The past, the promise and the potential of the United States must not be smothered by bickering and even hatred at a time when the U.S. people and indeed the world need a helping hand, Pope Francis told the U.S. Congress on Thursday. Read full article

Sep 25th, 2015 - 12:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Good for Francisco. History in the making.
Why not help us out here Quique and support your statement. There are transcripts for those such as yourself who have not listened to him speak. Point it out where he told them what the world thinks of the USA?
Sep 25th, 2015 - 01:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I would expect no less for a real man of the cloth to do as he did.........tell this nation what he told the US Congress. But please, support your statement, if you can?
If you must make an interpretation, stick to reality and go with his plea to the US congress. Stop trying to change reality in every post of yours.
Been to Argentina lately to see the reality there?
@2 You are right, he did not make an all-encompassing statement of criticism about the US on behalf of the malcontents like Enrique. The Pope would not behave in such an ignorant manner.
Sep 25th, 2015 - 02:26 pm - Link - Report abuse 0He did verbally chastise the fundamental element of the Republican Party but they do not in any way represent the majority of Americans. He did point out how uncharitable some of their policies are without naming names. Just as he did when he complained in the Argentine media about people (CFK) trying to claim him as a friend. We all know he can't stand her.
Like I said, he merely did what a good man of the cloth should do. I can hardly be called religious or faithful, but he is impressive. The boycotting republicans do not seem to understand that the Pope is hardly come in supporting the 1%. I do believe that he was better received than John Paul II ever was. I will further say that he is a simple man with a simple message and trying to clean up a mess of the past. I say WHO-AAAAAHH.

Sep 25th, 2015 - 07:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Read again: he told them what MANY across the world think of them, not what you understood: “told them what the world thinks of the USA”?
And that is nothing less than the several points he made, such as immigrant policy, weapons sales, the continued use of death penalty by several states.
I would say I do agree with much of your post @ 4. Only, what Francisco is doing is not merely did what a good man of the cloth should do.
There were several men of the cloth before him who never said anything like he said, with tact and sensitivity but with extreme accuracy nonetheless.
@3 ElaineB.

A politician in a robe. He just can't help being an Argentine drowning in self importance. Distribution of wealth? Translation-- give the poor your hard earned money-- they deserve it.

A majority of the republicans now accuse the pope of actually being a muslim...
Sep 28th, 2015 - 09:07 am - Link - Report abuse 0But it took the Pope for you to come out and post under this pseudonym. Perhaps a better editorial is in order.
