The question remains: Why a newspaper of the stature of the Corriere would go to such lengths to try and mud CFK's image with such a cheap shot?
The intent to cause political damage appears more obvious in the face of the Argentine president's attendance to a FAO event and the contrast with the alleged expensive shopping trip.
    Why?

Pretty standard tabloid reporting, to show hypocrisy of Public Figures who use the media to gild their image, when the reality is in stark contrast.

Now it plain to the readership that ironically, the 'Empress has no clothes.. ” , so to speak.

Enrique, I imagine it is becoming more and more difficult for you to remain wilfully blind...

    :-D

Let's see if I got this right?

They're apologising because they got a story wrong about her going shopping.

Are you seriously expecting us to believe this?

She won't go to court over the sovereignty of a country, but she will go to court about whether or not she bought Italian shoes?

When will you realize that you are looking ridiculous for repeatedly defending the lying thief that is robbing contemporary Argentines blind?

Oh, right - you don't know any any contemporary Argentines that have to live under this woman.

    “...the lying thief...”
    Says who?
Why, none else than Troy Tempest!
    Ohhh! Must be truth then!!!
Come on Troy. Clarín and similar media outlets have tried many times, but all their fake stories eventually crumbled. Even with most of the judiciary adverse, no malfeasance on CFK's part has ever been demonstrated in court.
Coming back to the story above, the Argentine newspaper La Nación reproduced the Corriere story in its entirety at the time, without taking into account CFK's immediate denial.
Of course, the image the authors of the fake story attempted to create was that of a president indulging herself in luxury shopping while attending a conference international against starvation.
No matter what, those with a strong bias will take only take into account the stories that comfort their prejudices.

“No matter what, those with a strong bias will take only take into account the stories that comfort their prejudices”

A good case in point Enrique, you repeat and take comfort in INDEC and CFK telling everyone that Argentina is doing better than Germany and there is very little poverty, yet the Catholic Church reports over 27%, 11 million people in Arg. live in poverty.

Contrast the INDEC figures for inflation with those of other agencies pegging it at over 30%.

The Peso was 6 to the USD when the K's took power, now it's 16, and slipping...

Spending €140,000 is small change for this fragrant lady, whether it's true or not. What the Argentine people need to know are the details of her personal wealth and where it came from. If she has nothing to hide, then she will be more than happy to disclose this, especially as a fair number of Argentines believe her huge fortune will be difficult to explain.

”If (CFK) has nothing to hide, then she will be more than happy to disclose this.”
I will refrain to express my opinion about the above line.
Instead I will remind you that all Argentine politicians need to fill a sworn disclosure of personal wealth that is readily available.

Please stop, you are making me cry.
Argentines do bitch about inflation which indeed is irritating.
Argentines also look at many other indicators of the economy. Many of them look at where they are now and where they were a decade ago.
That is why Daniel Scioli, the Victory Front candidate to succeed CFK is at the top of the polls.
    This should tell you something.
    It doesn't?
Then I don't know what will.

So Argentine politicians need to fill a sworn disclosure of personal wealth that is readily available. Just like the one that Corruptina Kirchner's “sister” Dilma Rousseff filled in? How naive and gullible can anyone be?
Go to Argentina and everyone tells you how corrupt their leaders are but then they shrug their shoulders and say that's just the way it is.
Argentina gets the corrupt, criminal presidents it deserves and Kirchner is simply the latest in a long line of crooks. Thank goodness Jaime Stiuso has the memory sticks with all the details of the millions she and her husband have stashed away in secret bank accounts.
