

“The truth is what we say it is!”

“Where's my prostitute I want a massage, I don't feel well” said the viperous Bogbrush aka TMBOA 'Fire Fighter'.

Clearly the fire is getting out of control.

This sounds like a repeat performance of Dilma's presidential campaign in 2014 : either do not release the stats that prove the government's incomptence and exposes its lies, or manipulate them (the stats) before you do (release them).

Amazing how cheerleaders of Judge Thomas Griesa and vulture financier Paul Singer's efforts to extort as much money as possible from Argentina have now become white knights for the poor.
“Clearly the fire is getting out of control,” enthuses ChrisR at #2.
No fire, Chris. Just futile attempts of an opposition at short of arguments and unable to disclose an electoral platform, grabbing whatever issue they can to try and make some hay.

    @4 Reekie
You still haven't answered why you still live in Canada, that nasty, socially unjust country, while there are tropical socialist paradises quite a bit further south, which you defend tooth and nail...

Are you going to keep on ignoring your stupid statements or are you gonna man-up and try to defend them ??

@4. Is that the best bit of spin you can manage, Reekie? Where did you get “white knights for the poor”? I reckon what we'd all like to see is argieland telling the truth for a change. About the British Falkland Islands to which argieland has no valid claim. About the crime and corruption in the “government”. About Nisman. About the scam over the bonds. About all the legal ducking and diving to avoid debt payment. About the atrocious treatment of the real “owners”, the indigenous people. Strange attitude for a bunch of squatters.

I'd like to see what information they present, if they ever do go public at all on this subject.
My guess is that there is absolutely no information at all. I bet the Ks are not particularly inclined to careful book-keeping.
However, it isn't hard to tell how much poverty is there in the country. At least it wouldn't be hard for somebody that lives here.
Given that condition, it will become obvious that if you see more kids in the streets asking for something to eat, more people finding refuge in ATM halls, etc ... then things are not going so well.
Unless of course, you “think” that the official ads portray a faithful resemblance when they show all those smiling faces hailing Cristina.

Wake up Argentina and smell the coffee, do try and be honest with stats and figures. Wouldn't it be nice if Argentina could get rid of all the dishonest politicians and hangers on and truly work for the good of the country and their citizens. Argentina could be very wealthy if the population got off their arses and worked for a living instead of just taking handouts.
